You are what you eat! Or... lube?

This really comes down to ingredients vs. preferences. Glycerine is something I am not a fan of, but paraben is even higher on "nope" list for me. If ingredients don't matter to you, the lubricant performs well.

Use

The JO H2O anal lubricant has a thicker consistency which gives it it's name. This lubricant is meant to me more durable and lasting for the acts of anal play. It also is water-based, which means it can be used safely with silicone or silicone-composite toys. While it is easy to clean compared to silicone-based lubricants, it also means that it easily washes away in the shower. If you need a lubricant for shower time, you might want to consider a silicone-based lubricant.

Here's where it gets dicey: the ingredients. This lubricant contains two no-nos for a lot of users. The first is paraben. Paraben is widely used in the cosmetic worlds to act as a preservative. However, studies have been linking the use of paraben to possible ill effects. Paraben can be a common ingredient (compared to others) that can cause an allergic reaction to those with sensitive skin. Also, there have been many studies on it linking to breast cancer. I will say that these studies show it has to do with the paraben being near the affects body part, like deodorant that has paraben. The chemical properties of paraben means it can mimic estrogen. This can also have a host of issues.

If that one isn't enough, it also contains glycerin. You may have seen that article stating glycerin was not a sugar. I want to let you know that article was done by ID lubricants, so if that doesn't show a vested interest for the article's claim, I don't know what will. Glycerin is a sugar alcohol. It breaks down into... alcohol and sugar. The article mentions that yeast cannot feed on glycerine. Many human strains do not, but the article does not really elaborate on bacteria. There are strains of bacteria that can eat glycerine and like chemicals. If that isn't enough, it is also another common irritant for sensitive users. You can do a skin test if you want to see your reaction to this lubricant.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The texture is a little thicker than some lubricants more geared to vaginal play. It is easy to pour. If you pour a little on your hand the lubricant won't run off like water. However, if you pour a handful it can escape your hands and make application a bit unruly. The lubricant is smooth and homogenous; it is is no way grainy. It is clear and colorless. It rubs into skin/applies well. After a it dries completely you don't experience any greasiness or tell-tale signs you used it. You might be reminded after you sweat some or shower, but that's the case with any lotion and 99 percent of lubricants on the planet.

Taste / Aroma

The lubricant is not edible or designed to be consumed. It doesn't have a smell really. It won't spoil any play sessions during use. You can get a slight chemical whiff if you put your nose up to it. Then again, I have a sensitive nose, so some might not even smell anything.

Performance

If we put aside the ingredients of the lubricant: it performs fairly well. It goes on easily and revives if you reapply as it is drying. It lasts for small and slower play sessions. Things that can affect how long the lubricant lasts are: ventilation (if a fan is running on you), amount used, time playing, toy type being used (porous toys can absorb some lubricant making you add more), and the tempo of the play session. You can always apply more if you need it. It is easy to reapply.

It cleans up well. If you use a smaller to moderate amount you can towel down or use a wet wipe. If you use a lot then you may want to take a shower or throw a towel underneath to protect the sheets. I do notice a slight discoloration on the sheets if the lubricant gets on them. Overall, the product does work, but it comes at a cost of ingredients and a user's sensitivity.

Packaging

All liquids and body products come wrapped in a bag. Remove this bag and you'll have the bottle. They have appeared to change the cover art between now and when I purchased my lubricant.

It has a push down nozzle like many shampoo container do. It is simple and easy to operate. The bottle, when secure and tight, can be tilted without causing issues. Still, it's best to wrap it in a plastic zip-lock bag when storing or traveling.

Experience

I only used this lubricant for the sake of reviewing. I figured that we are exposed to so many not-so-great chemicals and fumes and additives in food that using this lubricant once or twice won't kill me (knock on wood). After that, I'm tossing it. I am a stickler for good ingredients. The more naturally derived and less processed, the better for me. I'll be sticking with my go-to anal lubricant: Sassy Booty formula by Sliquid.

I think the only reason I picked this lubrican tup was to make up the difference for my shipping and this was a very low price at the time. I want to give my vagina and bits the best treatment I can give them. I also use my Sassy formula for every day occurrences like kegel ball insertion. It has nothing in it that would keep you from using it for the vagina.
