Severin medium - butt plug by Tantus - review by Yoda

Tantus' Severin Medium is a plug designed to satisfy those with large appetites, but normal sized bum holes. That said, I'm not suggesting that Severin is an easy toy to take. But, rather, that for those who like a little stretch, this excellent plug will make you happy, without breaking the elastic of your turtle neck. It is best suited for true, but also sensible lovers of anal toys.

In my opinion, the best way to use it is to work it in slowly, or, at the very least, following some decent warm-up with a slightly smaller toy. Once in, I recommend gingerly taking it out and popping it back in a few times, before letting it sit and moving on to other things. This is a great plug to leave in during intercourse. It has a gently curved neck and flared base, so it sits quite comfortably while you move about. And, since it is large, it will stay snuggly in place and won't shoot out and end up crashing into your wife's jewelery stand, contaminating her mother's family brooch in the process.

The Severin is constructed of Tantus' excellent silicone. There are many brands of silicone toys out there, and Tantus is my favorite. This stuff is durable, with plenty of flex and give. On the firmness to softness scale, I would say this lies somewhere in the middle. It bends quite easily, but always bounces back into shape with a pronounced "pop". It's texture is oh so smooth, with a slight gleam in certain light and no seams or grainy texture whatsoever. If you like sleek toys, then this silicone will certainly meet your requirements.

I love the design of this toy. So many other plugs seem to follow the now standard bulb shape, which, while a proven favorite, leaves me wanting to try something new from time to time. For me, the Severin provides a welcome change. The tip is narrow and slightly rounded, and tapers out into a small bump which is roughly 1.25 inches in diameter. This part is easy to insert, and works like a staging point for the main bump which is to come. It is here where the fun begins. Measuring 1 7/8 of an inch in diameter, the larger bump takes some working up to, as well as plenty of thick lube. For me it takes some practice, but the end product is quite rewarding. Once in, the plug narrows down to a neck of 1 1/8 of an inch. When you're down to this point, the Severin feels immensely pleasurable. Leave it in, or work it in and out. Whatever you do with it, the double-bump design will not disappoint you.

I loved how the Severin rested, with mild pressure, against my prostate. I found it was perfect to use during intercourse, because during orgasm, it would pulsate in tandem with my body, adding intense p-spot stimulation. When you consider this, in addition to its ability to stay secure during other activities, it's not surprising that Severin has become my most used plug.

What can I say about caring for silicone sex toys? Plenty. Because they are non-porous, they can be easily sanitized in dishwasher, through boiling, or by simply using some decent soap, warm water, and determination. Just don't store it in the open, because, like rubber and jelly, it will attract dust, dander, and whatever else floats around the air of your abode.

It is also important to use water-based lubes with silicone toys. Don't ask me why, but for some scientific reason, silicone lube and silicone toys don't react well when put together. Oil based lubes certainly won't ruin this toy, but from my experience, the water-based ones are superior.
