Magic Wand Original - massager by Vibratex - review by jessi2

Before I owned the Magic Wand, I had wished and wished for one. I had heard all of the hype from friends who gave glowing reviews. One couple bragged that they had "hers and hers" matching wands! A day came when my loving wife to be decided to surprise me with my very own Hitachi Magic Wand! This was little over a year ago, and I still adore my Hitachi!


I absolutely love the fact that it plugs in. Some people find this annoying, but I find that having to change batteries so often is so much more annoying. I have extension cords available if distance is an issue. (It never is, though.) Because it is electrically powered, the vibrations never become less intense. With my Doc Johnson vibe (which I still use and love), after several uses, the batteries start to fade. If I do not refill my battery supply, I lose power. I have noticed lately that I am sort of a power queen. I like it rough and intense, and with the Hitachi Magic Wand, I get just that!

The vibrating bulb is rounded and is about two inches long. There is a gap between the handle and the bulb. It is blue and about 1 inch wide. The blue "stem" is what allows the bulb to bend or flex.

I love using the wand for clitoral stimulation before, during, and after sex. The vibrations are very intense, and I do not recommend this for a new-"cumer" to vibes. I have been using vibes for several years, and it still took me a good bit of time to get used to such intense vibrations on the low setting.

It also feels amazing on both settings for massages. We have used it on our backs, feet, and tired legs.

The bulb is not completely smooth. It has very subtle crevices. This means that I spend a little longer making sure that it is clean and sanitized between uses (whether for body or clitoral massages).

The product description says that it is made with food-grade materials, and that it is also plastic. It has a fairly high Eden materials safety rating of 8, and is hypo-allergenic.

The texture on the bulb is so subtle that I cannot feel the crevices with anything but my fingertips. I like the softness of the bulb. It is not hard or painful when pressed against my bits.

The entire wand (before the cord) is 12 inches from the top of the squishy bulb to the other end where the cord comes out. The cord (it needs to be plugged in to operate) is 6 feet long, and is polarized (the blades are different sizes), so it cannot be used in international outlets. The cord is long enough for me to use anywhere in my house without any issues.

I had a little trouble adjusting to the length of the handle at first. I was used to a much smaller vibrator, and needed to change the way I was accustomed to lying and holding a vibrator so that it was more comfortable to use.

The wand comes with two power settings with one button that flips between low, off, and high. The low setting was the first that I tried, and I came before I even got the chance to try the high setting. I use this setting more frequently than the high setting, but only because I like to make the pleasure last longer. The high setting is for more terse sessions and works wonders on stiff backs.

I love the powerful vibrations offered from both settings. The vibrations emit only from the bulb. I love this because my hand will not go numb or feel weird after using this toy. This also allows the maximum amount of vibrations to be directed at your area of choice!

This toy does make some noise; it is louder than all of my other vibrators. It can be heard through a thin door. The noise does not wake up my partner if I use it after she is asleep. The moans while I am pleasuring myself will, though!

To clean the bulb, I use toy wipes most times. Sometimes I will give it a good scrub with a hot washcloth and antibacterial soap. I never clean it while it is plugged in, and I never use running water or submerge it in water. I rinse the cloth and wipe it down several times to remove the soap, in the way of a sponge bath. I do not dip it into water. I would HATE to find out what happens to this miracle toy if it gets water in the mechanical parts.

I store my wand in the drawer designated for all of my toys. I did not keep the original cardboard box that it came in, but I do make sure to wrap it in an old t-shirt, just for good measure.

I do not intentionally put lube on the bulb, but when it gets on there, I make sure that I remove it before putting it away. I am a bit of a germaphobe, and I do not like it when lube or other fluids remain on toys after use. I like to clean them all and store them before going to bed or doing something else.

The lube that we always use is Astroglide since it is water-based and does not give either of us an adverse reaction. I would suggest using water-based or silicone-based lubes. Just be sure to clean the Hitachi regularly since it is made of a porous material.

I bought my Hitachi a while ago. I did not keep the packaging for storage. It came in a white cardboard box with pictures of people using it for a back massage.

My fiance did not enjoy using our Hitachi when we first got it. After using it a few times, she has grown accustomed to the intense vibrations. Now she loves it as much as I do!
