Use
Do you have any area on your body where a little heat feels good? Stiff muscles? Aches and pains? Period cramps? Cold hands or feet? Once you get your hands on one of these amazing little things, you'll wonder how you lived without it. While this is a cute little thing to have in the bedroom for a relaxing massage, I think it's best suited for soothing and aches and pains in the most adorable way possible.
-Menstrual cramps got you down? The Heart Warmer will take care of that for you and show you a little love! The heart is the perfect shape and size for soothing away those cramps.
-Aching neck or back? Unlike larger, bulkier heat packs, this one is small enough to be able to balance it right on your neck when propped up in a chair or while in bed. This can also be placed underneath you in any area you're feeling back pain and stiffness.
-Arthritis pain? I know I get stiff knees and hips really easily, and this little thing is great for that. It's big enough to provide a good sized area of heat, but small enough so that it's not bulky when used for wrists, ankles, knees, or elbows. If you get stiff wrists from typing, get two of them and use them to prop your wrists and soothe away any achiness.
-Cold hands or feet? The wonderful part about this Heart Warmer that makes it so much cooler than other hot packs or hand warmers is that it's instant heat and reusable. While other hand warmers might be one time use, and hot packs may require microwaving, this one can be used just about anywhere for some great heat. If it's any time during the colder months and you plan on being outside for a while, grab one of these for warm hands!
-Got stubborn breakouts? If you occasional get those painful pimples that are stuck under your skin, use this Heart Warmer to soothe them and bring them to the surface. Heat helps the blood circulate and helps them to heal faster, as well.
-Painful UTI? Heat also works to soothe the inflammation of a UTI as well!
Performance
This little Heart Warmer is quite warm, and quite charming. When you first get it, it's a plastic, heart shaped pouch filled with liquid. Inside the liquid is a small metal disc. All you have to do is click the disc and the crystallization will start and spread across the heart. The disc is pretty easy to click and it only takes about a second to do it. The crystals spread across the heart almost instantly and the heat starts quickly rising. The crystals will become more of a solid than the squishy liquid of the inactivated state. If you're using this on a smaller area like an ankle or wrist, make sure you apply the heart to that area so that you can get a shape that works with it. When fully heated (which only takes five minutes at most) it reaches a temperature of 129F. It doesn't get super super hot, but the temperature is high enough to provide strong relief. If you find that it's too hot, you can place a towel or cloth around it. It stays at a high heat for about 30 minutes, and then the temperature starts slowly dropping.
When you want to reuse this, all you have to do is boil it and it will go back to the liquid state. Grab yourself a pot of boiling water and a washcloth or towel. Wrap the Heart Warmer in the cloth and drop it in the water. Make sure that the cloth covers the bottom of the pot so you don't end up melting your warmer. Let it boil for about 5-10 minutes, or until all the crystals are dissolved, remove with tongs or a large spoon (this can be tricky) and place it on the counter to cool down. After that, you're ready to go again!
Make sure that you store this in an area where it will be free of any punctures or sharp objects. The plastic is pretty thick, but it could be punctured by sharp items.
Size
The Heart Warmer is about 5" across and 5" high. At 9 oz, it's great to throw in a suitcase or purse for travel. They're great to keep in the car for long drives, as well.

Experience
How It Works
I was highly curious about the magic inside this little heart. I did some research. The fluid inside the heart is a supersaturated solution of sodium acetate. (Sodium acetate is the sodium salt of acetic acid. It's also the primary flavoring in salt and vinegar potato chips. It's also non-toxic, but don't consume it.) When you click the little metal disc, it causes enough of a disturbance in the fluid to make it crystallize. The crystallization is an exothermic reaction. When boiled, the crystals dissolve and can be activated again.
Why I Think This Is The Coolest Thing Ever
I get horrible cramps every month, and I get stiffness in my muscles and joints all the time. When I'm having horribly bad cramps, I don't feel like standing in front of my microwave waiting for my hot pack to get hot enough to make them go away, but not so hot it burns me. The microwave ones are also super bulky and pretty huge. This one is right there and ready to go whenever I need it.
Not to mention, it's squishy and warm and cute. What more could you ask for, you know? When I first got this, I showed it to a friend of mine and she insisted that she needed one, as well. This Heart Warmer isn't just for grown-ups, either! It's cute, so it can be used to soothe away all those boo-boos. It would also make a wonderful gift for elderly people who have severe arthritis.

Follow-up commentary
23 days after original review
Still just as wonderful as when I first got it! I've used this about 10 times now and it's not showing any decrease in function or wear and tear. I haven't got around to buying more, but I will when the other colors come in stock. Everyone who has gotten their hands on mine has told me how much they need one now! It has saved me from cramps on more than one occasion.

This would not be able to burn me would it?
-
I doubt it would actually burn you.

Quote: This would not be able to burn me would it?I don't know if you've seen those stick-on heating pads sold in stores, but it's basically the same; the temperature isn't enough to burn you, but the prolonged exposure could. Sort of like when your lap top overheats, its really warm but it doesn't hurt... until you let it *keep* sitting on your lap.
