Use

Bath salts by Dona are just that, bath salts. The actual bath kind, not the turn-you-into-face-eating-zombie kind. Just wanted to clarify that... You just put a handful of these nice crystals into warm running bath water and let them dissolve, and they soften the water and fill your tub with their pleasant scent. I got them in the Camu Camu scent, and I will elaborate more on their particular scent later. I would highly recommend these for anyone who enjoys a nice relaxing bath from time to time.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

In the jar, these bath salts are fairly large and a little moist. Some of them were a little stick together, but the clumps can be easily broken up with your hand. I believe this is due to the fragrance oils and some of the other oils Dona uses to add some moisturizing properties to the salts. It is very easy to scoop a handful out or to pour them into the cap of the jar to pour them into the bath water.

Once dissolved, they see to make the water feel a little slicker. I don't notice a residue on my skin after I get out of the bath, though, so it could be my imagination. The water just feels slightly different, softer almost.

Taste / Aroma

I really like the Camu Camu scent. Once dissolved, it has a very "green" scent, kind of leafy with vanilla-ish undertones. In the jar, however, it has a very different, very distinct scent. It smells exactly like play-doh. I opened the jar and nostalgia hit me like a brick. I ran my bath, enjoyed it, and then after I got out I ran naked into the living room and had my boyfriend smell me before I put any lotion or anything on, just to make sure I didn't still smell like play-doh. I didn't. I was wondering if maybe I just got used to the scent, but it really does change a lot once it dissolves. I then brought him the jar to see if I was imagining the play-doh scent, and he smelled it too. A few of my very amused friends also confirmed the smell. But do not fear, once it is in the bath itself it smells very nice!

Performance

I have used various bath salts since I was a kid, ranging from nice brands down to home-scented Epsom salts, and lots of kinds in between, and these are some of the best I've found. I will definitely be keeping these around! They make the water feel very nice, they smell great, and while the scent lingers a little on my skin after a bath, I can't feel any residue that needs to be rinsed off. My skin feels nice and soft when I get out of the bath, although not necessarily softer than it does after a bath with other comparable products. Softer than after a bath with plain water or bubble bath, though. I can't speak much as to how much of the scent will fill the average bathroom, because my bathtub is in the middle of my whole bedroom. However, after I get out and come back into the bedroom, I can smell it faintly. So I would imagine it will scent a smaller bathroom nicely. The scent itself is very mild, so I don't imagine it would overpower a small space.

I also have not noticed any residue in my tub.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural

Packaging

Dona's bath salts come packaged in a nice jar with a screw on lid that closes tightly to prevent moisture from getting into the jar. I wouldn't worry about throwing it into a travel bag as long as the lid is closed well, it shouldn't spill. The labeling is very pretty, black with some vine-like patterning on it. There is a quality seal on the jar lid to show it hasn't been opened, which also bears the name of the scent. It looks very nice sitting on a vanity or by the tub, and isn't the kind of package you would rather hide away under a sink. It does say "aphrodisiac" on the jar, but it is in very small print. Nothing I would worry about being seen in mixed company.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Travel friendly
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

I have really enjoyed these bath salts. I have had them for about two months and they are almost gone! However, I take two baths a week on average, and I am fairly liberal with the salts when I use them. I think it is fair to say you can expect to get at least ten baths out of one jar If you use a handful or so for each bath.
