Some, not all silicone lube will 'stick' to silicone material. I have read that some premium silicone lubes will work with some premium silicone materials. You can try some on the base and see, when I last tried it kinda etched the silicone material. (does that make sense) It left a indentation were the lube was.

That's the basics, Some of the other members can give a more technical answer.

Some silicone lubes will bond to some silicones. This seems to be more of an issue the softer the silicone is, so toys like O2 and VixSkin will be more susceptible (makes sense, as the silicone has fewer crosslinks). Quality lubes seem to have less of a problem also, and it is likely that cheaper silicones might have more of a problem.

I have tested quality silicone lube on several quality silicone toys and did not notice a permanent problem, but (a) the toys developed "hives" that lasted for a few hours (was gone the next day) and (b) it's really hard to clean the silicone lube off of the toys, but it can be done. While this is purely subjective, but it seemed that the silicone lube wasn't as "lubey" on silicone toys. I don't use silicone lube on silicone toys anymore - it's just not worth the trouble.

Over a period of time the lube will begin to break down the product, defeating the whole purpose of it being non-porous. If you're going to use a silicone lube with a silicone product, which I don't suggest, make sure you've got premium versions of both lube and product.

My understanding is that silicone lubes will damage silicone toys. I don't have personal experience because I've never tried silicone lube, but its not worth the risk given the investment in the toys. Thanks for commenting!

Silicone lubricant on a silicone toy causes degradation of the toy over time, which can result in a very tacky/unpleasant surface. HOWEVER, many people (myself included) have used PREMIUM silicone lube (Wet platinum and others) on PREMIUM silicone toys (Tantus fo' sure) without harmful affects to the toy. Your experience may differ. My best advice: only use good sili lube on a good sili toy when you don't have another option readily available. Stick with water-based with your silicone toys...it's cheaper anyways.

In doing some research for an upcoming review I found this article very informative. Oooh, right. I was going to do a patch test for that review too. *hurries off to do that*

Silicone lube can slowly deteriorate the surface of your toy, so it'll become sticky, and not very smooth. Silicone lubes are hard to clean off in general, so i basically avoid them.

This is it. The silicone in silicone lubes isn't very strongly bonded, so it will potentially bond to the silicone toy. The likelihood of this depends on the silicone in the lube and the silicone in the toy.

I tried it a couple of times on a toy and wasn't impressed. While it didn't bond, the silicone lube seemed to loose some of its slickness, and one one of the toys temporary "welts" developed.
