Where's the lavender?
I rarely write a scathing review, but there is no way I'm using this stuff again. I don't trust it. Honestly, I don't trust the manufacturer. Always research your ingredients and be safe!Published: November 29, 2010
Pros:
Provides a decent slip
Cons:
Sketchy ingredients, incomplete ingredient list on bottle, scent fades quickly, soaks in quickly
Experience
Compared to other massage products I've used, System JO has trouble measuring up. Aside from the scent being faint and not lasting long, it soaked in quickly. And, being health-conscious, I'm worried about the safety of the ingredients after researching them. I was given a whole box of products to review from System JO and found that most of them contained sketchy ingredients. The full review contains information on these ingredients and the possible dangers of them.
I'm not so sure about the accuracy of the ingredient list either. The scent was left off of the ingredient list on the bottle. I expect to see the words "fragrance" or "essential oil" or something about the scent in the ingredient list. It shouldn't be absent. Also, there are a couple of ingredients that can be classified as "hydroxy-terminated". I had to ask System JO exactly which ingredient it was since it seemed like it had been cut off. I shouldn't have to contact the manufacturer just to figure out what's in this stuff!

I never liked it and never will. This JO product, along with a few others, were passed along to another reviewer. I did not want to deal with their sketchy ingredient lists. I did try to contact them to ask them if that would be alright, but I've never heard from them since.

Thank you for viewing System JO glide massage oil review page!

Great review! It stinks that they did not include a full ingredient list on the bottle. I don't think I'd trust using it either.
Yeah. I ended up asking them if it would be ok to let another reviewer review the products that they sent me. Obviously, after this one, the reviews were going to be biased. I got no response from them. I know another girl was having trouble getting in contact with them and was wondering if she was asking too many questions. She was sending emails and getting nowhere. Twitter DMs were working for me for a while. If I remember right, she gave her System JO review products to another reviewer, too.
This game of hot potato with their products and the lack of communication makes me wonder. I mean, I did get some info about the lavender and the "hydroxy-terminated" thing, plus info on the packaging... Still, they never contacted me back on the last question, and the other girl never did get her emails answered, to my knowledge.
Even if I did like all their products, though, I would've had to send one of them to someone else. I specifically asked for only paraben-free products and received one with parabens in it anyway.
I don't know. I'm sorry if all this is too harsh on them... It's just that something doesn't feel right about all this.
Great review!
Nice review!
eeek sounds scary. I definitely won't be trying this one. Thanks for the review!
thanks for the review, scary experience indeed!
@MagicVibe and @Blooddragon Thank you!
@Taylor and @ShadowKitten Yes, it was definitely not the best experience. I'm staying away from all System JO products because of it.
Thanks.
You're welcome ^-^
Nicely unbiased review. Good work.
Thank you.
It's the worst when you can't get in touch with companies like this. Shady, shady.
Yep. It also sort of ruins any trust I'd have of their products in the future. I'd like to try out their new DONA line, but this experience is still in the back of my mind.
Good review, I'll definitely look twice before getting anything from this company. Incomplete ingredients lists make me wary.
good review, sketchy product!
@MimiPhryxus Same here, although I do like their new Dona plumping balm.
@Nirelan Thanks, and yes, definitely sketchy..
The Eden site means discreet packaging, so if that had an effect on your rating of the product, it should be altered here. I couldn't tell if it did or not. Good review overall!
Great review, thanks!
@bballard3 It wasn't the packaging that the manufacturer sent it in, it was the product itself. I just don't trust it. If the packaging had been a factor, I would have listed it in the "Cons".
@Dragonfly Delta Thank you!
Wow, that packaging System JO sent you was certainly not discreet! That would bother me a lot, especially with your mother possibly seeing it and living in a building with other people. Gotta love Eden, they're always discreet, I've never had a problem with them ever with that!
The missing/incomplete ingredients list, and their lack of knowledge as to why, is disconcerting. I LOVE lavender, anything with real lavender or lavender essential oil! After reading your review, I think I will have to pass on this one. Good job hunting down the info on those ingredients! Always bothers me when reviewing these sorts of products and come to find out there is a potentially toxic ingredient in there, but nobody would really bother to question it. Thanks so much for sharing!
