Ha-Ho-Holy Hitachi!

Noise and bulkiness aside, I am in love with my hitachi. Great performance and sleek, ergonomic simplicity make this a great toy for solo use, beginners, advanced users, well hell everyone should have one. It has incredibly powerful, deep thuddy vibrations that are sure to please. This has over 100 5 star reviews on Eden for a reason. It Rocks!

Use

The hitachi is a very popular, very powerful wand vibrator that has been available since the seventies and is still creating smiles on a daily basis to this day. It can be used solo, for foreplay, as a sensual all over body massager, solo as a massager, and with some strategy during PIV sex too. You just gotta put yourself in the right position.

Beginners beware, this is super strong. But get it regardless. It is a must have and with practice you will learn to love your hitachi. I garuantee it. Advanced users get one too. This vibe is super powerful so it ideal for power whores (i.e. ME) and anyone can find a use for this.

The hitachi is not the most discreet toy, it is very loud and would not be the best for a dorm situation. Also, I think this goes without saying that keep this away from water since it is powered by electricity.

Material / Texture

The hitachi is made from firm plastic all over excluding the massaging head which is made from a more flexible plastic that has a bit of give to it. The "neck" of the massager also seems to have some shock absorption and flexibility to it. There is no texture. There is nothing spectacular or special to note about the material of the hitachi. All the magic is in the performace of this vibe.

It is good to know that since the hitachi is made from plastic, a non-porous food grade, hypoallergenic and phthalates free material, this vibe is relatively safe. Eden gives it a safety rating of eight. This toy will not absorb fluids and thus is able to be cleaned thoroughly.

I did not notice any odor or taste when I removed this from the box. It did not have that chemical, factory smell that many plastic products have.
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

The hitachi size wise can also be summed up rather easily. Big and bulky; but that's okay. It is about a foot long with a massaging head on it that measures a bit over 2.5" in diameter, the size of the head is comparable in size to a tennis ball. It has a smooth shiny plastic handle with a switch in the middle for low, high and off. The design is simple and basic. It is power by electricity so it also has a cord that is a bit over 6 feet in length. The handle portion is about 9" which allows a whole lot to hold onto and allows for alot of the vibration from the head to be absorbed, but the long handle can also get in the way when trying to use the vibe during sex. The design is perfect in my opinion since the long handle makes it very easy and comfortable to use solo. It is a bit heavy but in all honesty it is not too heavy to manage.

The only thing to remember is that this is a large toy with a cord that can not easily be hidden. You can put it back in the box, in a drawer, closet or whatever for storage but it could easily be found and identified as a massager.
    • Ergonomic
    • Partner play

Functions / Performance / Controls

PERFORMANCE! This is where the hitachi really shines. There are only two speeds. Low and high. That's what they are labeled as anyway. I have renamed my settings to high, and holy shit! The hitachi offers extremely deep, thuddy vibrations on both settings that have never yet failed to please me on either setting. Because I am such a power whore I can use the low setting against my skin and keep direct contact but if I crank it up to high I have to take a little break or I will instantly come. Fail proof every time.

The controls are super easy to use and the switch will audibly click and take a bit of force to operate so I have no problem with accidental shut of or accidental speed changes. The control is idiot proof really. Click the switch down for low. Back to center for off, and click the switch up for high.

Obviously not waterproof since it is electric, and it is loud. It has one hell of a motor in it and I am too happy with the performance to even care a little bit how noisy this is.
    • Easy to use
    • Not discreet at all
    • Powerful

Care and Maintenance

This toy is super easy to care for. It's electric so you NEVER have to use batteries. To save a bit more moolah and energy this can be unplugged after each use. It is made from non-porous plastic so it is easy to clean as well. After each use I just wipe mine down with a toy wipe and let it air dry. This can be streilized by cleaning it off with a 10% bleach solution too. I store mine next to my bed (easy access ... yes!) since I don't have prying eyes to worry about. It can be stored in the retro looking box, drawer or wherever you would like but it will take up some room.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The hitachi comes in a retro looking cardboard box with large print proudly displaying that it contains a hitachi magic wand. There are pictures on the box as well as some instruction as well. Not discreet but it would make a good gift. It doesn't say SEX TOY! all over it or anything, it is just obviously a massager that most people in their right mind would totally pervert. The box is decent enough for storage. I kept mine for novelty reasons but it can certainly be recycled.
    • Good for storage
    • Minimal
    • Recyclable

Personal comments

I will never get tired of my hitachi. It love it. I feel that I made an excellent purchase by picking up this highly affordable and great quality vibrator that out performs all other clitoral vibrators that I have ever used. Buy a hitachi, you won't regret it. The other great thing is that there are attachments available for the hitachi that can only add to the pleasure. I have not picked any up yet but I sure as hell plan to. There are several available but here are the two I want for an idea of what else the hitachi may be capable of.

Gee-Whizzard

Pleasure Dome
Follow-up commentary
Of course I still love my hitachi. It sees some foreplay action, but it mainly just gives my partner and I some kick ass massages. It is great for a sensual warm up between partners and for relaxing tired or sore muscles. It has great, deep rumbly vibes that make this totally worth the price and it is made so well. I see this lasting me indefinitely and god forbid if something happened to it I would get another one for sure. Too bad there's not an "I still love it" option because I certainly would have chosen that if it were available.

  • Good alternative to Hitachi?
    • I had a rechargeable mini fairy wand, but last week it ended up breaking, and now I'm desperately looking for a similar type wand massager. I've looked at a couple, but I'd really like some input on which massager people are recommending. Thanks!
    • I have 3 wand massagers that I use at times. There are things I love and hate about all of them. The hitachi is the most powerful one, but it is so loud! The Wahl 2 speed is also great. It is the quietest and I love how rumbly the vibes are! But none of the attachments are quite right for me. If I could only have one wand I would get Inspire. It has a button that you press and release when the power is at your desired strength. In stead of just 2 speeds like the hitachi or the wahl you have control over how much power you want to use. The Inspire has a detachable silicone head. My complaints are that it gets hot after about 20 minutes, at at the higher speeds it gets pretty loud. Your toy was rechargable, but the wands I listed all plug in and have more power. Good luck with your replacement!

Ooh, thanks! Yeah, the rechargeable wands tend to get really hot too, plus it would die after 20-30 minutes, so I needed to stay near an outlet at all times. Noise isn't really an issue for me (at least not right now). The one I had before had an adjustable wheel for vibration intensity, but to be honest, I always turned it all the way up and never changed it, so maybe I don't really need adjustable speeds.

I've never tried any of the detachable heads. Are they worth buying?

  • Will it be out of stock until the sale is over?
    • Ekk! It is out of stock again! I keep missing it. I finally have enough to buy it but I guess the discount made it sell like crazy. Does it typically not come back in until the sale is over?

Panicing a bit because I'm moving soon and will need to purchase it within the next week.
    • You can open a support ticket from your account dashboard to ask about it. If they know when it'll be coming in they'll be happy to tell you.

  • Strength
    • Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
    • Quote: Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
Probably not for less than fifty dollars. A friend of mine is saving for the Sybian or The Rock Box. I can't speak from experience about either of those vibrators though. However, if you want something similar to the Hitachi, I would suggest either The Wahl or a Fairy Wand. I own the Hitachi, Wahl, and Fairy Mini but highly suggest the Wahl. It is the most rumbly of the three and is nearly silent.

I think the Hitachi is the strongest vibe i know of.

  • Hitachi Wand Vs. Acyvube
    • Is the hitachi better than the acuvibe for anyone who has had the chance to try both? I'm under the impression that they are essentially the same thing but maybe I'm wrong...
    • I have had both, and they are really both very good toys. The main difference really is that the Acuvibe is rechargeable and can be used cordless, while the Hitachi must plug in to work. Personally, I think that the Hitachi is slightly stronger, and it has definitely outlasted my Acuvibes - I have had two, and they both broke down after about six months or so.

We are going on 3+ years on the acuvibe. The shell is starting to crack but it still functions great, I just wanted to know if we should switch when I do want to buy a new one. More powerful sounds good :)

  • The Size !!!!!!!
    • Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
    • In the way of what, exactly? It's not really a toy for couples play and actually it's not even designed for masturbation but has become the Holy Grail of vibrators through decades of word of mouth.
    • Quote: Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
It's really only meant for external use. So if you are talking about insertion it probably would be a bit big.

  • Universal
    • Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
    • There are a few. If you search the site you can find a couple.
    • Quote: Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
I don't know if I understand the question, but the attachment we bought for our Hitachi is a "universal" attachment that we bought from another store. It's too "floppy" for me, but is a nice g-spot attachment, or would be if it was a little stiffer!

  • Bullet Vibes that rival the Hitachi Magic Wand
    • Hello, everyone!

Recently I've sold my Hitachi to a friend, and I've been on the market for a new clit vibe. I'm one of those girls who has a "clit-o-steel&quo t;, so I can't really get off unless I have something powerful on my clit. I bought a LAYAspot by FunFactory, thinking it would be a nice, powerful bullet to use when I'm with my partner, and I realized that it barely even packs a punch!

I guess I'm being a bit picky. I don't want something that's as strong as the Hitachi's HIGH setting, but something kind of inbetween the two, one that has a few nice, strong modes.

I was looking at the more expensive clit vibes- JeJoue's MiMi and Lelo's Siri. Do you think that they would be strong enough? Do you recommend anything? Thanks guys!

U had the flexi anal rod prior to the Hitachi..It is strong as well, and it probably right between the hitachi hi and low... I actually prefer the two setting on Hitach..SHIT and OHH SHIT.. The flexi rod has about 4 if i'm not mistaken..Plus it is flexible as well.. Costs about 25.00

Its on a review of mine already..

    • This is by far the best purchase I've made. My wife has a tough time reaching orgasm and needs the intense vibrations for her to climax. The Hitachi far exceeds this task, she doesn't use any other toy now, always reaches for the Hitachi. Just need to get her the G-spot attachment and she is set up. Thanks again.
    • I completely agree. The Magic Wand is the best vibrator ever.

  • Have you ever used a wand?
    • HI I was wondering if you have ever used anything like the Fairy Wand? I have used the baby fairy wand but its tiny... the size of the larger ones kind of intimidate me ... what are your thoughts on them and should I get one?
    • I dislike most of them intensely. They're too strong, too big and they make my whole vulva - as well as my hands - feel numb.

      Many folks love them, though!
    • I used the Wanachi Mini, which I really liked. Unfortunately it fell apart, it seems mine wasn't the only one either. I did contact Pipedream though and they seem eager to correct this problem!
