Light And Lovely (Blue Lotus)

This body wash smells great and leaves your body feeling fresh and clean! The scent is light and lovely, but could last a little bit longer on the skin. While it doesn't seem to work well as an aphrodisiac, it does work well as a regular body wash. It has natural ingredients, but isn't 100% natural, so make sure you check the ingredients list before purchasing.

Use

Dona Body Wash from System Jo is an aphrodisiac infused body wash that's designed to leave you smelling fresh and feeling clean for hours after you've showered.

This body wash can be used by any gender, but it seems that the scents are a little on the feminine side. Like any body wash, this can be rubbed directly onto the skin, or used on a washcloth or pouf while in the shower or bath. Since it does contain glycerin, you might want to avoid using this on your genitals if you have sensitive skin. I didn't have any issues with it, but someone else might.

This product is not designed to be used as a lubricant, oral sex product, or sexual enhancer of any kind. The wash can be used in the shower with your partner and having them wash you down could be considered a part of your foreplay. However, this product is perfectly suitable for someone to use on their own as they would any normal body wash.

The front of the label does state that it's natural, paraben free, cruelty free, and petro. deriv. free. While there are natural ingredients, this isn't a 100% natural product. Some might have issues with certain ingredients irritating their sensitive skin. For this reason, you should always check the ingredients list before using.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This body wash is in gel form rather than cream and is mostly transparent with a slight yellowed tint to it. It's a lot thinner than other shower gel products I've tried, but it's not so runny that you're unable to lather your body with it before it runs into the bottom of the shower. It reminds me of a thick water-based lubricant; pretty thin, but still gives you the time to apply it where it's needed. It has a very silky smooth feeling to it and doesn't have any real type of texture beyond that. Shown below is how it looks on my hand directly after dispensing it, and then five seconds after I held my hand up.

The soap is dispensed using a pump style top. One pump doesn't produce enough to wash your whole body, you need three or four pumps to get a good lather going. This isn't because the soap doesn't lather well, it's because the pump doesn't dispense much each time it's pressed. This is great since you're less likely to use too much, less wasting is always appreciated.

If you put it in between your fingers without using any water, it feels a lot like a silicone-based or thick water-based lubricant. But as you move your fingers around it becomes slightly tacky until it eventually starts to turn white and sudsy. I don't know about any of you, but I always use water when I'm cleaning myself, so this shouldn't cause an issue.

When washing, it feels light on your skin. It doesn't feel greasy or heavy and you feel fresh and clean coming out of the shower. Your skin is soft and feels smooth to the touch, as long as you rinse your body well there should be no concerns about your skin feeling like there's any type of residue left behind.

Taste / Aroma

This body wash is available in six different types; Pomegranate, Acai, Goji Berry, Camu Camu, Mangosteen, and the one I'm reviewing; Blue Lotus. The name of the product reflects which aphrodisiac was used in the wash itself, not the scent.

The Blue Lotus has a very fresh, clean scent to it. It has a slight floral element to it (though not heavy), but has a little bit of a cucumber/melon scent to it as well. I don't know what an actual blue lotus smells like, so I can't compare it to that, but it's a very interesting scent like nothing I've smelled before. It's very attractive and isn't overpowering like a lot of bath products tend to be. This particular scent should appeal to a wide range of people, and isn't so feminine that even a manly man would be able to use it without shame.

The scent is very obvious when you're in the shower, but is much more subtle once you've dried off and have gotten dressed. As long as you haven't used any other perfumes or lotions, the scent sticks around for quite a while. Though light, I could detect the scent on my skin for six hours after I showered. If you use the Dona body lotion, the Dona body mist lotion, the Dona body butter, or the Dona pheromone perfume gel in the same scent, it will obviously carry the scent for longer during the day. Your activity level and your own skin type will determine how long the scent lingers, but on my body, it lasted hours after showering.

This is soap, and well, it tastes like soap! This type of product is not intended for consumption, but after you've showered and have rinsed it off your body, there should be no taste detected. Your partner can put their mouth all over your body without having to worry about a soapy taste.

Performance

The body wash works best when you use a shower pouf/loofah to lather up your body. When testing out this wash, I found that washing my body with nothing but my hand created the least amount of lather. Using a washcloth created a little bit of a better lather, but was still lacking. When I used my shower pouf, that's when I was able to get a good lather from it. Using the pouf is also best since it takes less soap to create a good lather, making your body wash last longer.

I love trying out new body washes, and that was the purpose for getting this one as well. As far as being aphrodisiac infused, I didn't notice a difference. My husband only mentioned that it smelled nice, nothing more than that. So for those of you who are looking for something that will attract someone to you, this isn't going to do it. I guess the results might vary, but I still haven't found an 'aphrodisiac infused' product yet that 'attracts' anyone.

As previously mentioned, the length of time the scent lasts on your body will vary, but I was pleased with the results of mine. I would have liked for it to last a little bit longer, but it wasn't a big deal. I have other Dona lotions that I can use since I enjoy the scent so much.

As far as how it made my skin feel, it was nice! The label says that it's gently exfoliating, and while it wasn't anything over the top, I did notice a slight difference. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but my skin felt clean and refreshed each time I used it. I'm pleased with the product, but I don't think it's anything extraordinary.

Packaging

This body wash arrives in a clear bottle with a black pump style top on it. The label covers most of the bottle and has a purple colored background with a black lace pattern over it. It's attractive in design, but looks geared more toward females. It's fairly discreet looking, but if you pick it up and look at it, it clearly states, "an aphrodisiac infused ritual". Each of the Dona products contains a number on them for which step they are. This one is step #2 | cleanse.

Each bottle contains 8.5 fl ozs of wash. This is above the TSA's liquid rules when it comes to flying, so you'll want to transfer it to a smaller bottle if you're traveling by air. In general, this bottle is a little large to take with you on the go, but is a suitable size for keeping it in the shower.

The label itself is quite informative. It gives the directions in four different languages, lists the ingredients, the scent, and lists off some of the great qualities of the body wash. If the fact that it says 'aphrodisiac' on the label bothers you, it can be peeled away, but be aware that it leaves behind a sticky mess.

When the bottle first arrives, it's inside of a plastic bag to help prevent the product from leaking all over the place during shipment. Mine was fully intact and didn't leak though. The top of the pump is pressed down and shows you which way to turn it so that it pops up and opens. It's very easy to use and understand. When the pump popped up, I did noticed that the neck of it had some of the wash on it, but it didn't leak other than that.

Since this bottle is plastic, you can recycle it as you would other plastic items, or you can reuse it for another product in your home.

This body wash would look very attractive in a gift basket for a female friend or relative, especially combined with other Dona products. On its own it would be fine, but would certainly seem like a lacking gift. Since the only word on the label that would give this away as an 'adult' product, it should be perfectly suitable to gift openly without worrying about any sort of embarrassment. I wouldn't use this on a child, but a teenager certainly could use this wash as well.
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Very informative packaging
Follow-up commentary
This is a good body wash, but it's not amazing. It's expensive for what it is and while I think the scent is great, you could easily find a less expensive, great scented product at your local department store.

If you're using other Dona products in the same scent, you might want to grab this once since they all blend together really well, but other than that, I could take it or leave it.

Awesome review! If I was down with the whole smelling feminine thing, I'd give it a shot but in the mean time I'll stick with my oh so manly Caress body bar.
