Plenty of Buzz for Your Buck!

I personally love this toy. It's the go-to workhorse of my collection and is especially useful when I just need to get off quickly to blow off steam. It doesn't lend itself to slow buildups, but it does produce huge finales when used after a weaker warm-up toy. All in all, if you're not overly sensitive or brand-new to clitoral vibrators, I think this is a must-have for any well-stocked toy box.

Lack of variety, noisy

Use

The Hitachi Magic Wand is a powerful and impressive vibrator. The packaging implies that the device can be used for muscle massage over most of the body, which it most certainly is capable of, but I tend to use it in a more sexual manner (as I imagine most customers do). The Magic Wand provides strong, constant vibrations over a fairly large area, allowing for the stimulation of both the clitoris and the labia simultaneously, though if I hold myself open, it's not hard to concentrate the vibrations to just my clitoris.

The toy has two settings, low and high, and both are a constant vibration. The Magic Wand is the strongest toy that I've used to date, and when I first received it, I had to learn how to best use it. I found out that it was better to "warm up" either manually or with a weaker vibe and then to progress to the wand; otherwise, I found the strong vibrations a little overwhelming. I enjoy moderate to high vibrations, so I wouldn't recommend this toy to extremely sensitive users as it may be uncomfortable or downright painful. However, if you like strong stimulation, this toy is a godsend. It's still the only toy to get me from zero to blastoff in less than five minutes!

Material / Texture

The body of the Hitachi Magic Wand is smooth, hard plastic while the head is a firm, hollow plastic ball with a lightly textured surface. The texture doesn't add to the stimulation; however, I find it makes it easier to hold against a specific area without it slipping around like crazy as a perfectly smooth material would. When I received the toy, there was no noticeable odor or taste to the plastic. It is easy to clean with a washcloth and a little toy cleanser.
    • No odor

Design / Shape / Size

I like the broad vibration surface of the toy, allowing me to choose whether I want to stimulate my entire vulva or if I would rather pinpoint the vibrations onto my clitoris. The large round head also makes it easy to use for muscle massage, and it may allow you to convince other people that it really is a muscle massage device (although I think most people would figure out your clever ruse). The entire toy is a little large, measuring in at twelve inches in length, and it requires an outlet to be plugged into, so this is definitely not an "on-the-go" type of toy. Based on the size and power requirements of the Magic Wand, I find it best suited for private bedroom play. Couple play is possible: I've found that doggy style and reverse cowgirl are the easiest to accomplish since the body of the toy is a little bulky to fit in between me and my guy during sex.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The controls are easy to use. It's a simple toggle switch: press the bottom half for low, back to the middle to turn it off, and upwards to turn it on high. The toy is a little limited by only having two settings. If you need patterns/multiple speeds, then this may not be the right vibe for you. There is no easing from low to high either; the toy must be turned off while clicking over from low to high, so there is an interruption in vibration. The Hitachi Magic Wand is also a bit on the noisy side. You could probably hear it through a closed door/thin wall but not down a hallway. One upside is that you never ever need to buy batteries since it uses a plug-in cord (with six feet of cord!).
    • Easy to use
    • Not very discreet
    • Powerful

Care and Maintenance

The Hitachi Magic Wand is very low maintenance. I simply wipe it down with toy cleanser, allow it to dry (just a few minutes), and then wrap the cord loosely around the body of the toy before storing it in my bedside table drawer. The toy is compatible with both water and silicone-based lubricants, although I don't use lube with this product.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store
Follow-up commentary
Still wonderful! I've had it over a year now and it still gets the job done every time, and by far the most used toy in my collection.

  • Good alternative to Hitachi?
    • I had a rechargeable mini fairy wand, but last week it ended up breaking, and now I'm desperately looking for a similar type wand massager. I've looked at a couple, but I'd really like some input on which massager people are recommending. Thanks!
    • I have 3 wand massagers that I use at times. There are things I love and hate about all of them. The hitachi is the most powerful one, but it is so loud! The Wahl 2 speed is also great. It is the quietest and I love how rumbly the vibes are! But none of the attachments are quite right for me. If I could only have one wand I would get Inspire. It has a button that you press and release when the power is at your desired strength. In stead of just 2 speeds like the hitachi or the wahl you have control over how much power you want to use. The Inspire has a detachable silicone head. My complaints are that it gets hot after about 20 minutes, at at the higher speeds it gets pretty loud. Your toy was rechargable, but the wands I listed all plug in and have more power. Good luck with your replacement!

Ooh, thanks! Yeah, the rechargeable wands tend to get really hot too, plus it would die after 20-30 minutes, so I needed to stay near an outlet at all times. Noise isn't really an issue for me (at least not right now). The one I had before had an adjustable wheel for vibration intensity, but to be honest, I always turned it all the way up and never changed it, so maybe I don't really need adjustable speeds.

I've never tried any of the detachable heads. Are they worth buying?

  • Will it be out of stock until the sale is over?
    • Ekk! It is out of stock again! I keep missing it. I finally have enough to buy it but I guess the discount made it sell like crazy. Does it typically not come back in until the sale is over?

Panicing a bit because I'm moving soon and will need to purchase it within the next week.
    • You can open a support ticket from your account dashboard to ask about it. If they know when it'll be coming in they'll be happy to tell you.
    • Perfect! Thank you!

  • Strength
    • Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
    • Quote: Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
Probably not for less than fifty dollars. A friend of mine is saving for the Sybian or The Rock Box. I can't speak from experience about either of those vibrators though. However, if you want something similar to the Hitachi, I would suggest either The Wahl or a Fairy Wand. I own the Hitachi, Wahl, and Fairy Mini but highly suggest the Wahl. It is the most rumbly of the three and is nearly silent.

I think the Hitachi is the strongest vibe i know of.

  • Hitachi Wand Vs. Acyvube
    • Is the hitachi better than the acuvibe for anyone who has had the chance to try both? I'm under the impression that they are essentially the same thing but maybe I'm wrong...
    • I have had both, and they are really both very good toys. The main difference really is that the Acuvibe is rechargeable and can be used cordless, while the Hitachi must plug in to work. Personally, I think that the Hitachi is slightly stronger, and it has definitely outlasted my Acuvibes - I have had two, and they both broke down after about six months or so.

We are going on 3+ years on the acuvibe. The shell is starting to crack but it still functions great, I just wanted to know if we should switch when I do want to buy a new one. More powerful sounds good :)

  • The Size !!!!!!!
    • Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
    • In the way of what, exactly? It's not really a toy for couples play and actually it's not even designed for masturbation but has become the Holy Grail of vibrators through decades of word of mouth.
    • Quote: Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
It's really only meant for external use. So if you are talking about insertion it probably would be a bit big.

  • Universal
    • Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
    • There are a few. If you search the site you can find a couple.
    • Quote: Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
I don't know if I understand the question, but the attachment we bought for our Hitachi is a "universal" attachment that we bought from another store. It's too "floppy" for me, but is a nice g-spot attachment, or would be if it was a little stiffer!

  • Bullet Vibes that rival the Hitachi Magic Wand
    • Hello, everyone!

Recently I've sold my Hitachi to a friend, and I've been on the market for a new clit vibe. I'm one of those girls who has a "clit-o-steel&quo t;, so I can't really get off unless I have something powerful on my clit. I bought a LAYAspot by FunFactory, thinking it would be a nice, powerful bullet to use when I'm with my partner, and I realized that it barely even packs a punch!

I guess I'm being a bit picky. I don't want something that's as strong as the Hitachi's HIGH setting, but something kind of inbetween the two, one that has a few nice, strong modes.

I was looking at the more expensive clit vibes- JeJoue's MiMi and Lelo's Siri. Do you think that they would be strong enough? Do you recommend anything? Thanks guys!

U had the flexi anal rod prior to the Hitachi..It is strong as well, and it probably right between the hitachi hi and low... I actually prefer the two setting on Hitach..SHIT and OHH SHIT.. The flexi rod has about 4 if i'm not mistaken..Plus it is flexible as well.. Costs about 25.00

Its on a review of mine already..

  • Hitachi
    • This is by far the best purchase I've made. My wife has a tough time reaching orgasm and needs the intense vibrations for her to climax. The Hitachi far exceeds this task, she doesn't use any other toy now, always reaches for the Hitachi. Just need to get her the G-spot attachment and she is set up. Thanks again.
    • I completely agree. The Magic Wand is the best vibrator ever.

  • Have you ever used a wand?
    • HI I was wondering if you have ever used anything like the Fairy Wand? I have used the baby fairy wand but its tiny... the size of the larger ones kind of intimidate me ... what are your thoughts on them and should I get one?
    • I dislike most of them intensely. They're too strong, too big and they make my whole vulva - as well as my hands - feel numb.

      Many folks love them, though!
    • I used the Wanachi Mini, which I really liked. Unfortunately it fell apart, it seems mine wasn't the only one either. I did contact Pipedream though and they seem eager to correct this problem!
