A "Loaded" Bottle of Lube

Colt Slick lubricant is a "best buy" in terms of value and performance! It's safe for use on any material and works well both vaginally, anally, or for hand jobs. This is one of my new favorite lubricants. Next time though, I'm upgrading to the largest size so I'll never run out. It's that good!

Use

Colt Slick by California Exotic Novelties is it! I've finally found a replacement for my previously all-time favorite water-based lubricant, one that is just as slippery, slick, long-lasting, and makes anal play feel like a walk in the park! Truly, the test of a good lubricant is how versatile it is. Some are better for vaginal play, but perform weak anally. Colt filled in the gaps and performed equally well in both areas, so owning a bottle of this one a real treat on the wallet!

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

I decided to put Colt to the test by comparing it to two of my other favorite lubes that I use on a regular basis: Astroglide (Biofilm, Inc.) and Slick Stik (California Sensations). Like the other two, Colt is water-based, which makes it compatible with any type material of toy, and it's also very easy to clean up after, leaving no residue behind.

Colt's appearance is crystal clear, slippery, and smooth. During a drip test, it slid off my hand at the same rate as Astroglide, so it is a bit on the runnier side and will drip all over the place if application is not targeted. I already knew that the Slick Stik was thicker than both, so I dropped that one out of the comparison.

Colt performed better than Astroglide when I rubbed both between my fingers. It took longer for the Colt to dry up which means it won't have to be re-applied constantly and will stay slicker longer. It didn't become sticky or gummy either.

Ingredient-wise, Colt contains: Deionized Water, Glycerin (can be a problem for some with sensitivities), PEG-8 (Polyethylene Glycol, a thickening agent), Aloe Vera Extract, Carbomer 940 (thickener and helps to make it sparkling clear), Carboxymethyl Cellulose (lubricant property, non-toxic, non-allergenic), Tetrasodium EDTA (for water-solubility), Methylparaben (preservative), and DMDM Hydantoin (antimicrobial formaldehyde releaser preservative).

So what does all this mean? For the majority of individuals, COLT is a safe option, although some with KNOWN allergies or sensitivities may want to avoid this one and go more "organic". I found it to be much less irritating than KY ever was!

Taste / Aroma

There was a slight bitter-sweet taste to Colt, but its not unpleasant; however seriously, who plans on drinking this stuff? If you get some on your taste-buds during oral sex, it won't hurt you, but remember, it's not intended to be palatable like a flavored lube. It tasted about the same as Astroglide.

Scent-wise, I didn't notice anything.

Performance

Colt performed equally as well as Astroglide, if not better, because it kicked ass (no pun intended) as an anal lubricant also. Fewer repeat applications, so without a doubt, the bottle will last me a long time. It's really going to depend on the frequency of use, which obviously varies by user. But I think you get your money's worth on this one.

Because it is water-soluble, it cleaned up very easily, off my body and off my toys. Even my spray-on toy cleaner took it off.
    • Feels natural

Packaging

I purchased the medium size, 13-ounce bottle, which is actually 12.85 ounces. It's a short, stout, cylindrical bottle with a large black flip-up lid, which when closed, is flush on top. It's very easy to control the flow rate, either just a few drops at a time, or a large stream, depending on how hard you squeeze.

There are two other sizes available, a smaller 9-ounce size, suitable for travel, or a larger 16.5-ounce refill size. I think I paid about $7.99 for 5 ounces for my last bottle of Astroglide, so it's comparable price-wise and certainly reasonable.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Does not leak
    • Recyclable

Personal comments

I'm giving COLT 5 stars from my own personal experience with it. I'm actually pretty sensitive to many lubes, and if they give me a yeast infection, they wind up in the trash. I haven't had one since using the COLT, so I found it to be very safe for use.
Follow-up commentary
Love my Colt lube! I'm almost done with the first bottle, and it's a big one, so the reminder to write this follow-up came at a good time. I've experienced no irritations from prolonged use like I have with KY and it stays slippery for a while too.

  • Taste?
    • I was wondering what this tastes like?
    • I've said this before (maybe even to you directly) but whenever you have questions about a product, read the reviews.

Considering you related this TO a review and not the product itself, I'd say you already read a review or at least have access to one. Asking questions that can be easily answered by reviews spams up the forum and can be marked and reported as such.

EDIT: I see that the review you linked doesn't answer that particular question but there are tons of other reviews on this lubricant and I'm sure at least a few of them do so read others.
    • Most of the reviews mention it's bland (it's not a flavored/scented lube), and a few mention that it's bitter.
