Silky & Satisfying

My favorite lubricant to use with a partner. If you're looking for something longer lasting than other lubricants and don't want to compromise on great ingredients, definitely check out Sliquid Organics Silk. If it had lasted a bit longer I would have given it five stars.
longer lasting than other Sliquids, great ingredients

Silk is a hybrid silicone/water-based lubricant by Sliquid Organics. I got this product because standard water-based lubricants were just not lasting long enough for us. I'm very sensitive and wanted a lubricant that was both long-lasting and wouldn't irritate me. I think this lube is great for everyday sex, although due to the silicone content, I would be wary of using it extensively for oral. Also, because it contains silicone, I would not recommend using it with silicone toys, just in case.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Slightly runnier than a gel, Silk is a fairly thick but extremely natural feeling lube. I've heard others describe it as white but mine is still clear, if a tad milky/cloudy. I'm completely smitten with the Sliquid Organics formula; they really do an amazing job. It doesn't pour quickly and the wedge-style cap doesn't make it any easier, but it stays in place fairly well. It does get tacky for a few seconds as it dries, but leaves no residue. We still had to reapply, but not as often as with other Sliquids.

Taste / Aroma

The smell of Silk is light, pleasant and a tad soapy. I could not really detect a distinct taste. It's very inoffensive though, even calming.
    • Light smell

I didn't time how long it lasted, but I found it lasted about half again as much as a plain water-based lube, sometimes even twice as long depending on how much natural lubrication was provided. It dries to nothing so cleanup is minimal or nonexistent. I do wish it lasted a bit longer, but we tend to have really lengthy sessions, so it might just be perfect for those who don't need as long. I've used more heavy silicone-based lubes in the past and while this isn't quite as velvety or long-lasting as those, I still find it preferable because of the ingredients.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural
    • Not compatible with all materials

The dark bottle and wedge top remind me of something you might find in a fancy hotel bathroom, but as it says "natural lubricating silk" on the front, it is not the most discreet packaging. It is definitely inoffensive though. I'd prefer a pump applicator to a wedge cap, as it is isn't the easiest to dispense quickly.

In addition to their mission and what the product is meant for, Sliquid lists the following about Silk:

-Includes natural and organic ingredients
-Natural silky and creamy texture (non-sticky)
-Water-based and water soluble
-Glycerine, paraben & petroleum free
-Hypoallergenic and non-staining
-100% Vegan-friendly / NO animal-testing
-Proudly formulated & produced in the USA
    • Does not leak
    • Minimal
    • Very informative packaging

Special Features

This is a hybrid lube so it combines the easy cleaning of a water-based lubricant with added longevity of a silicone-based lube.

Personal comments

My partner is not a big fan of lubricants for intercourse, but going without them is not an option for us. He had no major complaints about Silk (unlike Sliquid Sensation/Warming and Aloe Cadabra, both of which he didn't care for), although he did note that it got a bit tacky after a while.

My partner and I tend to have extended sessions most of the time. As a result, finding a lube that is long lasting as well as meets my needs ingredient-wise is very difficult. Sliquid Organics Silk is the best we've tried so far. While it still doesn't last as long as I'd like it to as a hybrid water-and-silicone based lubricant, I think it does quite well. If it had lasted as long as I'd like it to (perhaps an hour? Is that too much to ask?), it would have been perfect.
