Maximum Thickness!

The Maximus lubricant is a thick, water-based lubricant created specifically with anal use in mind. Despite its targeted use, however, I think Maximus could easily be used anywhere that one required lubricant. As I am not particularly fond of vaginal lubricant (I’m pretty slick naturally), I did not try this lube vaginally, but only anally. I experienced no adverse allergic reaction to this product and it dried easily without leaving me feeling sticky or dirty. An added bonus to Maximus is that it does contain ingredients which help to prevent the spread of bacteria and fungus, truly making it an ideal anal lubricant. Unfortunately, it does contain parabens, so if you are looking for products that are strictly paraben free, this lubricant might not be the one for you.

I was extremely surprised by the thickness of the Maximus lube! Although I was prepared for this lube to be thick, this is the anal-targeted lubricant that I’ve ever tried, so I found the thickness to be quite a surprise. Maximus is so thick, in fact, that it doesn’t really drip on to your hand when you squeeze it out of the container—instead, you have to press the lid slightly in to your hand to sort of “sever” the lube you actually want in your hand from the lube in the container. It’s hard to describe the texture of the lube, but it reminds me a little of half-melted jello: somewhere between a liquid and a solid, vaguely confused about its place in the world. It’s apparent how thick Maximus is even by peering into the container, as the settled top of the lube in the container isn’t glassy like a thinner lube or water might be, but textured with thickness and bubbles.

The extreme thickness of this lubricant is a huge turn off for me, but I will say that it felt extremely natural inside of me. I suppose natural isn’t really even the right word because frankly, I couldn’t really feel Maximus on my toy at all. While Maximus provides plenty of lubrication, I found that I needed to reapply it several times during extended use, as it kept drying up. Nonetheless, a little did go a long way, so the reapplication didn’t use up a particularly large amount of the bottle. Maximus is also not a stringy lube in the least.

Maximus does not have a scent or taste, which is a feature that may help those with sensitive skin or frequent skin allergies. Maximus is edible, although I wouldn’t exactly recommend having a bit with your dinner. At its core, this is a product made to be minimalistic and effective, which means the company left out things like scent, taste, or warming features. However, if you can get past the extreme thickness of the lubricant (or if you’re looking for that sort of thing), this minimal lube might be exactly what you’re looking for.

Maximus is very much a “little bit goes a long way” sort of lubricant, which is a relief because I did find myself needing to reapply it several times. While it never entirely dried up for me, it didn’t stay as slick as it was in the first few minutes for very long. Since it took me quite a while to warm up to the toy I was using at the time, I found it slightly inconvenient to reapply the lube. While Maximus certainly helped keep things lubricated, because it is a water-based lube, it isn’t as slick as some oil-based lubricants might be. I had an easier time getting things inside, but unfortunately couldn’t actually feel the slickness of the toy, which wasn’t something I cared for. When I finished I did need to wash the lubricant off of the toy it has been on, but did not need to wash it off of myself: it dried without a trace (and in a reasonable amount of time as well).

Maximus lubricant comes in a rather classy (and subtle) pump dispenser. Since many lubricants come with sort of shampoo-style lid, I found the dispenser extremely refreshing. Furthermore, since the lube is simply titled “Maximus” and doesn’t contain images of naked or wanton women on the bottle, I felt comfortable leaving it out around my room without fear of offending or tipping off guests as to what it was. The only real downside to the pump dispenser is that, of course, once it’s open it cannot be fully closed, making this lube slightly difficult to transport. I found that the best way to transport it is my simply setting it upright and making sure nothing could potentially hit the lid and force lube out of the bottle. Straight from Edenfantasys, the bottle came with a shrink-wrapped plastic seal holding the pump down and keeping the container closed and was in a thin plastic bag: simple and easy.

Otherwise, the bottle is clear and simplistic, features black lined artwork that looks vaguely Greek. It’s a classy approach to packaging and I can definitely appreciate it! The bottle doesn’t really contain instructions, but does contain a list of ingredients for those that need to keep them handy.
