Smells great, doesn't perform as expected. (green tea)

I have read review after review stating this was a great product, so I finally decided to get it for myself. Although I found the product not to be exactly what I was expecting from a shaving gel, I love the clean smell the green tea formula offers. It's so much better than smelling the chemically smell of your normal shaving gel.

Use

It is designed as a shaving gel for your most intimate areas, but can also be used as a whole body shave as well as a hair conditioner. According to the directions on the bottle for a hair conditioner apply Coochy and massage well into hair. Allow to remain on hair for 1 to 2 minutes for normal hair and up to 5 minutes for coarse hair and then rinse thoroughly.

It was formulated to protect all skin types and to provide a smooth, moisturizing shave.

Ingredients: as you will note toward the bottom of the list, this product contains parabens so if you are sensitive to parabens I would suggest skipping this product.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

It has a white thicker consistency than your average shaving gel. It is vary similar in consistency to hair conditioner. In fact, coochy states you can use this as a hair conditioner. I wouldn't personally do this because I'm cheap and that just seems to be a waste when I can get a much larger bottle of conditioner for cheaper.

It comes in a 4oz white plastic bottle with a push cap that you press to open. It is easy to pour, just gently squeeze the bottle and the product comes out. The harder you squeeze the more that comes out. It applies to your skin easily and stays there instead of slipping off like some other shaving creams and gels can do before you get a chance to shave.

It rinses off the skin easily, and leaves your skin feeling very soft. It does not leave you feeling sticky or greasy at all.

Taste / Aroma

The coochy Shave Cream comes in the following scents: oh so original, original, citrus, make me blush, naked silk green tea, green tea, unscented, playful plumeria, and slick chic pear berry. I have the green tea and my review is based on the green tea scent. I drink green tea on a daily basis and know when it is brewing it has a nice, mild, clean smell to it. It's not fruity, citrusy, or floral. It's just a nice aromatic smell that I really like. I really like that this shave cream has the same scent as if I were brewing a cup of tea because it isn't overwhelming or overpowering to the senses. When I use it, the smell is very clean and fades pretty fast. You wouldn't be able to smell it if you walked in the bathroom right after I finished shaving with it.

Performance

Unlike many other reviewers, I don't think Coochy is the shaving cream for me as far as performance goes. Even with a new razor, it didn't cut as close a shave as I had wished. I received better results for a closer shave with my regular shave gel than I do when I use Coochy. However, I did like that it left my skin feeling soft, conditioned, and moisturized after each use. I did not have any red shaving bumps after using Coochy so that is one positive aspect about the product. I just wish that it had the capability of giving me a closer shave.

You only need a small quarter sized amount to fully cover your pubic area. Of course, results may vary depending on the type of razor you are using and how much hair you are shaving. I shave my pubic area once a week so I tend to have a little stubble, but not any significant growth.

It lasts for as long as you are shaving and clean-up is minimal because it disappears with use. Here's a picture of it on my leg.

Packaging

This was just wrapped in a plastic bag and ties to the side to prevent it from leaking during shipping.

Experience

Although this isn't my favorite shaving product, I really do love the green tea scent and I love that it leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturized. I'm going to give it three stars because it contains parabens so not everyone would be able to use it and it didn't cut as close and I had wished. It's stilll a nice product, just not the product for me.
Follow-up commentary
I used the entire bottle because I am one who doesn't like to waste. My results are still the same, it doesn't give me as close a shave as I prefer. When I shave, I want my skin to feel baby smooth and soft and this just doesn't cut it. I do love the clean green tea scent, but that's all that I enjoyed about it.
