Va Va Numb

I wanted to love the Tango, but at the end of the day it had one fatal flaw: no matter what I tried, it couldn't get me off.

Pros:

Sleek design
Usable during intercourse
Cons:
Buzzy, surface vibrations
Power dies down significantly with pressure applied

Use

The We-vibe Tango is basically a bullet vibe, and for what it is, it does it well. It's incredibly strong for being in such a tiny package, and I was amazed the first time I turned it on at exactly how much vroom it has.

Strong, small enough to use during sex, waterproof, rechargeable, and compatible with more than just water-based lube. Sounds like heaven, doesn't it?

And it would be, except for one thing: for me, the Tango was -impossible- to get off with.

Material / Texture

The We-Vibe tango is a plastic bullet vibrator. I couldn't find any information on what the button at the base is made of. The small, brief manual suggested using water-based lubricant only so I initially thought it must be silicone, but it didn't react at all to silicone lubricant when I used it. The button itself has a good solid click to it.

There's no noticeable scent to the toy. The plastic is smooth and hard with no flex or give and no imperfections. We-vibe is written on the base of the toy, near the flare, and on the other side Tango is written. It's very flush, barely able to be read, much less felt.

One thing that I didn't like about the flare to the base is that it's not adequately smoothed off, leaving an unpleasant ridge that can scratch fingers.

Design / Shape / Size

The design of the We-vibe Tango is pretty basic. There's a single button on the bottom that is use to turn the toy on or off and to cycle through patterns, and there are two small metal dots on either side of the button that connect to the magnetic charger. It's a simple, easy to use toy, and anyone who spent thirty seconds with it would be fully comfortable with it.

The shape of it is ideal. The flat tip offers broad stimulation, while the point can be used for pinpoint vibration and the domed side can be used for a mix of both. It offers a great deal of variation in sensation in a small toy, and that's one thing I like about the Tango.

It's also small. Coming in at three and a half inches, it's approximately the size of one of my fingers. This has upsides and downsides. It makes it small enough to use during sex, but also small enough that even a hint of lube makes it difficult to hold onto.

The magnetic charging allows the toy to be truly waterproof, and it's easy enough to connect. The charger won't hold the toy upright, but it's stronger than some magnetic chargers I've encountered. (Looking at you, JeJoue.)

As far as discretion goes, looks-wise while it's off, I could see it passing as a lipstick in a purse.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The vibrations of the We-vibe Tango come in four strengths

1 LOW 3000 rpm VIBE
2 MEDIUM 3600 rpm VIBE
3 HIGH 4200 rpm VIBE
4 ULTRA 4800 rpm VIBE

And four patterns

5 TEASE (10 slow, strong pulses then a quick flutter of pulses)
6 WAVE (the traditional rollercoaster pattern, stays at the top well)
7 PULSE (quick sharp bursts, my least favorite)
8 CHA CHA (buzz, buzz, BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ, buzz, buzz, BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ.)

The vibrations are strong, especially for such a small toy, and they don't really center at any point of the vibe. They make it difficult to hold onto the Tango, especially with lube-slick hands.

With so much strength, I expected to be able to get off with it easily.

When I put it into use, though, I was disappointed.

The issue with the Tango, for me, is that whenever pressure is applied to it, the strength of vibrations die down significantly. This means that I can lightly place the tip of it on my clit and it'll be firm and strong, but when I try and press more firmly or let my labia surround it, the vibrations taper off.

This might work better for someone who likes a light touch, but for someone like me who needs pressure and rubbing along with vibration to get off, it's miserable. I've tried over and over and over again to get off with this toy, but nothing I do works. It feels good at first, but when I try to take it beyond foreplay I end up numb and frustrated.

Also, though it's discreet in shape and size, the Tango is not discreet in volume. It's not loud enough to be heard through a door, but it will be heard clearly underneath blankets from across the room.

It is waterproof, and I had no issues with completely submerging it.

Care and Maintenance

The We-vibe Tango is plastic. This means that it cannot be sterilized, and if you plan to use it on partners who are not fluid-bonded you will need to use a condom or a toy cover.

As far as basic cleaning, I haven't had any issues. The plastic is smooth and rigid and it easily wipes down. The only seam is where the plastic and the base of the toy meet, and I find that it doesn't get gunked up.

Lubricant-wise, the manual says to only use water-based lubricant.

For storage, a bag comes with the Tango. I recommend keeping it in there for one main reason: it's TINY. I've lost this thing more times than I can count.
    • Easy to clean

Packaging

The packaging of the We-vibe Tango was largely uninspiring, and not suited for storage. It did advertise the toy clearly, so that's something to keep in mind. Included is the We-vibe, the charging port, the actual charger, and a cheap-feeling satin bag that could feasibly fit twenty of the Tango.

One thing I was surprised by was exactly how brief the manual was. Very little information was offered, and I feel like this was an oversight on the part of the company.

  • Does the Tango have lights like the Salsa?
    • I was wondering if the Tango has any lights on it like the Salsa does?
    • I have both of these, and yes, it does.

  • We-Vibe salsa/tango vs Lelo Mia
    • well i see 4-5 vrooms vs 3 and i make my choice right there.
BUT the Mia has a usp port charger and is slightly larger.
has anyone tried the two? I have noticed that the we-vibe touch is WAY stronger than the we-vibe 3 but I haven't had a chance to feel either of these great silicone rechargeable bullet type clit vibes.

The Salsa and Tango are both stronger than Mia. Some people say the Salsa and Tango are a 4 but I rated them a 5. Either way, they are both very powerful and should do it for just about anyone when it comes to clitoral stimulation. You got 4 levels of vibrations and 4 "tease" modes with the Tango and Salsa. LELO is a great company but I recommend the Tango and Salsa if you're looking for powerful clitoral stimulation. I own the LELO Siri and I find my We-Vibes to be stronger but they are all nice. To me, I thought the We-Vibe II was a four on the vroom scale. I can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed if you go with one of the We-Vibes :).
    • I love my Mia and the fact that she is USB charged. She's awesome for me. Not super strong but I don't need much. I'm also a bit turned off by Salsa and Tango's controls, but that's just me. I really don't like single button controls on vibes. By the way, Salsa and Tango are plastic, which Mia is also, not silicone.

  • We-Vibe salsa and tango silicone or plastic?
    • I am confused. i was all ready o buya we-vibe tango until i read vbthat it is made of plastic. then i hopped on over to a canadian website and was told that its the same silicone as the other we-vibe products. it certainly looks like the same material
    • The reviews seem to agree that they're plastic.

I have both of these toys and they are both made of plastic. I wasn't into plastic until I seen one of them in action in a store and I was sold. It's easier to clean than silicone which is a plus. It glides nicely on the body. For the strength and functions it's worth it and I got over hating plastic real quick! The We-Vibe touch is silicone so you may want to check it out. I own the We-Vibe II and I plan to buy the touch at some point though I did get to hold each one in the store and the silicone makes the vibrations slightly less intense than the Tango and Salsa but it's still a nice powerful toy and they are all rechargeable, can't beat that!

  • Not on sale?
    • I jumped for joy when I saw that all vibrators were on sale for 25% off... but it seems that the stuff from We-Vibe (including the Tango, which I'm pining for) is not. Anybody know what's going on? Is there some fine-print exclusion I'm not seeing?

I intend to submit a support ticket, but I thought I might as well ask here first to see if I could get a quicker answer. :)
    • Actually on the banner on the main page it says that it's not valid for Jimmyjane, Jopen, JeJoue, and some other brands.

Really? I don't see that anywhere. :( I must be looking in the wrong places.

But I got a reply from Megan that confirmed some brands are excluded. Still kind of lame - I see "all vibes" and think "all vibes," you know? It's a bummer, but I suppose it won't kill me to hold off for now. :P Might go ahead and get Fun Factory's UFO instead. :D

  • We-Vibe Tango Vs Salsa
    • The website says that the motors are identical in both, as well as the settings and materials. The only difference is supposed to be the shape of the tip; the salsa is pointed and the tango is lipstick shaped.

Why is it then that the Salsa has five vrooms but the tango has four..? Has anyone held both to compare them?
    • I think the only difference between them is the shape.
    • I think the motors are the same, and the vroom ratings (if I'm not mistaken) depend on how reviewers rate it. Different people may have different opinions on how powerful a given toy is, depending on their preferences, and which toys they compare it to. I think the only difference is the shape of the tip and the colors offered - the motor, materials, charging is all the same.

We have the Salsa and the Touch. They both use the same charger. The Salsa and the Tango are identical products except the Tango has a lipstick type tip and the Salsa is smooth all around. The first time we charged one of them it took about 3-4 hours for the light to go off. Since then, we have used one or the other of them for up to two hours without noticing a drop in power. Hope that helps.

  • Fairy Mini VS The Hitachi Magic Wand
    • What's your personal preference between the two and why?
    • we have only used the hitachi. It is strong on the vibs. I mean strong. We cant use it on high.
    • A comparison between the Hitachi and the Fairy

I came to conclusion that I wanted to join the clit club and buy the Hitachi. But then I discovered the Fairy. I wrote a whole post about them, comparing and decided to get the Fairy wand because where the Hitachi has only two settings the highest setting only goes to 5,000RPM, and with the Fairy? It has more speed control and the high setting goes to 8,000RPM.

To make a long story short?
I say Fairy. Stronger, more powerful, various size heads depending on which Wand you get, more control and cheaper. With the Mini Wand having some real nifty attachments as well.
