Use

Although it was designed to massage sore muscles, it can be used to vibrate anything you please. You can touch the head to a inserted plug to add strong vibrations that will shake your insides. Or just touch sensitive areas of your partners body, or even your own.
This is a toy that is best used in or own home, because it is very loud. But more on that below. It is powered with a cord plugged into a standard 110 volt outlet. The cord is 6 feet long, which is standard. Most beds are not right next to an outlet, making this a difficult toy to just lay down and enjoy. You have to plan your evening out before you start, if including this guy.

Material / Texture

The handle base is made from a hard smooth plastic. I have not had any luck finding out what type of plastic it is. But it should not matter too much, seeing how this part of the toy only comes in contact with your hand. The head is a softer plastic. Also could not find out what kind of plastic. (If you know for sure, please let me know) The head is not designed to be inserted, but it will come in contact with your skin. So if you are worried about the material, you could put a condom over the head.

The head has a slight texture to it. Not enough to add to the experience. I am not sure why they added it, I would guess to add some friction to the head. Mine does have one little spot where they tried to hide to seem between the two half's of the head, where the texture is slightly different then the rest. It has a rougher spot to it. It does not bother your skin. But if this was a insertable toy it would be a different story.

Design / Shape / Size

The design is simple. It is a basic wand shape. Straight and simple. The head is the only part that has any flex to it, and it is not much flex at all.

The wand is heavy. Heavy enough to wear you out when holding it at difficult angles. I found my self switching hands a few times. And I do construction for a living, so I am used to heavy tools. This only weighs in at about 6 ounces (had a hard time with my small scale getting a good reading). We have heavier toys, and they have never bothered me like this one. I think it is the weight distribution.

The wand is just over 12 inches long. The head is about 2 1/2 inches wide by about 2 inches long. This toy is not really discreet. While it is not a sex toy by design, I believe enough people know that they are used as a sex toy to make it non discreet. I guess it depends on how well you can sell it as a sore muscle massager.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This has just 2 setting. High, and higher. My wife thinks that both settings are too much for her. I wish you had more control over the vibrations. A dial would have been nice. But oh well.

The motor is noisy. This has to be one of the noisiest toys we have. We had to keep the bedroom door closed so it could not be heard in my kids rooms. The handle gets very warm after 5 minutes of so of use. It is not so warm that it will burn you.

This guy is not water proof. Do not use it around water. Remember it is pluged in to a outlet. If you have a GFCI outlet, I would use it with your toy.

Care and Maintenance

This is one of those toys that is difficult to take care of if your going to share with others. You cant really give him a good cleaning. You can wipe him down with a toy cleaner or a wet cloth. But you really cant wash him under water with soap. If you are going to share him with others, I would suggest putting a condom over the head with every use. Then you wont have to worry about not being able to clean him as well as you would like to.

You can store him in the original box he came in. But we just keep him on one of the closet shelves. My kids cant reach that high, and even if they could they do not know anything about sex. So we do not have to worry about them putting the two together. And no one else gets into our closet.

Packaging

The packaging was a simple cardboard box. My wife tossed the box right after we received the toy. But from what I could remember, it had some pictures of people using the wand on their backs and shoulders. The packaging looked like it was from the early 80's. You could tell from the hairstyles. They should update their photos.

Experience

we have not found a way for her to fully enjoy this one. I know that we will find a good use for it. It has the quality that we enjoy in our toys. It is just way to powerful for her.
Follow-up commentary
I still feel this is a great high quality vibrator, just not made for my wife's clit. I have not found any methods to make this enjoyable for her. The vibrations are always too strong. (I feel they are just about right on low speed, if used for a few minutes at a time)

As a massager this works wonders. I see my self using it for many years to come. It has held up very well over the past 5 months or so. I see it lasting for 5 plus years.

I still have not purchased a attachment for this yet. I was hoping to find a method of enjoyment for the wife, and then add on to that with attachments. Maybe someday I will purchase a attachment. In the meantime I have not given up. I will keep experimenting in the name of science.

Perhaps one of the Fairy Wands would be better for your wife. They have a dial control, so she would have better control of the vibrations.

It's a shame this is too powerful for your wife... but I think I would be the same way, so it's good to read a review that says I'm not alone.

If you want to try to dampen the vibrations a bit, you could fold up a washcloth and put it between her skin and the Wand, or use it with her panties still on.

The Hitachi is definitely not much of a sex toy. That's totally apparent. It's too strong. Have you tried any of the fairies or the Mystic Wand Rechargeable? I'm trying the AcuVibe soon. I've used it as a back massager because my old roommate owned it, but now I'm going to be brave and try it on the pussy! Hope you find something better.

I have also heard of using tenga eggs as covers for these wands to make them less intimidating.

  • Good alternative to Hitachi?

    • I have 3 wand massagers that I use at times. There are things I love and hate about all of them. The hitachi is the most powerful one, but it is so loud! The Wahl 2 speed is also great. It is the quietest and I love how rumbly the vibes are! But none of the attachments are quite right for me. If I could only have one wand I would get Inspire. It has a button that you press and release when the power is at your desired strength. In stead of just 2 speeds like the hitachi or the wahl you have control over how much power you want to use. The Inspire has a detachable silicone head. My complaints are that it gets hot after about 20 minutes, at at the higher speeds it gets pretty loud. Your toy was rechargable, but the wands I listed all plug in and have more power. Good luck with your replacement!

      Ooh, thanks! Yeah, the rechargeable wands tend to get really hot too, plus it would die after 20-30 minutes, so I needed to stay near an outlet at all times. Noise isn't really an issue for me (at least not right now). The one I had before had an adjustable wheel for vibration intensity, but to be honest, I always turned it all the way up and never changed it, so maybe I don't really need adjustable speeds.

      I've never tried any of the detachable heads. Are they worth buying?

      Probably not for less than fifty dollars. A friend of mine is saving for the Sybian or The Rock Box. I can't speak from experience about either of those vibrators though. However, if you want something similar to the Hitachi, I would suggest either The Wahl or a Fairy Wand. I own the Hitachi, Wahl, and Fairy Mini but highly suggest the Wahl. It is the most rumbly of the three and is nearly silent.

      U had the flexi anal rod prior to the Hitachi..It is strong as well, and it probably right between the hitachi hi and low... I actually prefer the two setting on Hitach..SHIT and OHH SHIT.. The flexi rod has about 4 if i'm not mistaken..Plus it is flexible as well.. Costs about 25.00

      Its on a review of mine already..
