Inexpensive, Modest Size.

This toy is definitely worth it for beginners coming to explore the world of anal play. Intermediates may still find this pleasurable as a plug, or just for double penetration. The smooth, slim design makes it very approachable, and it won't bite at all.

Pros:

Non-intimidating size

Use

This toy...this toy, where do I begin? This toy is not only exceptional for beginners, but also for those more experienced with anal play. This toy has a very modest, and non-intimidating size, making it a very approachable buy. Obviously, this toy is for anal play, though you could use it vaginally. The size might be too small for vaginal play however. It does offer a couple variety of uses, which is definitely a plus in my book. It has a slightly flared base (flared enough so that it won't slip inside you, and get lost; thus making for a very disturbing trip to your local doctor), which can be stuck to flat surfaces, like porcelain, tiles, etc. Please note, the suction isn't terribly strong, so if you really like to rock it, this toy will detach from the surface. Another thing to mention, this toy will NOT stimulate a male's prostate, unless maneuvered very awkwardly. If your main objective is to hit the spot, then you're probably better finding another toy. This fact didn't detour me from using the product and I'm glad for that.

Material / Texture

As read on the product page, this toy comes from Doc Johnson's SilaGel product line, not to be confused with silicone, they're entirely different. It is latex and Phthalates free, which is a very big plus. It also has an antibacterial property to it, however, you still need to wash it before and after each use. Being porous, this product attracts all of the lint, dust bunnies, and hair you can find in your home. Washing it with warm water, soap, and gently drying it with a towel is your best option. Immediately put it back in its case, or a plastic bag, separate from other toys. The toy itself has a very smooth texture, with a small pronounced tip and slightly raised veins. Naturally, this toy is much smaller than a normal penis and the veins aren't enough to add extra stimulation to your anal play. Also, being that it is jelly, it gives off a jelly/chemical smell. I'm sure you've all heard of it, but a few good washings and that smell will hardly be noticable. I didn't want to taste it, but I'd imagine the taste is no better than the smell.

Design / Shape / Size

As previously stated, this toy takes its shape after the male penis. The tip of it is very pronounced and detailed, while the veins are somewhat lacking in that category. Put simply, this is a slimmer version of the penis. The length is about 6 inches, with a width of one inch, making this the perfect toy for first time anal users and intermediates as well. The design is very non-intimidating, and very easy to slide in (and if you're feeling lucky, thrusting on your first time as well). I found no trouble slowly sliding this toy in with a generous amount of lube, of course. Since the toy is smooth, it won't catch on anything. This toy isn't discreet at all, in any way. It is shaped like a penis and everyone will know what it's used for, but it's very suitable for travel, seeing as it is small.

Performance

The thing that is best about the toy has to be its size. It's very small and isn't difficult at all to put in. You can also stick it to a flat surface for solo play, though I haven't tried that yet. It is harness compatible, but you would need an o-ring small enough to fit on it. The only real downside to this toy is the smell. At first, it's almost intolerable. Fresh from the package, you should probably wash it down, so it won't hinder playtime later.
    • Comfortable
    • Easy to use
    • Not very discreet

Care and Maintenance

This is a fairly simple toy to clean. You can either use a toy-cleaning kit, or simply wash it under warm water with soap. Always wash before and after each use. I store mine right back in the original casing after I'm done and I have no complaints so far. Using a condom can prolong the life of your toy, but it's your call. This toy is cheap enough that you wouldn't have to worry about that too much.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The toy comes packaged in a brown box filled to the brim with brown paper, hiding your toys below. The tag on the box doesn't say where it came from, other than a random number and saying it's from Georgia. The box can be used for storage, hiding away in the back of your closet (if you live with nosy family or roommates).
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Good for storage

Experience

At first, I was skeptical about introducing anal play into my sex-life, but my girlfriend insisted, saying it would be very pleasurable. Since the time we talked about it, my curiosity kept growing and growing until finally, she bought me this. I have to admit, I was nervous at first. I was expecting it to be somewhat painful and wasn't entirely sure how it was going to play out. I am glad I went through with it because it was very enjoyable. After I climaxed with the toy inside, my legs wouldn't stop shaking for 10 minutes and I couldn't catch my breath. For all of those anxious or nervous about anal play, you just need to take that first step. I promise you, most of you will come to love it.

  • Has anyone used the Doc Johnson anal starter with a harness?
    • what size o ring did you use?
    • I wouldn't recommend it. Too short of an insertable length, not made of bodysafe material, and the flange doesn't have enough size difference with the body to ensure that it's securely held in a harness.

If you must then I'd go with one as close to 1" as you can get the dildo into.

  • Anal Started Differences?
    • Quest
      Hi everyone,

I'm wondering about the two "Anal Starter" dildos.
When I compare them side by side, they show some different details, like the measurements.
But, when I switch between them in the 1:1-views, there's barely a difference besides the base a bit and the color of course.

So, are the details correct or are they really not different at all?
Besides, again, the color and the shape slightly.

I'd really like to know this, especially the correct measurements, it would help me out a lot. :)

are you talking about the difference between the purple one and the green one?

I would NOT recommend this product for anal play, but that is just my opinion. The base is not flared enough for my comfort level. If you wanted to stick low cost and with Doc Johnson, I'd suggest this one instead. The base is a bit more differentiated for the rest of it.

      good luck!

I agree with Mr. Sauce. Also, it would be best to go with a non-porous material like silicone.
