Maximus - lubricant discontinued by Bodywise Limited - review by Coalba

A while back I decided I wanted to try a new lube, and as I love Liquid Silk I thought I'd give Maximus a try. I am pleased to report that Maximus is a great lube that lives up to the reputation created for it.

It's a very thick lubricant with a high glycol content. Seriously, this stuff is THICK, which makes it perfect for anal sex! It will stay in place on a person or a toy for a fairly long time and I almost never have the need to reapply it. The thick consistency is also a blessing when you're dealing with larger insertions; it really helps ease that transition, which is one thing that I found Liquid Silk isn't great at without a few reapplications. However unlike Liquid Silk, it does not feel very natural at all. The downside to being so thick is that I remain very aware that lubricant has been applied for the first several minutes. That doesn't bother everyone, but it's something to keep in mind.

It's very solid quality, completely odorless and colorless. There's no stickiness or tackiness left behind after use, which is my #1 lubricant necessity. The squirt bottle it comes in makes application easy and mess-free, although thanks to the thick consistency you need to pay attention and make sure to spread it fairly evenly. If you press too hard/fast, it will all rush out onto place and you'll have to spread the lube with your hands, which makes the no-mess bottle rather arbitrary.

It's water-based so there's no worry of it interacting with silicone toys. It doesn't leave any residue on any of my toys, and cleans off very easily. However it will occasionally leave residue in ME, and for this reason I tend to not use Maximus for vaginal sex anymore. It's easy to clean up; most surfaces will wipe clean with just a baby wipe. Because it's so compatible with all toy types, this really does make an amazing lube for people who engage in a lot of anal play.

I find that the main charm of Maximus lies within the realm of anal play, and while it will work for other uses, it doesn't bring anything too new or interesting to the table. All in all, it's a good product, and if you buy it you won't regret it.

To elaborate on the residue left in me: sometimes, after vaginal sex or solo vaginal use, I will notice some specks of the lube left behind in me. I'm not sure it it's due to mixing with my own fluids or inherent in the lubricant itself, but it's most definitely a result of this lube. It's not hard to clean up or terribly disgusting- still far less messy than a lot of the mainstream lubricants out there- but it is something to keep in mind. I don't know if other women would have this problem, but I do feel it's worth mentioning.
