Slippery, but not in a fun way!

Not good for shaving an actual coochy but acceptable for shaving legs, and is a good multi-use product if used as a hair conditioner and moisturizer for dry skin. Pack it for your next vacation and save on space!

Pros:
Nice, light scent. Decent hair conditioner. Great for softening rough, dry patches on skin.
Cons:
Hard to wash off. Slippery in shower! Needs to have heavier texture. Difficult to apply.

Let's face it, anyone who likes to keep things smooth down below has probably dealt with the issues of razor burn and ingrown hairs in the most uncomfortable of places. Not a fun scenario since the itching and subsequent burning can really put a crimp in your day! Needless to say, I myself have dealt with this issue several times, so I was really excited when I saw Coochy for the first time and I had to try it right away! I bought the green tea scent, which was light and fairly pleasing- much preferable to the smell of the depilatory I had been using!

The first time I used Coochy, I just shaved my legs, and although it's texture, like conditioner, makes it somewhat difficult to spread around, I was fairly pleased with the results. I did notice, however, that it seemed a little hard to rinse off. You really need to scrub, not the best idea on freshly shaved skin! Also, because it is somewhat thin, it was difficult to tell if I had spread it well enough over my legs, unlike more foamy shave creams where you can easily see if you missed a spot. Later I realized I had some bumpiness and areas of razor burn but nothing too bad.

The second time I used Coochy was the following week when I decided it was time to spruce up down below again. I was starting with hair pretty short to begin with so I didn't bother with my usual ritual of trimming first. The bottle directions say to wet area to be shaved and apply a small amount. I followed the directions and started shaving, using a razor I had used once before. It immediately became clear that in order to keep the razor moving smoothly, I would have to use a lot more than "a small amount." When I tried to reapply more, I noticed that since my hands were wet and already quite slippery, I lost a big glob down the drain while trying to apply more. The areas where I managed to get enough on went pretty well. Other areas where I didn't get enough coverage, stung immediately. As it rinsed off, the bottom of the shower became quite slippery.

Later in the evening, I was already beginning to regret my shave and the subsequent two day didn't go any better! My partner complained that I felt "stubbly." He also tried Coochy on his facial hair and experienced uncomfortable results. Coochy does make a decent hair conditioner in a pinch and it does a better job softening rough, dry skin than most lotions designed for that purpose.

Even though I didn't experience the promised rash free shave, Coochy isn't a bad product. It's just better for other purposes than those which it's marketed for. Try it if you are looking for a multi-use product as it is a decent hair conditioner and good moisturizer for dry skin. I would not recommend it for shaving an actual Coochy, except for in a pinch- and make sure to apply very liberally! I would use on my legs again if I was out of my regular product. It would make a great product to travel with as you could pack one bottle for three purposes.

This is all my husband shaves his face with now. Did you shave with a fresh razor? Also, I recommend soaking your pubic region before shaving- with either a hot face cloth for a few minutes or by taking a soak in the tub- it will open up the pores and make shaving so much easier.

  • Need to try!
    • I really need to try this! I have been in the market for something like this.
    • It is pretty good. I'm not usually a fan of shave creams, but I recently purchased this product and it works well.

  • Who uses coochy rash free shave cream? Did it leave you satisfied with a rash free Brazilian?
    • I bought this for me and my guy to use. It worked wonders for his gentle areas. Unfortunately, I had a terrible reaction to Coochy... total bummer!
Has anyone else had a bad reaction to this product? Do you know a great product to use? I've been using olive oil based soaps that leave my skin silky and lux!
    • While I have no had a reaction, I do like Inttimo Kitty Shave Kreme by Wet. EF carries it but only in a tiny bottle )=
