A silky smooth shave even for those without a "coochy"

Even though I'm just a guy who used Coochy creme in a pinch, I'd say it's a quality product for any gender. It allows you to have a smooth shave with minimal expense. It might be irritating for people with sensitive skin, but it's worth a try if you're looking for a shave cream.

Use

I admit that I'm not the typical female shaver. I've never shaved my legs and, as a side note, have never been a female. I'm just a guy who ran out of my manly man shaving cream. Thankfully, my girlfriend saved the day with some Coochy shave creme. Despite the name, the cream works for coochy-less individuals in non-coochy areas. With it I achieved a mostly smooth shave that left a girlfriend-approved scent on my skin.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

I'm currently using Dove hair products, and I would say the cream is slightly thinner than the Dove brand conditioner. It has a similar feel, but is a bit more watery. If you dispense too much and gravity is working against you, the product will probably end up on your floor/tub/wherever else you're attempting to shave. When you rub it into the skin, it feels soft but thin. It does not lather and instead leaves a glossy layer on top of your skin. This makes it relatively easy to see where you've shaved. It's easy to rinse off and leaves skin feeling silky and smooth.

Taste / Aroma

I used the pear berry scent. I don't have a very sensitive nose, so I'd say it smells like most fruity shower products marketed to girls. I didn't really smell any pear, but I could definitely pick up a sweet and artificial berry smell. Well, not artificial as in chemical-like, but it didn't quite smell like berries you'd buy in a produce section. The scent did linger on my skin after a shave, though it was not noticeable unless you buried your nose against me. My girlfriend could only smell it in the hour after I used it. Neither of us have tried tasting the cream.

Performance

My girlfriend has owned the product for over 6 months, and she is down to the bottom on the bottle. She uses it sporadically, though, so its longevity will depend on your own usage. A little seems to go a long way, therefore I think one could make the cream last.

Packaging

According to my girlfriend, the Coochy creme came wrapped in plastic. She appreciated this, because it came along with other products. It was ultimately not all that important since it did not leak, but it's a nice safety precaution.

For the product itself, we have the older bottle which can be seen under the Original Coochy creme's product picture. It is a 4-ounce plastic bottle with a push top. You just push on the back of the cap to reveal a spout, squeeze the bottle et voila - the shaving creme is dispensed. It is not at all difficult to get out of the bottle. I would not say the label is discreet just because of the product name itself.

    • Easy to use / dispense

Special Features

The ingredients are as follows, and can also be found on the product page:

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Propylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Lavendula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glarbal (Licorice) Root Extract, Echinacea Agustoifolia Extract, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Extract, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Epiloblum Angustifolium Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Lilium Candidum Bulb Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Trifolium Pratense (Clover) Flower Extract, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Benzyl Alcohol, Polyquarternium-10, Potassium Sorbstat, Disodium EDTA

If I did have a coochy I'd be careful, since the cream does contain glycerin. Then again, my girlfriend is pretty liberal when using it on her intimate bits and has not had any issues. I suppose it depends on the coochy in question.

Experience

Now it's time to get to the good stuff. I used Coochy creme on my face, back, and chest. I have never had facial acne, but have had issues with my chest and back before. Oddly enough, I found that the cream provided a rash-free shave on my chest and back, but left my face with some razor burn and irritation. Even with this issue, I still got a smooth shave in all areas. While I will be going back to regular sensitive skin shaving cream for my face, I wouldn't be opposed to using Coochy creme on my body again since it left me feeling so smooth and with a smell that my girlfriend really likes.
Follow-up commentary
Although the Coochy shave creme works well, I have found that there are cheaper and more convenient options that work just as well (mainly hair conditioner). I would still recommend the product, but I think that you can do okay by using other products found in your local drugstore as well.

Your description of the scent gave me laugh: "I'd say it smells like most fruity shower products marketed to girls." I know exactly what you mean, too, which is the weird part.

    Thanks for the review!
