Oh, Ryder! My butt and I love you

Ryder is a great plug made from 100% body safe, medical grade silicone. It's easily sanitized and with the right amount of lube will remain comfortable inside you for hours. The narrow neck and flared base makes it safe and easy to wear. Ryder is quite possibly the perfect plug.

extremely useful review
I've had a touch and go history with butt plugs. So many have interested me and subsequently let me down. Not until I took a risk and bought Tantus's Ryder plug did I find what could quite possibly be the perfect plug.

There's just something about Tantus's products. Could it be the 100% medical grade silicone they use that is extremely body safe? Perhaps. Could it be the pretty colors all their products come in? Likely. Is it the well thought out design and excellent overall quality? Definitely!

Let's start with that silicone I mentioned. It's firm, yet comfortable once inside you. You will definitely feel this plug. But at the same time it's not too firm and unyielding. What I like about silicone additionally is that you can fully sanitize it. Given that this toy goes up your butt, that's a great thing! Tantus's silicone is boilable, bleachable and comes clean beautifully. You don't have to worry about it absorbing odors or discoloring for whatever reason.

I've used this plug with a variety of lubes. My go-to lube is Wet Original water-based and generally you should use only water-based lubes with silicone toys so you don't degrade the material by using silicone-based lubes. Silicone lubes will melt the surface and turn it tacky in no time. Having something of that consistency in you butt is definitely not sexy. *shudders* I wouldn't even want to imagine that inside me. I've tested this plug with new hybrid part silicone, part water-based lubricants though, specifically Wet Synergy. I haven't had a problem yet, but that doesn't mean it's not possible. To be on the safe side, I suggest water-based lubricants.

When using anal toys you should always use an anal toy that has a flared base. This will prevent unfortunate mishaps where your anal sphincter contracts to the point that whatever toy you're using gets sucked or pulled inside your butt. Let's avoid embarrassing trips to the emergency room if at all possible, people.

Ryder has a suitable flared base that will prevent such mishaps and also sits nicely between your butt cheeks. It's narrow enough to be comfortable, yet wide enough to be safe for extended anal play. I've worn this plug upwards of six hours and have yet to have a problem with it. The neck is narrow and the anal sphincter closes perfectly around it. Some plugs have a wide neck and almost force you to keep your sphincter unclenched whenever you're using it. Plugs like that make me nervous, especially being someone who laughs a lot. One hard laugh and plugs with wider necks may fly out of you! Ryder definitely won't fly out. It stays securely where you put it and only comes out when you want it to.

Ryder may not be the best anal plug for the beginner plug user because it's somewhat girthy around the widest insertable part. Intermediate and advanced anal players will find that it inserts easily and comfortably with a little relaxation. I've found clitoral stimulation helps with comfortable insertion as well.

Remember to clean your toys after use and if you store them in a lint-rich environment to clean them before use. Ryder doesn't attract too much lint while in storage, but most silicone toys attract some. If you're going to be sharing toys with partners in one play session, also make sure to clean them between each partner. I don't want to hear about anybody who reads this catching any infection.

Bottom line? Ryder is a very comfortable, quality anal plug that will be a staple in your anal toy collection for a long time. With three great colors to choose from, make sure to get one for yourself today.
Experience
I used this plug during some double penetration sex and embarrassingly I will admit that the girth of this plug combined with the girth of my sexual partner's penis led to a little bit of vaginal tearing. I am very petite and tight so this could have been the reason for that.

Another time I wore this plug out shopping and curiously found I was more apt to spend larger amounts of money when my ass was full. Target received quite a bit of my money that day.
Follow-up commentary
It's been many months since I purchased the Ryder plug and it is still my go-to silicone plug. It has a girth that one of my other plus can rival and yet is comfortable and filling. I hadn't used it in awhile and then tried to use it and the girth definitely made itself known. Heck, I managed to orgasm just from insertion of this thing alone! Generally I prefer my Njoy plugs, but when I want something soft and slightly squishy, I go for Ryder. I recommend it to everybody I know.

  • Can we get more toys in Copper?
    • The Ryder in Copper is so pretty. I'd love to see more toys offered in this colour. :) Is that likely to happen at all? I haven't seen it on any other listing. Is this colour discontinued?

Yes, it sure has been discontinued. It was weird - Copper was a slow seller, and we got some feedback from retailers that it wasn't at all popular. Then when we discontinued last Spring it got snapped up pretty quickly. I only have closeouts left, but we're hoping that by discontinuing Copper we'll have more time in the production schedule to pursue other colors.
    • Glow in the dark? That's my favorite color! Maybe something black light reactive?

  • Why should you never use silicone on a silicone toy?
    • Why should you never use silicone on a silicone toy?
    • Some, not all silicone lube will 'stick' to silicone material. I have read that some premium silicone lubes will work with some premium silicone materials. You can try some on the base and see, when I last tried it kinda etched the silicone material. (does that make sense) It left a indentation were the lube was.

That's the basics, Some of the other members can give a more technical answer.
    • Some silicone lubes will bond to some silicones. This seems to be more of an issue the softer the silicone is, so toys like O2 and VixSkin will be more susceptible (makes sense, as the silicone has fewer crosslinks). Quality lubes seem to have less of a problem also, and it is likely that cheaper silicones might have more of a problem.

I have tested quality silicone lube on several quality silicone toys and did not notice a permanent problem, but (a) the toys developed "hives" that lasted for a few hours (was gone the next day) and (b) it's really hard to clean the silicone lube off of the toys, but it can be done. While this is purely subjective, but it seemed that the silicone lube wasn't as "lubey" on silicone toys. I don't use silicone lube on silicone toys anymore - it's just not worth the trouble.

  • Is this going to be in stock soon?
    • If you haven't noticed, I've been going over my wishlist (see the O2 discussion) and I've noticed that this plug that I've wanted forever isn't even in stock. Will it be restocked?
    • That's funny. Two of the toys that I want to purchase are out of stock as well. The Vixen Ryder and Johnny. Then I noticed that several Vixen products are out of stock at the moment. I wonder when all of these toys will be restocked.
