Mona, Mona, Mona

Like those before me, I love Mona. She is a perfect medium size toy that offers nice rumbly vibrations as well as pulsation patterns. She is highly crafted, smooth to the touch, and comes in my favorite color. What's not to like about her? I just wish she was a five vroom toy then I'd be over the top in love with her.

Use

Mona by Lelo is designed for g-spot exploration. It could also be used for external stimulation as well to tease and caress your body during foreplay over all of your erogenous zones that enjoy attention and being stimulated. I bought it for the specific purpose of g-spot exploration because I have not been able to find mine and am on the hunt for something that works for my body.

You can use Mona during self-exploration or couple's play. I feel this would be best for those who are just starting to experiment with g-spot toys and exploration like myself. It did not deliver results in that aspect, but I feel that it was a nice tool to help me become familiar with using toys specifically designed for this purpose. It is not intimidating so beginners shouldn't be worried about a penis shaped toy.

I've used Mona for g-spotting and clitoral stimulation, but I must say it is not strong enough for me to achieve climax clitorally, but I generally require powerhouse toys with 5 Vrooms along with climax cream of some sort to achieve this. I know that is not the case for every user, and I did enjoy how it felt on my clitoris so I can see how many will be satisfied with using it this way as well.

Material / Texture

It is made out of a smooth, soft, velvety, body-safe silicone. Silicone is one of the safest product materials on the market and is considered a 10 on the safety scale because it isn't porous and won't harbor bacteria. It is also made out of food-grade material, is phthalate free, latex free, and hypoallergenic. The handle is made out of plastic which is considered an 8 on the safety scale and is also considered phthalate free, latex free, and hypoallergenic.

It is ideal for those who prefer smooth toys because there is no added texture anywhere. The core of the toy is very hard and firm which means there is no flexibility to this at all. The firmness allows for better pressure to be applied to the g-spot. There is a very faint seam on the toy that can be seen, but not felt which is wonderful because you do not have to worry about it potentially catching on your delicate areas. There is also a seam along where the plastic handle and the silicone toy meet, but that part is not inserted.

Mine did not have any odor even right out of the box and it also does not have any taste.

Design / Shape / Size

Mona comes in two color options purple and red. I chose purple because it is one of my favorite colors and it goes wonderfully with the majority of my toys in my toy collection. The handle and controls are white and very sleek looking. Lelo is indented at the top of the handle.

Mona's design is simple, she has a slight curve in the middle for g-spot exploration. She is thicker at the top than she is at this curve.

Her overall length is 8" with 4 1/2" of those inches being insertable. Her girth varies slightly from place to place. At the tip she is 4" around, 4 1/2" around in the middle, 4" at the bottom of the curve, 3" in the center, and 5" at the base. The base is very nice in size and is easy to hold onto and I appreciate the fact that her overall length is not much larger than my hand.

Although Mona is thicker than the majority of my toys, I think Mona's size is suitable for beginners and advanced users alike. It is more sophisticated in appearance than your realistic toys so beginners wouldn't be intimidated by having Mona in their toy collection. Advanced users will appreciate it's silky appearance and it's safety features.

Although Mona isn't a realistic sex-toy it is obvious what its intended use is so if being discreet is important to you, please hide it when not in use.

Here are some comparison pictures of Mona with Uma. They are very similar in size and I wanted to show that for those who have one or the other of those toys and like the shape of it. I will state Mona doesn't have the power as Uma does, but is similar in shape so that's all I'm comparing the two for.

Mona is small enough for travel and will fit easily in your purse, bag, or jacket pocket. Mona also has a really nice feature for traveling and that is a locking capability. Just hold down all four buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds, and it will lock in place and will not come on during travel. To unlock, you do the same by holding down all four buttons and it will unlock. This is great addition to this toy if you are traveling with it because you do not have to worry about it coming on in your bag and happily buzzing around and losing some of your battery life.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This is the second Lelo toy I have purchased so I am getting used to their controls, but I still consider them to be one of the oddest I have seen on a vibrator. The four button controls are located on the handle of the toy and are very similar to a game controller with up, down, right, and left buttons. The right and left buttons are + and – buttons.

To use, hold the + to turn on. Continue pressing it to increase the levels of vibration. It has several levels of vibration starting off fairly low almost non-existent and steadily increases in power to a pretty steady 4 vroom at the highest setting. Press the + to increase the vibrations and the – to decrease the vibration levels. To turn off, press down the – until it is completely off. The up and down buttons allow you to go into the five pre-programmed stimulation modes. You can press the + to increase the power in these modes which is a really nice feature. Press up to go to the next pattern, and press down to go back to the previous pattern. I really like this feature because if you were to bypass a setting you really liked, you could just go back to it easily instead of having to cycle through all of the settings agagin. As you can see, the controls are pretty easy to use and not complicated at all.

The 6 settings are as follows:
1) Continuous vibrations
2) Pulse-pulse-pulse
3) Fast pulse-pulse-pulse
4) Roller coaster that revs up and then goes down and then repeats.
5) wave (gradually increasing, then decreasing)
6) Random pattern to it that I could tell

The instruction manual says to charge the unit monthly. It was not charged when it came to me so I had to charge it before playing with it. To charge, remove the protective silicone cap on the bottom of the handle. Insert the DC plug into the socket until you feel it click, and then insert the main plug into a wall socket. The white LED light will pulse to indicate it is charging. Once completely charged, it will quit blinking and emit a steady white glow. It takes approximately 2 hours to fully charge and the instruction manual states it will give you up to 4 hours of pleasure after fully charged and has a standby time of up to 90 days. It contains a Lithium-Ion 450 mAH 3.7V rechargeable battery. Do not use while charging and do not charge for more than 24 hours.

If the battery is running low, the LED will start to glow red informing the user it is time to charge. I like this feature because I have products that have quit on me without warning in the middle of things.

Mona is fairly quite at the lowest settings and at the highest setting can be heard over the covers, but not through a closed door or through thin walls.

I have found when used for internal stimulation, if you squeeze your pc muscles it will lessen the intensity of Mona. You can even hear the difference in the motor from when you squeeze and release. I don't personally like that aspect of it, but it does give me an indication that I'm performing my kegel exercises.

The vibrations are nice and rumbly which I love and prefer over the buzzy vibrations of some other vibrators. They can be felt throughout the entire shaft of the toy, but are concentrated more around the tip than anywhere else. If you play for a long time with Mona, it tends to warm up and can cause your skin to become warm as well so I would not recommend using it continuously in the same place for a long period of time.

Care and Maintenance

Mona is compatible with water-based lube and you can use warm water and soap to clean it or use your favorite toy cleaner. Lelo recommends you not use silicone-based lube as this could make Mona's silicone become permanently tacky. A water-based lube is the safest option. If you absolutely must use a silicone lube, perform a patch test first. Also, do not submerge in water, do not boil, do not store in direct sunlight, and do not clean with alcohol. It does tend to collect some dust and debris along with your juices so be sure to clean it before and after every use to guarantee that nothing is on it for safety sake.

Always unplug before cleaning and make sure it is completely dry before reconnecting the charger and plugging it into an outlet.

I store mine in the included black storage pouch in my lingerie drawer with all of my other favorite toys that I use on a regular basis.

Packaging

Mona is presented as a box inside of a box. The original box matches the color of the product, has Lelo written on top, shows a picture of the Mona, and has information regarding it around the outside of the box. Inside this box is a black box that I would gladly use as a gift box. It could also be used to store a few smaller toys, condoms, wipes, etc. in it for easy access and I would not be ashamed to leave it out on my nightstand.

Inside the packaging is the toy, charger, storage pouch, instruction manual, and sample of their lubricant. I really like the fact Lelo gives the buyer a storage pouch for Mona because Je Joue fails to do that with their products and I've always been disappointed.

Personal comments

Lelo has a 1 year warranty and a 10 year quality guarantee after the date of original purchase against defects due to faulty workmanship and materials. As with any warranty, any attempt to open or take apart the vibe will invalidate the warranty. The 10 year quality guarantee says if your item breaks within 10 years they will reduce 50% off the listed price of a new Lelo vibe.

For those of you who have Mona's g-spotting sister Gigi, I thought I would do a little comparison. I consider them to both be around 4 Vrooms in intensity. Gigi is smaller in size than Mona and does not have the curve that Mona has. Gigi has a more bulbed head whereas Mona is thicker and flat. Here are a couple pictures comparing them.

Experience

I was really hoping Mona would be the toy for me because I've heard such great things about her. She comes in one of my favorite colors, she's powerful, she feels nice, she makes me wet, BUT she didn't deliver an orgasm for me. I can honestly say though that she makes me wetter than any other toy that I have experimented with so I am moving in the right direction with my quest for the perfect toy, but sadly Mona is not exactly it.

This was my second Lelo product that I have purchased. I find their products to be highly manufactured and built to last. Although I was not able to find my g-spot with this toy, I do not fault Mona for it. I'm still new to g-spot exploration and do not know where my spot is located, and do not have a partner that is willing to help me in this endeavor. I would highly recommend this toy because it is not intimidating and is a very nicely crafted toy and will probably buy other Lelo products in the future.
Follow-up commentary
I've always liked Mona, but have never been able to climax with it. It's a great luxury toy that can get me warmed up nicely.
