Dona body wash - soap discontinued by System JO - review by Adriana Ravenlust

System Jo's new line of Dona products exist to help you feel sensual. The body wash focuses on cleansing. This product supposedly offers aphrodisiac qualities but I think the best way to use it to attract your mate is to bring him or her in the shower with you while using it -- if you can both stand the smell.

This is a thicker gel that becomes a lather when it comes in contact with water. It doesn't easily wash off of your poof or body, which I like. I prefer gel cleansers. The gel has a slight off-white appearance and contains no exfoliating particles.

I used it with my shower poof and thought that the lather was a bit lackluster. I needed to apply more product than I expected. However, the gel dispenses easily from the bottle. It rinsed from my body just fine when I was done, however.

The pomegranate body wash doesn't smell fruity or tart like one would expect from pomegranate. Rather, it shares the same flora+generic cosmetic scent as its lotion. However, I found it to be more enjoyable. The mixture of the scent plus humidity from the shower changes it just enough that I find it to be more pleasant.

It needs to be mentioned that the pomegranate isn't pomegranate scented but it uses pomegranate as the aphrodisiac. For this reason, all of the products in this line are slightly misleading and it is impossible to tell what the product will smell like, to you, or whether you'll like that.

One thing that the Dona body wash has really Dona right is to create a product that has a long lasting scent. It lasts on the skin for hours, working well with the Dona lotions as well. It even servers as a sort of air freshener for my bathroom. My shower and poof will smell like the pomegranate body wash for two days, even after I've switched to another product. On the other hand, those who are sensitive to smells might find this to be too overpowering.

As a body wash, this one is just okay. It cleanses but it doesn't feel as silky smooth on my skin as my Cake body washes. It doesn't lather quite as well, either. Luxury body washes, to me, should do both. Plus, it did seem to leave a bit of a soapy residue, of which I am not a fan.

I really do enjoy the packaging for the Dona products. The label takes up nearly the entire bottle, height and width-wise. It features a printed lace pattern. The body washes are in purple and black lace, while the other product lines have different colors. It looks really sophisticated, both modern and traditional, to me. The body wash comes in a pump bottle that is easy to use. The pump itself also locks so it won't spill during travel or shipment to your home when you first order the producr.

All the Dona products are supposed to be infused with aphrodisiacs. Ideally, they'll make you want to get it on. I'm not sold on this. I think the idea of aphrodisiacs is oversold as is. However, the quality and scent of this product don't make me feel any more alluring than some of the drugstore products I've used in the past.
