Use

The name pomegranate derives from medieval Latin pomum "apple" and granatum "seeded". Ancient Egyptians regarded the pomegranate as a symbol of prosperity and ambition.

One of the many products from System JO's very addictive Dona line, this bath foam is available in 6 different scents that are named based on the aphrodisiacs that they are infused with: Goji Berry, Mangosteen, Blue Lotus, Pomegranate, Camu Camu and Acai. This review is for the pomegranate bath foam. This bath foam can be used by both men and women with so many scents available. Anyone who enjoys unwinding and relaxing in a nice hot bath would welcome this addition to their bathroom. Whether you're pampering yourself or just wanting to loosen up those achy muscles in a hot bath after a long day, JO Dona bath foam brings you that relaxing escape. Not a bath person or don't have access to a bath tub? I've used this on a bath puff in the shower, it lathers up nicely and smells wonderful. System JO's Dona line also includes body wash available in the same scents as this bath foam. Use this for a solo bath or a romantic bubble bath for two. When I use this I remove the cap and fill it twice which gives me plenty of bubbles to relax in. If you do choose to remove the cap, be careful when you pour the bath foam into the cap because it is thick, I give the bottle a bit of a squeeze and it is easy to have too much spill out. For first time use I'd recommend squeezing the bottle lightly under the running water so that you don't release too much!

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

System JO Dona bath foam is clear and thick. It's not as thick as a gel but it also isn't watery and runny like a liquid. It has a similar consistency to body wash or hair conditioner and as I mentioned previously, it dispenses slower because of how thick it is. There is no added texture to this bath foam, it's smooth and slick and lathers up fast and nicely. When it's poured onto the skin it doesn't stay in place but it doesn't run all over the place either, it slowly drips down your skin because of it's thickness. It doesn't feel greasy, slimy or unpleasant at all, instead it's thick and slick when applied directly to the skin and lathers up nicely!

Taste / Aroma

This bath foam is not edible, it is not safe to consume so no matter how good it smells, please don't ingest this! When my box of JO Dona products arrived, I toted it around and made my family and coworkers smell them. Pomegranate is the one that everyone loved across the board. From reading other reviews I have noticed that each "scent" can smell different depending on who is smelling it, pomegranate seemed to be the exception to this although I did encounter it with other Dona products but more on that in other reviews. Pomegranate is nice, light, slightly fruity and sweet smelling. I can almost detect what smells faintly like most cucumber melon scents. Others who smelled it agreed that it's lighter and sweet smelling but they thought it smelled lightly of berries. We did all agree that it isn't overpowering as a scent but instead it is fresh, clean and sweet smelling. I say that it smelled clean because I could almost detect a fresh melon scent, there wasn't any hint of a citrus scent it was very clearly sweet , light and fruity. There also was no soapy or powdery scent that I have found with some bath products that are a certain scent but then you can still detect a soapy undertone. This was one of the lighter smells that I have experienced from the Dona line. So far the bath salts have smelled the strongest, the body polish comes in second place with the bath foam coming in third and the bath milk coming in fourth. Depending on your personal preference for scents or how you feel about the way that this smells to you, pomegranate could be unisex. If pomegranate doesn't do it for you, no worries...there are 5 others to choose from!

Performance

With only 2 cap fulls of this bath foam I was pleasantly surprised that it was enough to give me a full bath tub of bubbles to relax in! The bubbles foamed up quickly and lasted much longer than I expected them to. 2 caps of bath foam lasted me 30 minutes so a little goes a long way with this one. The bubbles seem to be thicker than other bath foams that I have used. The longer you soak, the more the bubbles seem to dissolve. Not only did I love how long these bubbles seemed to last for the little amount that I used but when I was done relaxing in the bath and the bubbles had almost all dissolved, I didn't even need to rinse my bathtub. I've used bath foams before that leave me covered in bubbles and the bathtub is full of them even after the water has drained. System JO's Dona bath foam doesn't do that and the one time that I found that it did was because I only spent around 15 minutes in the bath so quite a bit of foam was still left. A simple rinse out of the bath tub emptied out all the left over bubbles and did not leave my bath tub feeling slippery or with any visible residue. If you do decide to use this as a shower gel in the shower, be careful not to spill product on the shower floor or into the bath tub because it will be slippery. It didn't leave my skin feeling all that moisturized but at the same time, it didn't seem to dry it out either. I've found that all of the scents that I have tried from this line so far do an amazing job at filling the room which can feel overpowering if you have a small bathroom like I do. The scent it leaves on your skin is much much lighter and pleasant!

Packaging

I find all of the packaging in the System JO Dona line to be simple and classy. The bath foam bottle comes in a removable plastic bag to prevent any leaking problems while it's being shipped. The bottle itself comes sealed with a foil seal that gets peeled off. The cap twists off to reveal the opening of the bottle. The bath foam is only available in one size and that is a hard plastic 9.5 oz bottle. The bottle appears to be slightly tinted because although the product is clear, it looks light yellow when you're looking at it through the bottle. The sticker label features a very pretty lace design with the Dona by JO logo on the front and everything you need to know about the product on the back! The packaging is extremely informative, discreet and would make a wonderful gift. After I have tried all of the Dona line I plan on purchasing some for gifts! If you do plan on traveling with this, I recommend storing it in a zippered plastic bag because if the cap did get bumped enough and if it did leak, being so thick it would create quite a mess.
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Very informative packaging
    • Would make a nice gift

So what exactly does all of this mean? What does it all do? How do you even pronounce that? Below I have included a summary for each ingredient and it's purpose that I have obtained by searching Google, the descriptions of these ingredients are my own and have not been verified by System JO or Eden Fantasys. Here we go:
Sodium C 14-16 Olefin Sulfonate: A cleansing and foaming agent naturally derived from coconut oil with a long history of safe use in a variety of cosmetic products because it is gentle and effective.
Sodium Cocoamphoacetate: A coconut oil-derived foaming, cleansing and conditioning agent used in a variety of cosmetics and personal care products, particularly in face cleansers, scrubs and shaving creams, due to its gentleness and ability to make the product glide smoothly on skin.
Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine: Found in many soaps, shampoos and lotions this is used a cheap and very effective foaming agent.
Cocamidopropyl Betaine: A synthetic surfactant derived from coconut oil with antibacterial properties. Pale yellow in color it's used in bath products and cosmetics as an emulsifying agent and thickener and as an antistatic agent in hair conditioner.
Glycerin: Found in many products, used in cosmetic and personal products mainly to provide smoothness.
Sodium Chloride: Sodium Chloride, or table salt, is a white crystalline solid. It's used in the formulation of cosmetics and personal care products as an oral care agent, flavoring agent, and a viscosity increasing agent.
Lycium Barbarum (Goji) berry: Nicknamed "the happy berry" because it is said to induce the sense of well being. The Goji berry is also high in antioxidants and known for having powerful anti aging properties.
Coffea Arabica (Coffee) Seed: The caffeine that is present in the coffee seed serves many purposes for our skin. It's benefits ranges from redistributing the fat content in our skin and serving as an effective cellulite remedy to acting as a good astringent to clear up skin.
Euterpe Oleracea (Açaí) Fruit: Açaí is a super fruit. This berry is known for being very rich in antioxidants, it boosts energy levels and can make skin appear clearer and brighter.
Morinda Citrifolia (Noni) Fruit: This fruit is known for it's skin healing properties including anti-inflammation, acne reduction and moisture retention.
Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Fruit: Punica Granatum possesses astringent qualities which have proved effective in toning skin.
Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf: High in antioxidants with anti-inflammatory properties, green tea has long been thought to slow down some signs of aging.
Garcinia Mangostana (Mangosteen) Pericarp Extracts: Mangosteen is thought to have anti-inflammatory properties.
Propanediol: A viscosity decreasing agent, irritation will occur if this comes into contact with your eyes.
Xanthan Gum: Used in personal care products and food, this is a gel forming agent with skin conditioning effects.
Citric Acid: Used in personal care products to adjust the acidity or promote skin peeling and re-growth in the case of anti-aging products.
Guar Gum: Used to control viscosity, more specifically it is used to increase viscosity.
Benzyl Alcohol: Used as a preservative.
Methylchloroisothiazolinone: Is used as a preservative.
Methylisothiazone: Used as a preservative with antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Experience

I was so excited when I saw that the System JO Dona line had arrived here on Eden Fantasys. I'm determined to try every product from the line and give each one of the "scents" a try as well. This bath foam produced a generous amount of bubbles from using a small amount of product. The product lasted long but didn't leave my bath tub full of foam which was another major plus for me. It didn't seem to moisturize my skin but it also didn't dry it out. The scent was light and sweet, pleasant and not overpowering. The scent filled my bathroom nicely and lightly lingered on my skin afterwards. I'm planning on ordering one of every product in this line in each scent and reviewing them all! I'm placing my next order today and I will be well on my way to completing my Dona collection. I have already tried the Body Polish in Mangosteen, the Bath Salts in Goji Berry & the Bath Milk in Camu Camu. I will be posting reviews for those soon but the main reason I mentioned it is because out of those, the pomegranate has been one of the lighter scents. If you don't like strong scents, I would suggest trying pomegranate. If you try the bath foam and love the scent that you've used I'm sure you could make that scent last even longer by following up with one of JO Dona's body lotions or body butters which is something I will be putting to the test with my next order.
Follow-up commentary
I'm writing my follow up review so soon because I know that 2 months from now, I'll still love this product! I'm a bath and body product junkie and I am well on my way to trying everything in the Dona line and nothing has been a miss for me. This product made me fall in love with the Pomegranate scent and I have since purchased other Dona Pomegranate products. This is a great bubble bath that I would recommend to everyone and one that I plan on gifting in the future!

I was wondering the brand names of the other bubble baths you've used, you know the ones that stay there FOREVER? I love those kind but can't find any.
Also, about how thick were the bubbles from the two capfuls? Were there gaps in the water?
Rating on thickness, by inches please.
