Smaller than expected, but holds a surprising amount!
This classy little number can hide your toys without raising eyebrows at first, or second glance. Although a bit small, it is deceptively spacious inside.Published: May 13, 2009
Pros:
Adorable, classy looking storage for a small collection.
Cons:
Small, keys are flimsy and break easily.
I was so happy to receive the Devine toy box in the mail recently. It was wrapped neatly in tissue paper when it came in the mail and was padded securely when shipped. It sure is much smaller than I imagined...
Although it's a small box, the construction feels sturdier than expected upon first lifting it. All the seams on the lacey top with red underlay were neat and without stitches showing, or other signs of shoddy craftsmanship. It looks really sharp, and I wouldn't really think twice about leaving it on the nightstand if it enhances your decor. I thought I would prefer the pink corset box, but actually I think the red lace is so much sexier, grown up, and also much prettier in person. I am glad I could review this version.
There were little packets of silica inside the box to keep away moisture, but the inside of the box did smell a little, perhaps like the glue used to bond the fabric to the box walls. I am pretty sure this will fade with time.
There is a string to hold the lid when opened, which is a nice feature, but with repeat use it may dislodge from either side I think. A little hot glue would probably fix it right up however.
The lock came inside the box wrapped in tissue paper as well. The keys are adorable in my opinion, though it wouldn't take a genius to pick the lock if they really wanted to get in the Devine toy box, since the keys are so simple. Still, a lock is sometimes enough of a deterrent. Unfortunately the key is so simple that it got stuck in the lock the first few times I tried it, and I broke it trying to get it out. Now the lock is useless unless I can get the broken key piece out. You could use a luggage lock instead if this happens to you.
This box doesn't really scream "Sex toy", and you could even use it for other things like your nail care stuff, or socks, money, etc etc. This box might fit in deep dresser drawers as well, so you could hide your toys twice over.
As I said this box it not very large, but it will hold a decent amount of toys. For those of you that have the Lelo Iris or Elise, they will fit inside the box lengthwise with about 1/2 inch to spare; anything bigger than the Elise will be a problem. Actually I think it's a really good place to store chargers, if you have a lot of rechargeable toys. It does hold a ton of little stuff, chargers, lube samples, bullets, cock rings, batteries and the like.
If you want it for serious storage, here is what I have that fits...
It's JUST big enough to fit a 4.2 ounce bottle of Sliquid H20 lubricant standing straight, Lelo Iris, Daido #3, Lelo Gigi, Njoy Pure Wand, Lelo Ella, Sasi, Lelo Luna Beads, and Lelo Lily, with a little bit of room to spare for condoms or flat lube samples, or batteries.
I do want to mention that if you store a bunch of silicone toys in the box you should use little baggies to protect them from interacting with each other chemically. All the toys I mentioned came with their own satin baggies for storage, minus the Njoy wand.
It actually holds quite a lot when you think about it. It's much smaller than some of those larger cases, so it might travel well, although not having a handle of some sort doesn't make it a stand alone travel case. But packed in luggage I imagine it would store all your favorites quite nicely.
Overall I would purchase this box again, or even give it as a gift. It's likely that they wouldn't even know what it was intended for. If the red was this nice in person, I bet the purple lace and croc versions look great too.

Follow-up commentary
5 months after original review
I am still using this to hold my most used toys a few months later. It looks very nice on my nightstand and is still convenient for spur of the moment toy grabbing. Love it. It doesn't get a whole lot of use, but there's absolutely no wear or tear on this thing yet.

Devine toy lace box – flimsy lock
-
I am looking into getting myself a proper toy box. I really like the look of this one, but the lock looks super flimsy. Do you think you could replace the lock with a different one?
-
I don't have that box, but I can't see why you couldn't replace the lock with something a bit more sturdy. I'm pretty sure a lot of other people have :)

Lace toy box quality/construction
-
wdanasSince the corset toy box I wanted is out of stock, I'm thinking of getting the lace toy box instead. One of the reviews mentioned a bit of fraying on the lace; from my experience with other lace items, I know that could potentially happen if it's not higher-quality or well put together. Can anyone who has had one of the lace boxes for awhile assure me it will hold up and not look messy and horrible after a year of use? :) -

If if it not, please let me know, and I will personally see to it that EF gets them in again so that your original desire can be fulfilled. I am not sure when you posted this, but we recently shipped them the corset style. Regarding your lace fraying issue, any lace receives lots of friction will show signs of ware and tear. The lace we use is not the super delicate french lace of lingerie, so has longer staying power than that certainly. We hope you love your DevineToy box, whichever you choose.

I did already order the lace box, and it should be here today. I don't foresee the box getting a lot of wear and tear just sitting on my bedside table, so it's good to know it should hold up well.
Have you ever considered making the corset box in different colors? The pink is nice, but red or purple would be beautiful too. :)

How much can you store?

Read some reviews?

I think this would be good for small collections.. It does seem a bit small for the price, though.

Do you think a few small electronics would fit in here?
-
a digital camera,a kindle,ipod touch and a nintendo 3ds?
Does that seem like it would fit nicely in this box? Would this bee a good choice or would they fit oddly in there? I'm not worried alot I just have a sister I don't trust and it makes me feel good to lock up things she might run off wih...SHe has been known to go through my bedroom and even take sexual things like the sex card position deck or porn then she leaves it lying around in her bedroom and then I get introuble for having those things.....BOOO! SHe is 21 now living here with her 30 year old boyfriend...I've wondered if they have dug around in here or if she gets urges too... -
I'm not entirely sure about the Kindle, but after watching Mistress Kay's video review on it, it looks like it would hold everything else easily and without problem. Although she recommends buying your own small padlock if you really want to keep people out of it. You could probably even keep a few other things in there with the camera, iPod, and Nintendo.

The Nintendo 3ds isn't out yet but will be in 2011...

Does the Devine toy lace box store well anywhere?
-
would it store well under your bed? I have a cat who likes to go under my bed not sure if she would touch this...If you wanted 2 of these would you be comfortable just storing it un top of your dresser or would u just get the devine toychest so you just hve to buy 1 storage item or do you think it depends what your storing? I thought maybe I lace box for vibrating stuff or glass then the other if I decide to get handcuffs or blindflods, ticklers or bdsm kind of stuff or misc like sexy dice or a small game...

Thank you for viewing Devine toy lace box – storage container review page!

This does sound like it holds quite a bit!
For the price I am bit disappointed in the quality! Thanks for the review. Check mine out if you can.
The quality wasn't bad, imo. Do you have one? I didn't see a review for this on your profile, but I'll check out your other reviews.
I wouldn't buy it myself for $40 though, I think it's more like a $25 to $30 item. $40 is a bit much I think for how small it is, even though it's decent storage.
I have this. Love its appearance. Like you mentioned, soft toys can be difficult to storage in it because the need to keep them separated. Maybe a little pocket on the side would be nice, too. I'm sorry to hear about your keys. I would totally send you mine, I don't need to use the lock.
Also, are you in the practice of boxing up your socks? LOL
Only the really comfy socks , haha. I've used socks to try and soften the Hitachi vibrations a little.
Would you recommend storing just sex toys in there or what about BDSM toys?
Thanks for the review!
Nice review!
Thank you!
Thanks for the review. I really want to get one of these.
THANKS
