A Fantastic Starter.
First-timer? This is what you need to start with. The Anal Starter is a great product for beginners venturing into anal play or experienced users who want to get started with something smaller.Published: April 27, 2009
Pros:
Small, easy, and a great way to start out with anal toys.
Cons:
Very strong odor, some users may have problems with the material.
If you're just curious about anal play, this is the toy for you. It doesn't buzz, it doesn't twist, it's simple, and fun.
First of all, this toy has an overwhelming smell to it. It's a very sweet, pungent smell that actually doesn't come out even after quite a few cleanups. I'd rather have my toys unscented, but it doesn't really matter either way.
Second, personally, I've had a problem with Sil-A-Gel products. I'm not allergic to the jelly material, nor silicone, but it seems that with Sil-A-Gel products, it causes a stinging sensation when inserted - it goes away once removed, so it has to be the material. No other type of toy does this. It's easily overcome by using a condom, but I'd rather let you know before you order, rather than you find out on your own. The material itself is very pliable, but rigid at the same time. You can press in with your finger but it bounces right back. The only exception here is the tip, which feels like rigid plastic. The jelly part of Sil-A-Gel brings down the hygienic factor a bit, so clean this toy properly after each use.
The base of the toy can be used as a basic suction cup. I found that it wasn't powerful enough to really hold the toy down when you pull up on it, but it does its job for positioning to begin with.
The toy isn't wide at all. It's enough to be pleasurable but not uncomfortable for first-time users. In fact, experienced users may find this lacking in thickness for their tastes, but again, it is a starter toy - if you haven't played with yourself for a while, this is a great way to get back into the groove before trying the bigger, wider toys.
If you're overzealous in your thrusting, there is the small possibility that you could lose this toy inside you. The base isn't much wider than the tip, so be very careful in keeping at least the base outside of your body. It might be an embarrassing story to tell the hospital nurse should you be unable to get it out.
Overall, I can't complain about this toy at all. Its few problems - the material, the odor - can be overcome easily with a condom or washing repeatedly (and I mean plenty of times) and the joys of this toy when you play with it far outweigh the bad.
If you wanna venture into anal toys, this is it!

Follow-up commentary
3 months after original review
After two months, this product still retains a mild smell. It's not terrible, but it is very sweet smelling either (not.. a good sweet smell, but it's nowhere near as overpowering as it was). The toy still retains its shape, since the material keeps up well over time. There are no pits, no divots, or anything you might encounter with a softer material.
Over time, you may find your smaller toys going into disuse if you find more exciting and larger toys that fit you better. This one hasn't had much use for me lately, but it's still a fun, simple toy to play with. It's uncomplicated, and works great! Don't forget the fun of your first anal toy!

Anal Started Differences?
-
QuestHi everyone,
I'm wondering about the two "Anal Starter" dildos.
When I compare them side by side, they show some different details, like the measurements.
But, when I switch between them in the 1:1-views, there's barely a difference besides the base a bit and the color of course.
So, are the details correct or are they really not different at all?
Besides, again, the color and the shape slightly.
I'd really like to know this, especially the correct measurements, it would help me out a lot. :) -

I would NOT recommend this product for anal play, but that is just my opinion. The base is not flared enough for my comfort level. If you wanted to stick low cost and with Doc Johnson, I'd suggest this one instead. The base is a bit more differentiated for the rest of it.
good luck! -
