He's On Top - erotic fiction by Cleis Press Inc. - review by Sweet Surrender

When I received my latest product to review, I was intrigued. I received “He’s On Top: Erotic Stories of Male Dominance and Female Submission.” It is describes as a collection of 17 short stories about having a male in control of the sexual situations in the stories. Being a dabbler in erotic writing, I was hoping to read these great stories that were good enough to be published. Being a lifestyle submissive, I was hoping on pointers. I was highly disappointed.

While many of the stories are written well, most are not. And there are even several that do not fit the subject of the book. One sticks out in my mind that, yes, is about a male dominant, with a female submissive... who leaves to go have ‘vanilla’ sex with a random woman, leaving his sub tied to the bedpost on a leash. Yes, dominating, but the story isn’t about that dominance. It’s about a random sex encounter. Another is about a husband who lies to a wife about fidelity, so he can dominate her for a night of rough sex. All in all, I was not impressed. As for some good on topic stories, there are a few about the different aspects of orgasm control. Others about ‘for hire’ services to learn dominance or submission.

All the stories, though, are highly erotic and open your imagination to things that can be accomplished through these types of situations and male dominance. For pointers on how to expand your vocabulary in writing, the terms are very graphic, yet non-insulting in nature. Want a way to tickle your man’s dominant side? I give the book 3 stars simply because I don’t believe all the stories stay on topic. In a compilation, that is the main thing I look for.
