Moan with Mona.

The Mona is an expensive toy that is well worth it's cost. It has a unique shape that was definitely designed with G-spot action in mind. The controls are easy to figure out and utilize. I would recommend this toy to anyone from a beginner to a toy crazed maniac.

Use

The Mona from Lelo is intended to be a G-spot vibrator. This is a curvy toy, and the thickest portion of this toy is the purple penetrative portion. This thickness, along with it's curve upward, makes this toy an amazing tool for G-spot action. I could see this easily being used by a beginner. It is not intimidating looking in the least, it is actually kind of dainty looking. While it cannot be done while stimulating your G-spot, this toy can be used for clitoral stimulation.

I do not see this being a wise choice for anal use. The penetrative portion is the thickest and there really is nothing to keep this toy from sliding all the way into your bum. It does have a gentle curve outward at the base of the toy, but this will not hold it securely outside and it will easily glide the rest of the way in if not being held on to.

This toy is not waterproof.

Material / Texture

The penetrative portion of this toy is purple silicone, but the handle is a white plastic. That plastic handle is what is dragging this toy down to only have a ranking of "8" on Eden's safety scale. Silicone toys generally have a ranking of "10" on the Eden safety scale. The back portion of the toy does allow a bit of the plastic handle to slip inside your vagina, so I definitely understand why. This toy is phthalates free, hypoallergenic, latex free, and claims to be nonporous.

The white handle of this toy has not drag to it at all and is completely smooth. The silicone penetrative portion does have much more drag and is still completely smooth, but I would describe this portion as even feeling velvety. Aside from the controls on the handle, this toy has no bumps, grooves, or ribs for added sensation. This toy also has no squish to it. It is completely solid. The silicone portion can be dented momentarily if you squeeze hard enough, but it immediately resumes its original state.

This toy should only being used with water based lubricants. Plastic toys can generally be used with any kind of lubricant, but the silicone portion of this toy, the penetrative portion, makes this toy only safe for water based lubes.

Straight from the packaging, this toy does hold a slight smell. It reminds my brain of rubber. This smell completely disappears after a few uses and cleanings.

Design / Shape / Size

This toy looks anything but realistic. It has a curvy design that is intended to be optimal for G-spot action. Half of this toy is silicone and a deep purple, this is the penetrative side. The contrasting end is a plastic white when you control panel is. The control panel contains 4 buttons that all light up with one is pressed. At the base of the control panel, there is a piece of rubber or silicone that can be lifted to reveal your charging portal.

This toy has a very curvy design to it. No one portion is the same size as any other. The purple portion has the largest bulge and comes out to 1 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" thick. This bulge makes it an awesome choices for G-spot stimulation. This toy comes down to 1" before jutting out again for the 1 3/4" wide and 1 1/4" thick handle. This shape of the handle is designed to give you more leverage and grip when using. All together, this toy is 7 1/2" long. 4 1/2" being purple and penetrative and 3" being the handle.

This toy is fairly lightweight, weighing only 1.5 ounces. It is easy to maneuver while inserted and would be easy to travel with.

Functions / Performance / Controls

I spoke briefly about the controls in the Design section, but here is a more thorough rundown. On the front side of the toy(the side with the curve coming up), you will see 4 buttons. Starting from the top and going clockwise they are: an arrow pointing up, a plus sign, an arrow pointing down, and a minus sign. To turn on this toy, you will push the plus button and you will feel the toy come to life. Initially, this toy is turned on to s steady vibration. Pressing the plus sign with increase the intensity and pushing the minus button will turn it(and every other setting) back down. Pushing the up arrow takes you to the next setting, and the down arrow takes you back a setting.

After the steady vibration setting, the next setting is a pulse. The best description I can give is that it's a 1 second hard buzz and 1 second nothing, repeatedly. The third setting is the same as the second, but the pulse is much more rapid. Note: One nifty thing about this toy, if you turn up the intensity and then switch the setting, it stays on the higher level of intensity. The fourth setting is a gradual buildup and then a crash. The fifth setting is a gradual build up followed by a gradual come down, rather than the drop off from the fourth setting. The sixth setting is very hard to describe. To the ears, it sounds like the toy is humming a song with all the highs and lows it throws out there in such rapid succession. It pulses with totally randomness. Sometimes there is a buildup, sometimes a random high vibe or low vibe. This one is very up and down, and the only way I can describe it is to say it is a crazy pulse.

When you get to the last setting, you have to turn off the toy to go back to the beginning of the options. I thought the Mona would remember where I was last, but sadly it doesn't. To turn this toy off, just hod down the minus button.

Care and Maintenance

Since this toy is not waterproof, it is a bit tricky to clean. Generally, silicone toys can be boiled to rid it of any and all bacteria. Since this toy is a vibrator and has plastic portions, this would be a terrible idea for this toy. You can use warm water and antibacterial soap, but when doing so you will need to pay extra special attention! Getting water into the buttons on the handle could totally ruin your new and expensive toy. Another option you have is cleaning with a toy wipe. Using a toy wipe removes all fear that water will splash onto the buttons of this toy. Another difficulty you will encounter when cleaning this toy is they place when the purple silicone meets the white plastic. You will need to pay extra close attention here to make sure you leave nothing behind. The little crevasse could harbor bacteria and cause vaginal infections.

Storing is pretty easy. This toy comes with a black satin pouch that is large enough for the toy and it's charger. While in this pouch, it can be stored just about anywhere. In your toy box, in it's original packaging, or in a random drawer around your home will suffice. If you do not plan on storing your new Lelo toy in it's pouch, you will have some issues. Since this toy is silicone, it should not be stored side by side with another silicone toy(unless it is in it's pouch).

Charging this toy is very simple. Simply plug the charger into your wall and insert the other end into the base of the toy. You will know the toy is finished charging when the blinking lights of the controls on the handle stop flashing. I personally have never been able to drain this toy. I can say for certain that the charge last at least an hour. An hour is the longest frame of time I have used it.

Packaging

This toy comes to you in some pretty elaborate packaging. This toy comes in a lovely Lelo box inside a thick paper shell. The boxes are both rectangular in shape. First, I will describe the outer shell. This portion is white and purple and is clearly labeled as the Mona from Lelo. The first of the largest panels is just purple with "LELO" written in silver. The other large panel is an image of the Mona inside. The toy of this panel tells us the toy is from Lelo, and the bottom tells you that the toy is the "Mona Pleasure Object". Right below this they state the contents of the box. These include: The toy, Toy Manual, charger, and a 1 year warranty from Lelo. One of the slimmer side panels tells you the safety precautions taken in making this toy, and the other pretty much just boasts about the Mona being awesome.

The inner box is quite plain in comparison to the exterior. The is a plain black box with only "LELO" written on it. This box is made of a much thicker cardboard that looks incredibly classy. Inside this box you will find your toy in a cut out in the black satin foam inside. This inner box would be ideal for storage.

The outer shell is recyclable and should be set out as such, should you choose to throw it out. The inner box can also be recycled, should you choose against storing your toy inside. If you do choose to throw this out, the foam around your toy is not recyclable and should be thrown into the trash, sadly.
    • Good for storage
    • Not discreet
    • Recyclable

Personal comments

I had lusted over the Mona for quite sometime before I purchased her. Sadly, she wasn't everything I had hoped she would be for the high cost. She is rechargeable and that is a great quality to have, but that and the quantity of options don't make her quite worth the cost in my opinion. She is not waterproof, which I knew, but for the cost you would think she would be. I had also hoped she would hold the setting for me when I turned it off, but I was greatly mistaken here as well.

Mona is a great toy, don't get me wrong. She comes with a lot of variety, high intensity vibes, and many options. But I'm just not sure it's worth the price.
