Mona - vibrator by LELO - review by ~LaUr3n~

I had heard many things about LELO products and how luxurious they are. I was so excited to see what all the hype was about. I got the opportunity to review one and I must say, I experienced luxury in every sense of the word. I fell in love with Mona before I even turned her on. The packaging even got me excited. Mona is just one product in LELO's amazing vibrator line. Her curves and moderate size make her great for shallow vaginal insertion and g-spot stimulation. The vibrations can be used for clitoral stimulation as well. The huge range in speeds and patterns makes it appeal to any experience level. The hypo-allergenic material also makes Mona safe to use and long lasting. Her super quiet motor will make it easy for you to secretly indulge in pleasure. She is worth the higher price tag if you want something that will last you a long time and since she is rechargeable, no batteries needed! Mona is luxurious indeed.

Mona is made of a body safe PC ABS plastic and FDA certified silicone. The materials are non-porous, phthalates free, hypo-allergenic, food-grade, and latex free. This makes Mona extremely safe to play with. The insertable part of the toy is covered in silicone. It has a velvety surface. There is a very small amount of give, but the toy does not bend at all. It doesn't need to with curves like this! The material has no smell or taste and barely attracts lint and dust etc. There is a little drag across the material. I didn't find that I needed to use lubricant every time. The handle part of the toy is made of plastic. Keep your hands clean of lubricant in order to make this easy to hold!

Mona's shape looks so simple, but it is actually unlike any vibrator I own. The sleek curve and oval shaped shaft combined with the slim neck make her slide in and out easily and hit all the right spots in the process. She does this so well, that the vibration isn't even necessary to reach orgasm.

The entire length of the vibrator is just under 8" long. Insertable length is up to a bit of interpretation but generally I would say it is 4". The reason I say this is that on the top of the vibrator, the silicone comes up an inch further than the bottom. I inserted this up to 4 1/2" with no problems. The bulb of the shaft is oval if you look at it cross sectionally. This is a genius part of her design. It allows for g-spot stimulation but doesn't require a huge girth to do so. The thickest part of her body is 4 1/2" around and slims down to a mere 2 3/4" at the neck.

The other half of the Mona is perfectly designed as well. The end is a good size to easily be held in the palm of my hand when using Mona on myself. It also works turned around and used by a partner. Overall, the Mona doesn't weight much and won't cramp your wrist. The curve eases this also.

While Mona isn't explicitly phallic shaped, she isn't the most discreet. The vibrant purple and white color combination is noticeable among my other toys and would be noticed if left out to charge. It has a locking feature that makes it great for travel. "Is that a bomb?" "...No that's just Mona officer." No embarrassing discoveries by airport security!

Mona has one of the widest ranges in vibration levels that I have ever seen. To turn on the toy you press the + sign. It will start the toy on a light flutter of vibration. Continuing to press the + sign will increase the vibration slowly all the way up to vibration level that I consider to be well above average but not too intense. Pressing the ^ up button changes the constant vibration into a pattern. The controls were very easy to use. The buttons fit right under my thumb. I thought it was cool that with each press, the control buttons all light up white. This became amusing when I saw that Star Wars was on TV while I was writing this review!

If on the highest level of vibration possible this is how the patterns are:

1. A strong pulsing with a short period of pause in between each pulse
2. A faster strong pulsing with no pause
3. An repeating escalation from low to high vibration
4. An up and down roller coaster from soft flutter to medium-high vibration
5. Seemingly haphazard increments of vibration that starts over after about 20 seconds

The vibrations can be felt throughout the entire toy but are strongest in the first 4 inches of the shaft.
What is cool is that you can use the + - buttons on any of the vibration patterns to make them stronger or weaker. I enjoyed 1 & 2 the most for finishing and 3 & 4 for build up. 5 I avoided because at certain parts of haphazard pattern, I could hear a high pitched squeaking that was distracting and annoying to me. I have a heightened sense of hearing so I am unsure if this would be heard by all users. I did notice that sometimes, the patterns did not change on the press press of the up button. It didn't happen enough that I thought the toy was broken. You just need to apply more pressure. Just because the light goes on, doesn't mean the button was pressed properly.

The noise level on this vibrator is very low. On the medium and low vibration levels it can't be noticed unless it is almost right next to my ear. The higher levels blended into noise of a TV or shower behind a closed door. Even without background noise Mona kept her mouth shut and was very quiet.

The packaging says that Mona will last an amazing 4 hours before dying and needing to be recharged. I didn't use the Mona for 4 hours, but I did use it on three separate occasions all about 1/2 hour each. I did not recharge between these and did not feel any decrease in power.

CHARGING:

I was sad that Mona arrived without being charged. The packaging got me so excited, I could barely stand waiting the 2 hours she needed to charge. Considering that she lasts 4 hours, the amount of time it takes to charge her is not bad at all. For example, another rechargeable toy I have take 6 hours of charge for 90 minutes of play time. You can use Mona multiple times before having to recharge her. She will even tell you when this is needed. She will light up red when she is low on power. Charging is easy. There is a silicone plug at the end that pops off revealing the hole for the charger. The charger attaches there and then uses a regular outlet to be plugged into. The control panel with pulse white while being charged. Make sure to remove from the charger after or before 2 hours to not overcharge the toy.

LUBING:

Do not use silicone lubricant with this vibrator. It will destroy the material and permanently make it gummy. I suggest using a water based lubricant in small amounts. The surface of the material makes it so that not a lot is needed if at all.

CLEANING:

Mona is not waterproof. I was shocked actually with the price tag being high. I am glad I checked before hand. I almost assumed that she could be used in the shower. When cleaning make sure to not get water anywhere near the end of the toy or the control panel. Use a damp cloth and soap or a toy cleaner spray. But do not use any cleansers that have alcohol, petrol, or acetone as ingredients.

STORING:

When storing you can lock Mona by pressing down all the buttons at the same time. To unlock do the same thing. If your Mona ever fails to turn on, this should be the first troubleshooting option you should try. Check to make sure the toy is unlocked. Store out of direct sunlight and away from toys of lesser materials. Her satin pouch and or box are good for storage.

Keeping in line with the design of the Mona, her packaging is just as sophisticated and mature as she is. It is nice to not have a package with graphic pictures and obvious suggesting as to what is inside. The box Mona initial comes in shows a picture of the product on one side and a small description of the product in a few different languages on another. This can be tossed. Inside this box sleeve in an ominous black box with LELO written on the top. There are no other markings. It is made of a heavy cardboard. The top comes off to reveal Mona in a plastic casing held between two cardboard pieces glued together. I threw this out too. A piece of cross sectional cardboard held up this display and should also be tossed so the Mona can be stored laying down after use. This leaves a hollow box. Inside is a black satin pouch to put Mona in and set inside the box. It is much larger than her. Also inside is an instruction manual and two warranty packets. One explains that the toy has a 12 month warranty. If anything happens outside of normal wear to break the toy, it will be replaced free of charge. The other warranty is for 10 years. If anything happens outside of the 12 months, the toy can be sent to LELO and they will dispose of it properly and give you a 50% off coupon for another item. Doesn't get better than that! make sure to register online though!

I love Mona! She allowed me to achieve an intense orgasm without direct clitoral stimulation. I had not had one of these from a toy in a long time!
