Safe, Slick, and Silky!

This is now my favorite lube. It is hypoallergenic and feels very slick and natural. It isn't sticky or greasy, and doesn't get flaky when it dries. It simply absorbs into your skin like a lotion would. It's vegan friendly, animal friendly, glycerin free, and all-natural. What's not to love?

Use

This lubricant is a part of Sliquid's Organics line. The lubricant is vegan and animal friendly, and the ingredients are: Purified water, Plant cellulose(from cotton),Aloe borbadenis*, Natural tocopherole(Vitamin E), Cyamopsis, Extracts of Hibiscus*, Flax*, Green tea* and Sunflower seed*, Isopropyl Palmitate, Polysorbate 20, Dimethicone, Emolient Ester, Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol(Rose ether). It is listed as a water-based lube, but it does contain 12% silicone so it is actually a hybrid. This is the dimethicone listed in the ingredients. It is safe for most toys, but I would spot test it before using it with any silicone ones to be sure there is no chemical reaction. I have used it on a silicone toy with no problems myself.

Its glycerin, petroleum, and paraben free, so it will not cause any yeast infections for those who are prone to them. It is also hypoallergenic and safe for sensitive skin and those with chemical allergies. I do have very sensitive skin, and have had absolutely no problems with this product. It is non-staining and works great for intercourse and vaginal play.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The best thing about this lube is that it is not sticky , tacky, or greasy feeling at all. It also does not get flaky when dry. It absorbs into the skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth afterwards. It feels very natural, I don't feel like I've used lube at all with this product.

The consistency is neither runny nor gel-like; it is kind of in-between for thickness. It feels more like lotion or creamy body wash than lube. You do not need to use a lot, so the bottle will last a while. You may have to reapply sometimes for longer sessions though.
    • Creamy
    • Slick
    • Smooth

Taste / Aroma

I didn't notice any smell to the lube, but there is a slight bitter chemical taste to it. The taste is very minimal, especially when compared to how strongly a lot of lubes taste. It is not supposed to be ingested though, and I'm not sure I would want to give oral after using it.
    • Light taste
    • No smell

Performance

For staying power, this lube does better than most water-based lubricants but is not as good as silicone-based ones in my opinion. It absorbs into the skin, so for longer periods of play you may need to reapply. Natural lubrication, water, and saliva do make it regain it's slickness. I have not had much issues with this, just once or twice have I needed to remoisten or reapply on my clit.
It does not need to be washed off immediately. It absorbs into the skin and does not leave any sticky or greasy feeling. It doesn't even feel like I have used lube afterwards, and occasionally I have waited till morning to wash it off with no problems (and I do have sensitive skin).
It is easy to clean up, wiping it off works fine or simply washing it off with soap and water.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural

Packaging

The packaging is very discreet looking, and actually reminds me of old apothecary bottles. It does not at all look like a product for sexual lubrication, and could easily sit unnoticed with other lotions, soaps, or body care items. The bottle is made with recyclable dark brown plastic. The label is slightly off-white with light olive green and brown lettering. The pop-top lid is an easy to open lid, and can be opened with one hand. The bottle itself is firm, but squeezable. It will not leak due to the top, and even if the top is left open it isn't runny so will not leak much, if at all. The only downside to the packaging is that gunk builds-up in the opening, but that tends to happen with most lubes. Wiping the opening of the bottle after each use will prevent any gunk build up.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Does not leak
    • Recyclable

Personal comments

I loved this lubricant from the first time I tried it. With sensitive skin, it's hard for me to find a lubricant that does not irritate my skin, and the Sliquid Organics Silk has just been perfect for me.

Experience

One of the things I liked about this lube that was that it is a semi-opaque white color and looks like cum. I love that it is not sticky, which is a huge turn-of with most lubes for me. It actually feels very slick, smooth, and almost creamy. I was very happy that it does not need to be washed off, because it absorbs into your skin and leaves it feeling very soft. I tested it on my hand and it worked a lot like a face lotion would.
As far as it being a hybrid lube, I did test it on Couture Collection Utopia and had no reaction. There was also no reaction with it with use, so there may not be enough dimethicone in it to cause a reaction. I would still spot test this on any silicone toys first to be sure.
Follow-up commentary
I still absolutely love this stuff. Best lubricant I have tried so far, love how it leaves my skin feeling soft afterwards without sticky residue.

I too have sensitive skin (maybe not as sensitive as yours though) and I agree, it is great to find a product that does not cause any irritation. Excellent job hun!!

Awesome review! I have sensitive skin and have only used Sliquid Organics since I've found it - it is awesome to use a non-irritating lube. I will have to try the Silk next!

  • Lies!!
    • I was about to get the Sliquid silk organics over the regular Sliquid organics...until I stumbled across a review that says that it's not entirely water-based. It's actually a water-silicone hybrid lube, but Eden has it listed solely as a water-based lube. I was intending to purchase it to use with my silicone toys (which has the possibility of warping the silicone toys), so I'm very grateful that someone thought to post the truth about this lube in their review.
    • I've noticed this, too. As far as I've know, the only hybrid lube that is listed as "silicone/water" is Wet Synergy. Anybody know why this is?
    • It says the base is silicone / water on the product page - or do you mean it's listed that way somewhere else?

  • Sliquids shelf life?
    • Does anybody know what the shelf life on this would be? I'm wondering if it would be less than other lubes because of all the natural ingredients it contains. Any info on this or other natural lubes would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'd like to know what it is as well.
    • I prefer the Sliquid organics line myself, but I don't know the shelf life. I'd love to know as well

  • Why is it called silk?
    • just wondering why it is called silk? I assume there is not silk involved since this is a vegan product. right? I have seen some cosmetics "infused with real silk" so the name is throwing me off. Just wanted reassurance
    • I'm going to answer assuming your question is serious.

If you read the product description, it states "Natural creamy and silky, non-sticky texture." The name "Silk" is referring to the texture of the lubricant, meaning it is smooth as in "smooth as silk."

when you have people try to sabotage you, it is not unreasonable to get paranoid. I know it says vegan, but so have lots of things that have said vegan but then were not.

like I said. just wanting reassurance. thanks.
