Romantic candle - mist by Kingman - review by Sam (aka Jul!a)

I am so torn on this candle. If you're pretty close to it, the scent is really strong and absolutely amazing. But if you back up a few feet, you can't smell it anymore, which really sucks.

There really isn't anything in the way of packaging, just the candle, which you can easily leave out without having to fear anybody giving you a hard time for it. The front says "Champagne Lights scented candle with pheromones" and in addition to the traditional warnings of "don't burn unattended or for more than 3 or 4 hours at a time" and "trim wick to 1/4" before relighting" there's a little paragraph that says "For that added glow of romance, relax and bathe to Champagne Lights Candle scent will naturally freshen room when melting."

The jar is pretty small, and boasts a 12 hour burn time. Based on the hour or so I've had it lit, that seems about right, and I'm a little impressed for a jar that's only a few inches tall and about the size of a small fist. When you first open the jar, be careful, because it's not made of solid wax. It looks more like wax granules or something like that. Either way, they'll make a mess if you're not careful. I've still got little granules all over my bedroom.

The scent when you first open it and haven't burned it is amazingly misleading. When you're real close to it, it smells really strong. If you leave it out with the lid off, it'll definitely lightly scent a small room. But when burning it, well, you have to get so close to it to smell it that you might end up burning your nose, and that's bad. And also disappointing, because if it emitted more scent, I would be so in love with these candles. However, those with more sensitive noses might really like these, since the scent isn't overpowering.

I've got the apple cinnamon scent at home, and the scent just screams 'fall' to me. It's pretty much the epitome of what apple cinnamon should smell like, being just a touch heavy on the cinnamon. It's also got a lovely red color. It looks a bit more orange in the video, but the burnt wax is a lovely dark red color.

After the wax cooled and hardened, I didn't get any more granules coming loose. It sort of smells like a burnt match now, very lightly, but I attribute that to it having been lit with a match. To retain as pure of a scent as possible with a burnt wick, I recommend lighting with a lighter.

Neither my fiance or myself noticed anything as far as pheromones go, and while it's a nice accompaniment to other burning candles (no fighting scents really), you'll need a few of them to do much of anything by candle light.
