A Pumper's Handbook

Book by California Exotic
Review by: Francis Gray

I have what I've heard called "Small Penis Syndrome." Chances are, if you're reading this, you have it too. Small Penis Syndrome isblo actually a fear or belief that one has a small penis, regardless of one's actual size relative to others. Most men, even those above average (which, for reference, is around five and a half inches erect), are afraid they're too small for their partners or that they're smaller than most other men.

So, mostly for my concerns about my penis and because I wanted to better please my partner, I got a pump. I've had it now for a year and a half, and I've always wondered if there are safe and unsafe levels of pumping, if there are pressures I ought to avoid, if it should hurt, how to go about things properly.

A Pumper's Handbook from California Exotic Novelties tries to provide a resource like that. In actuality, the book is meant more for a beginner looking into pumping. It's a great resource for the beginner but was still useful to me as a more experienced pumper.

A Pumper's Handbook gives an anatomy lesson, some lessons in pumping (start slow, nothing should hurt, etc.), and a game plan if you're specifically pumping for a enlarging your penis long term. There are also quite a few pictures of men using various pumps and an explanation of each of 12 different pumps with suggestions for your selection based on your experience level with pumping.

As a more experienced pumper, I was hoping for a little more detailed information in this book. It does not contain a pressure value that is unsafe for use on that area of the body; although knowing that if it doesn't hurt, it's a safe amount of pressure to use is very important.

I was also hoping for a bit more information and, as a straight man, fewer photos of men using pumps. It can't be perfect; and I'm not opposed to male nudity; and I rather like beginners' guides, so these are small imperfections in my eyes.

The book is also clearly a method of selling the company's line of penis pumps. Again, it has the information it ought to in it, and I understand how hard it is to introduce men to sex toys sometimes, so that didn't really phase me. For a beginner, the explanation of their line would be extremely helpful.

Pumping itself feels really good. And I mean really good. I'd recommend it as a recreational activity for any man who wasn't looking to use it to enlarge his penis. For those out there looking to enlarge, get a more sophisticated pump (one with a gauge) if you can. For any man looking to pump, get a guide like A Pumper's Handbook to give you some basic facts before you start using your new toy.

Pumping without some knowledge first can cause damage, and no one wants to damage that part of himself. This book gives you the information you need to start pumping safely, and I recommend it highly for that reason.
