Mona - g-spot vibrator by LELO - review by Gunsmoke

The Lelo Mona page on EF clearly identifies her as g-spot vibrator but like many well made g-spot toys, they can also be used to great effect as clitoral vibes - and this is indeed true of Mona.

This toy has been on my wish list for a very long time. In spite of 11 very favorable reviews, we held out because we had purchased the Lelo Elise and were disappointed by it's performance - the vibes were just not strong enough for my wife.

Side Note: Pulling the trigger on Mona was enabled by swapping our Form 2 for an EF gift card. I've read a lot about the pros and cons of toy swaps - I'm here to say that I am whole hearted supporter. Metal, ceramic, glass and silicone toys can all be sanitized, so there is no reason not to trade something that you are not using for something that you'd like to try - or as in this case, a gift card.

Back to the review:
Mona is a first class toy for both g-spot and clitoral stimulation.

Like many Lelo toys, Mona is a combination of non-porous plastic and premium grade silicone. The silicone has a matte finish that creates some drag on your skin - making lubrication advisable. Mona has no odor - nor any texture to speak off.

Mona is basically a plastic toy with a silicone cover over the portion used for penetration. This makes the toy very rigid which is useful in creating a strong vibrating experience. The rigid shaft also helps make it effective for it's primary design target - the g-spot. When you find the right spot - Mona will not bend which would tend to minimize vibration. Mona's stiff shaft makes sure the vibes are applied directly to your g-spot - to maximum effect.

Mona's moderate size and smooth texture make it suitable for beginners and advanced users alike.

The design of the Lelo Elise and Mona are very similar. Oddly Mona is slightly smaller than Elise - but if you look at the descriptions - Elise is listed as a 1.25" diameter and Mona 1.5". But if you put them side by side, Elise is obviously larger.

Diameter is a nuanced measure when toys are not round - neither Elise or Mona are round. They are both profiled for easy insertion and maximal stimulation of the g-spot - and both accomplish this feat with great success.

I measured the toys by using a caliper to find the maximum dimension for each. The largest dimension I can measure is 1.375" - not 1.5" as advertised. This may or may not be a problem - for my wife it was no problem at all - she loves the size and shape. For the record Elise measured just a little less than 1.5" - not 1.25" as advertised.

Both Elise and Mona are very well made - I actually like the control buttons of Elise better because they are harder to mis-hit. Mona's buttons are easier to press - but also easier to mis-hit.

Traveling with these toys should not be a problem. They do not phallic overtones and have locking features that prevent them from coming on inadvertently. Both are also quiet - which is important whether you are staying a hotel with thin walls or in a friends spare room.

The biggest weakness of both toys is the plug-in charging mechanism - making cleanup more difficult than newer toys from Jimmy Jane and Je Joue that have magnetic chargers. Here the Elise is better than Mona. Elise's buttons are sealed but Mona's buttons are not and must be cleaned with great care.

Mona (and Elise) have a wide range of strengths and functions. Although I cannot discern a significant different, my wife swears that Mona's vibrations are stronger. My wife prefers steady vibrations - so I can verify that the pulsating functions all work - but can't comment on how they compare.

Mona's vibrations are designed to be strongest right in the center of the penetrating bulb to maximize g-spot stimulation - but radiates through the head well enough for effective clitoral stimulation.

Although Mona has 8 different levels of vibration - the first 3 are so weak as to be without use - at least for us. We would never buy a single speed toy - we almost always go to the highest speed for most of our play. Mona's top speed is good enough for 4 out-of 5 stars and has a very low noise level 2 out-of 5 at the highest setting.

Neither Elise or Mona are waterproof - so do not attempt to use them any where near water.

As rechargeable toys go - we have no problem getting from 2-4 sessions between recharges - about 25-35 minutes of use. I'm sure that they can go much longer - but we recharge to make sure that maximum power is available.

My biggest complaint about Mona is that I feel like I need to be too careful when cleaning it. I've gotten use to throwing our Form 2 or Mimi into the tub and washing them up. But one must take reasonable care to keep water way from Mona's buttons and the charging port. The charging port of Mona does have a cover which is helpful - but no sure thing.

As a silicone toy - you should not use silicone lubricant. For many, the modest size may not require artificial lubrication at all - but if you need it, use a water-based product. We are a rare breed in that we prefer oil-based lubes - and have had no problem using our favorite Yes brand lube.

All Lelo toys come in nice boxes and are suitable for long-term storage, we store our toys together in a 'toy drawer'.

As you can tell by this review we are very pleased with the latest addition to our collection. For us Mona is not a game changer - but still a useful toy. For us new toys are part of an evolution. Mona taught us that we've become so use to waterproof - that one that is not can be a problem. On the positive side, it also showed us that strong vibes are best isolated from her hands - which will likely result in us trying something new like Je Joue's Uma.

To be honest we we almost went with Uma - but bought Mona because it was suppose to be larger. As it turns out, Mona is smaller than stated - which was a disappointment.

All in all Mona is a well made toy - but the design is old. There are newer products that are as effective that have also added new features like waterproof magnetic rechargers. We love the living and learning - and hope you do as well.

As a guy - I get a different view of how toys work - but lack a first hand understanding of how they feel. What I found interesting about Mona is how with very little force, my wife's vagina 'absorbed' her - as if it belonged there. Unlike with other smooth toys like metal and glass which easily rotate upon entry - Mona stayed precisely in place. I can simply adjust the vibe level and let it 'play' along her g-spot - freeing my hands for other activities like anal play - because she usually drives the clit-vibe.

The result of all this was the Mona throbbing on her g-spot, the Slim 5 in her ass and Mimi hammering her clit - resulting in a fun and rewarding triple-vibe orgasm.

Mona has been such a great g-spot vibe - it has been hard for me to get her to try it out as a clit vibe. However once I succeeded - she was quite pleased with the results. As her favorite Vixskin Johnny played along her deeper a-spot - she applied Mona on high speed to her clit bringing on an intense blended orgasm to rival any other combination we have put together.

Although not quite as strong as Mimi - Mona has the advantage of isolating her hands from the strong vibes - which can be a problem with Mimi.
