Maximus: Manna of the Gods, Just Don't Drink It!

Maximus is one fine lube. It retains moisture beautifully, doesn't clump up and get sticky like KY, has no smell, and it's water based! I've always had a love/hate relationship with my lubes, they're always too watery, too chunky, too tacky, and dry up too fast. I own multiple silicone toys, so silicone lube was out of the question. Maximus solves these problems masterfully. It's the lube that works the way a lube should. It's easy to dispense and transport to the needed site, as it is thicker than most and doesn't drip everywhere. A pump lasts for about 30 minutes of vigorous penis in vagina sex (but hopefully the woman gets more wet during the process anyway!), and a couple pumps make anal sex a breeze!
In fact, let me talk a bit about anal sex with this lube. It feels amazing and stays wet, which is especially important for anal sex. I haven't used a better lube for anal yet personally.
With toys, it's a great candidate for any material, as it is water based. It's great for just squirting some on the clitoris and using a vibe to spread it around and enjoy the buzz. It also make insertion of toys more enjoyable and relaxing.
The only downside to this lube is the taste. It's downright disgusting, and tastes like some strange bitter concoction that you'd wish you'd never tasted. So if I wanted to give a blow job with some lube, this would NOT be the one I reached for. Also, you have to shower before the taste goes away, as I found out one day when I masturbated with the lube before my boyfriend came over. Even though it dries and feels like there was nothing there, the taste remains! We got a little frisky and he started to lick my clit and then stopped and said, "You taste really weird and bad..." as politely as possible. Meh.

I know most people absolutely love this lube, but when I try to use it, it feels like my genitals are on fire! Could it be due to the parabens? Any thoughts, or any recommendations for another thicker water-based lubricant?

I'm not sure if it's kosher to mention a competitor's product here, but BabeLube is a wonderful water-based lube that's comparable in thickness to Maximus.

Maximus is my go-to lube. I have very sensitive skin and have never had a problem with it.

Is Maximus as Great as The Reviews Say?

Two negative things I've seen written are that it has a bitter aftertaste and it does peel off, dry, and need to be washed off.
Positives and opposites I've heard are that it has a natural tasteless feel similar to saliva, and it is a thicker lubricant. Also the pump looks like a great feature that makes this product less messy.
I would like to try it for myself, and wonder if it is really the go-to lube for me, and for others like me. -
This is my favorite water-based lube, hands down and without a doubt. It's pretty thick (ideal for backdoor fun). I've fallen asleep with it on my hands and don't wake up with fuzzy or sticky palms (until they get wet, then it reactivates).

Does Maximus come in any other size bottles? I feel like 8 oz. would be a lot for me to use before it goes bad. Also, it seems like a big bottle to store somewhere discrete.

It really isn't very big - I have mine it a bedside drawer. Maximus is so thick that you don't have to worry about it leaking unless you really press on the bottle. If my mind isn't playing tricks on me, the bottle is about 2-3/4" in diameter and 4-1/2 to 5 inches tall (including pump), and I think it's closer to 4.5
I think mine's good to 2013 or something (I'm not at home now, but I can check later), so I wouldn't worry about it going bad -
