Ryde Me, Won't You Please?
This is a beautiful plug that's comfortable, is made of easy-to-love silicone, hypo-allergenic, and non-porous. It's also quite ergonomic and easy to use. However, it does attract a gross smell, and it's hard to get the smell off. I have to scrub with soap and water, and let it get really foamy as well as add toy cleaner after each use. Bah! We have to keep it in a plastic bag to keep the particles off. Because it's so comfortable, I'm going to have to give it four stars.Published: December 16, 2010
Pros:
Comfortable, Beautiful, Easy to Use, Ergonomic, Great and Detailed Packaging
Cons:
Smell is Gross, Hard to Clean to get Smell Off, Must Keep in a Plastic Bag to Keep Particles Off

I still love my Ryder, except for the lint. This plug is awesome, and even though it is high-maintenance in a lot of ways, it still gets a good amount of use (much more than my other plug, that's for sure).

Can we get more toys in Copper?
-
The Ryder in Copper is so pretty. I'd love to see more toys offered in this colour. :) Is that likely to happen at all? I haven't seen it on any other listing. Is this colour discontinued?

Is this colour discontinued?Yes, it sure has been discontinued. It was weird - Copper was a slow seller, and we got some feedback from retailers that it wasn't at all popular. Then when we discontinued last Spring it got snapped up pretty quickly. I only have closeouts left, but we're hoping that by discontinuing Copper we'll have more time in the production schedule to pursue other colors.

Glow in the dark? That's my favorite color! Maybe something black light reactive?

Why should you never use silicone on a silicone toy?

Why should you never use silicone on a silicone toy?

Some, not all silicone lube will 'stick' to silicone material. I have read that some premium silicone lubes will work with some premium silicone materials. You can try some on the base and see, when I last tried it kinda etched the silicone material. (does that make sense) It left a indentation were the lube was.
That's the basics, Some of the other members can give a more technical answer. -
Some silicone lubes will bond to some silicones. This seems to be more of an issue the softer the silicone is, so toys like O2 and VixSkin will be more susceptible (makes sense, as the silicone has fewer crosslinks). Quality lubes seem to have less of a problem also, and it is likely that cheaper silicones might have more of a problem.
I have tested quality silicone lube on several quality silicone toys and did not notice a permanent problem, but (a) the toys developed "hives" that lasted for a few hours (was gone the next day) and (b) it's really hard to clean the silicone lube off of the toys, but it can be done. While this is purely subjective, but it seemed that the silicone lube wasn't as "lubey" on silicone toys. I don't use silicone lube on silicone toys anymore - it's just not worth the trouble.

Is this going to be in stock soon?
-
If you haven't noticed, I've been going over my wishlist (see the O2 discussion) and I've noticed that this plug that I've wanted forever isn't even in stock. Will it be restocked?
-
That's funny. Two of the toys that I want to purchase are out of stock as well. The Vixen Ryder and Johnny. Then I noticed that several Vixen products are out of stock at the moment. I wonder when all of these toys will be restocked.

Thank you for viewing Ryder – anal toy review page!

Unfortunately, most soft-material anal toys will take up the scent afterwards. We've found that it helps a lot to clean the toy immediately after use then let it soak in warm water for a couple hours. (We normally do it overnight.) This has basically eliminated the scent for us. If we are ever left with scent, boiling (if it's a boil-safe toy like the Ryder is) seems to help a ton.
I never had a problem with a smell but I always clean it right after with a good toy cleaner. I love Climax Burst toy cleaner, it only takes 45 seconds to clean it and leaves a nice smell. Boiling is good as well
Nice review.
I read a suggestion about using baking soda to prevent odors in silicone toys, but I haven't tried it yet. Thanks for the review.
I have only noticed a faint smell every once in a while. I use an antibacterial soap with a fragrance that covers everything.
Great suggestions! I think boiling it might be a good idea. The fact that it holds a scent is gross. I like the baking soda idea too. Thanks, all!
Good to hear you enjoying this plug. It's definitely my favorite one. I've never had a problem with the scent, though.
thanks for the review! glad you like it
