Liv me tender, Liv me sweet

Liv, of all the Lelo vibes, is genuinely my favorite. She's like an old standby, always dependable, comfortably shaped. She lasts a long time, both during play and while in storage. She's, to me, just right in both her moderate vibes and her easy to use shape. Not a powerhouse, but she always gets me there and does it well.

Pros:
Quiet, discreet, velvety silicone, moderately strong
Cons:
Shaft can get slippery, I don't have the green one

extremely useful review
I don't know if I've ever admitted it before but Liv was my first Lelo vibe and, to this day, remains my favorite.

She is not the strongest Lelo vibe. She is not the largest. She is not the prettiest. And yet, somehow, she is the one I reach for more often than any of the others. She's durable, dependable, never finicky and she flat out works for me.

She's like a comfy partner you've had forever, who knows all the right spots and fits against your body just right.

Liv is one of the first generation Lelo vibes and is sized comparably to Gigi; is, in fact, pretty much the same vibe only with different heads. She measures in at 7 inches long with an insertable length of 4.5 inches. She has a slim diameter of just over an inch but doesn't feel small. I normally prefer larger toys but Liv never leaves me wanting.

Partially I think this is due to her amazing silicone shaft. While the handle is plastic, the shaft is covered with buttery soft silicone that feels soft as a baby's butt. This gives it a nice drag against the skin, sort of like skin on skin, which aids in really feeling the toy even though it is slender. If you dislike this kind of matte silicone and drag, you can just add extra water based lube and that minimizes it fairly well. (NO silicone lubes as they can react badly to the silicone body of the toy)

Liv also has a curved shaft which starts out at about an inch in diameter just after the handle and bulges nicely to it's full 1 1/8 inches. It is not a round bulge, however, but bulges on the inside of the shaft, so that you get a nice area for rubbing against the g-spot. I'm not entirely sure this would work well for g-spot stimulation if you have trouble finding yours or need a lot of pressure but, for me, it works quite well for gentle g-spot rubbing.

I also really like the Liv for clitoral stimulation. She's not too large, not awkward and her curved body makes it very easy for me to simply lay her shaft or tip against my clit and rub a bit. Because she's virtually silent I don't get distracted and always have amazing orgasms. She's not super strong so they take awhile but I love longer building orgasms best anyhow. The short, fast ones just don't do it for me in the same way.

I'd say Liv is moderate in strength and should be enough for most though those who like a lot of power may be frustrated by her. She is rechargeable and comes with a charging cord - simply plug it into the wall and then into the silicone covered port on her underside, let charge for two hours and you get two hours of play time. Liv is not waterproof, though, so clean her gently with soap and water or a spray cleaner, toy wipe or bleach spray but don't get water into her charging port. If you do, simply purse your lips and blow it out, allowing to fully dry before charging.

It's easy to get lube on the plastic handle of the Liv and that can make her slippery during use so be sure you use caution and moderate amounts of lube to start. You can always add more if you need it. Also, don't use for anal play as there is no flared shaft. Lelo makes the Billy for that!

Control vibrations when using Liv via the touch pad on her shaft. Plus button for on and up, minus button for down and off. Up arrow to scroll thru patterns, of which there are four. Patterns are fairly basic fast and slow pulses, ramping, escalating, plus the steady vibes. Vibrations start at the lowest rumble and increase thru nine different levels that I can count.

Liv also has a locking feature for storage and travel - simply press and hold her button in the middle and it will lock, only turning on again if you press and hold, not if the button gets bumped.

Like all Lelo products, packaging is awesome and great for gifting. A color coordinated outer box, heavy duty cardboard inner box, the Liv, her charging cord, a satiny drawstring bag for storage, a user manual, warranty booklet and 10 year quality guarantee.

The only thing I would change about the Liv is the fact that I got the Navy one. I lust for the lime green...
Follow-up commentary
I have had my Liv for nearly two years. I have almost all the Lelo products, though I stopped collecting when the Insignia line came out because, aesthetically, most of the newer stuff isn't all that pleasing to me. I love almost all the products I do have and am always impressed by the packaging, the simplicity of design and the soft, velvet-like silicone.

In spite of all the "better" Lelo products I have it is still Liv I love the most, still Liv I reach for first. I can hit my g-spot with Liv, I can stimulate my clit with Liv, Liv lasts for ever and a day between charges and is so quiet there is no chance anyone is going to know I'm using her if I need privacy.

Liv may not be my favorite vibe of all time but she is the Lelo product I would recommend first to just about any user.

After two years she still looks as good as new, still holds a charge as long as ever and is still super quiet. You really can't go wrong unless you need something with Hitachi-like strength.

If the biggest con is that you don't have it in a green color, then this thing might be good

  • Liv settings
    • I have the Liv and find all the interval settings to just be annoying! I use it strictly on the regular constant vibration setting. What's your favorite Liv setting?
    • Roller coaster is a really nice pattern

  • Liv strength like the siri?
    • I have the siri and I love it, and I was wondering if this has the same strength/depth as the siri?

  • Toy Colors
    • Looking at the new Lime Green color of LELO's Liv, I'm very close to buying it, just because it's such a kick ass color. Anybody else have a soft spot for nicely colored toys?

Gigi will be my next purchase, and I think the dusty rose actually looks really pretty, but now there's bright blue...lol, I'm torn.
    • Blue, green, and orange are my favorites. I prefer the "non-natural" coloring :-). Even if it's shaped like a real penis, it should be day-glo purple or somesuch :-)
    • I'm that way too. I like non-natural colors for toys. That is a kick ass color, that green. The pink Gigi does look pretty, but I also like how bright the turquoise is too! My next big buy will probably be a Gigi too, it just sounds so amazing. :)

  • The Liv or the Gigi. Both by Lelo
    • I've been hearing a lot lately about the Gigi. I haven't paid much attention because I absolutely love my Liv. I flipped back and saw that they are the same price, same company and only slightly different design. Does anyone actually have both? The Liv has been my all time favorite vibrator for a long time.
    • I actually have the Liv (though I haven't written up a review yet), the Iris, and the Elise. Honestly, and I hate to say it, but the Liv is probably my least favorite of the bunch. It's still an excellent vibe, but it's missing the delicious texturing of the Iris and the g-spot magic of the Gigi. If you like Lelo's products, I'd say the Gigi is definitely worth checking out!

Er, Elise=Gigi. I really shouldn't attempt to type before my morning coffee. *blush*
