Great toy. It's extremely powerful and you do not have to worry about batteries or charging. The toy is also incredibly loud and bulky, which does not make it ideal for travel or campus/roommate living.

Use

The wand is remarkably powerful. It can be used all over the body as a general massager to relieve tension in aching or sore muscles. It can be used on erogenous zones as well, with or without any extra attachments. This toy is a fantastic clit stimulator, though it might be too intense for some. This toy is a lot of fun to tease with, and is a great addition to some light BDSM play--specifically restraints and orgasm denial.

Material / Texture

The wand is made entirely of plastic. As such, it does not have the often pungent odor I've come to associate with other sex toys. The handle and switch are smooth, hard, and non-porous. The head of wand is also made of plastic, but it is softer and cushioned. This is a good thing since the intense vibrations could actually be painful without a little give. The neck of the wand is flexible, which also relieves some of the pressure of the stimulator.

Design / Shape / Size

I'm not going to lie. This toy is fugly and awkward-looking. Its design is simple, and there's nothing aesthetically appealing about it in the least. It's quite a large toy, which makes it potentially difficult to store. Though let's be honest, it's probably going to stay next to your bed anyway. It's also pretty hefty. If you have an intruder, and can't find your baseball bat or tire iron, just reach for your magic wand.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This toy is pretty awesome in terms of performance. It's remarkably easy to use. Just plug it in, and The vibrations, which are localized in the head of the toy, live up to the hype of its name. As I stated in the title of the review, I really didn't have to take my pants off. I was able to climax in less than 30 seconds through underwear and jeans. There are two settings: JACKHAMMER and JACKHAMMER+. The noise level is somewhere between a leaf blower and a weedwhacker, depending on the setting.

Care and Maintenance

This toy is pretty easy to clean and maintain. I don't use soap and water, simply because I don't want to get any of the electrical parts wet. Toy cleaner works well on all parts of the wand. I wouldn't recommend sharing this toy, because the head of the toy seems to be somewhat porous. It's fun to share with attachments, or if you can get a condom over the head of the toy. Packaging

Simple packaging. The pictures on the box suggest that the company believes that people only use the magic wand for aching muscles though.

Experience

I've used this toy for solo play and with one female partner. I managed to get a condom over the head, as I said before to make for a safer session. It was a LOT of fun with my partner bound with the under the bed restraint system. The toy is great for all over stimulation and teasing through orgasm denial in this fashion.
Follow-up commentary
I still love it. It's my go-to toy. However, I have noticed that you get accustomed to the vibrations to the point where it almost seems like you've lost sensation/become desensitized. This is not permanent in any way. I just wait a day or so, and everything is back to normal. The toy has held up quite well considering the heavy use, though I only wish it was battery-powered or wireless. The length of the cord can be a bit frustrating at times.

  • Good alternative to Hitachi?
    • I had a rechargeable mini fairy wand, but last week it ended up breaking, and now I'm desperately looking for a similar type wand massager. I've looked at a couple, but I'd really like some input on which massager people are recommending. Thanks!
    • I have 3 wand massagers that I use at times. There are things I love and hate about all of them. The hitachi is the most powerful one, but it is so loud! The Wahl 2 speed is also great. It is the quietest and I love how rumbly the vibes are! But none of the attachments are quite right for me. If I could only have one wand I would get Inspire. It has a button that you press and release when the power is at your desired strength. In stead of just 2 speeds like the hitachi or the wahl you have control over how much power you want to use. The Inspire has a detachable silicone head. My complaints are that it gets hot after about 20 minutes, at at the higher speeds it gets pretty loud. Your toy was rechargable, but the wands I listed all plug in and have more power. Good luck with your replacement!

      Ooh, thanks! Yeah, the rechargeable wands tend to get really hot too, plus it would die after 20-30 minutes, so I needed to stay near an outlet at all times. Noise isn't really an issue for me (at least not right now). The one I had before had an adjustable wheel for vibration intensity, but to be honest, I always turned it all the way up and never changed it, so maybe I don't really need adjustable speeds.

      I've never tried any of the detachable heads. Are they worth buying?

      Probably not for less than fifty dollars. A friend of mine is saving for the Sybian or The Rock Box. I can't speak from experience about either of those vibrators though. However, if you want something similar to the Hitachi, I would suggest either The Wahl or a Fairy Wand. I own the Hitachi, Wahl, and Fairy Mini but highly suggest the Wahl. It is the most rumbly of the three and is nearly silent.

      We are going on 3+ years on the acuvibe. The shell is starting to crack but it still functions great, I just wanted to know if we should switch when I do want to buy a new one. More powerful sounds good :)

      U had the flexi anal rod prior to the Hitachi..It is strong as well, and it probably right between the hitachi hi and low... I actually prefer the two setting on Hitach..SHIT and OHH SHIT.. The flexi rod has about 4 if i'm not mistaken..Plus it is flexible as well.. Costs about 25.00

      Its on a review of mine already..
