A Challenge in Black

Yet another extremely high quality product from Tantus. This is a great, long-term plug I bought as a step up from the Ryder, and they delivered with a product exactly what I was looking for without breaking my...butt.

Use

This is another great plug from Tantus - I bought this intending to move a step up from the Ryder. I was looking for a larger plug - not necessarily a huge one - but with all the same features. This is a great, long-term plug with the comfortable flexible base, but unforgiving bumps and a girth to squeeze at. It might be a little wide for some of us to use vaginally, but go nuts - just make sure to use a condom or thoroughly clean the toy if you've already used it anally.

Material / Texture

Silicone is the way to go - it's body safe, pthalate-free, and extremely comfortable. You really can't go wrong with pure silicone. Silicone is non-porous, completely odor free, and silicone can be totally sterilized - with a bleach solution, the dishwasher, boiling it in water...the Severin can handle it. The smooth, glossy texture from top to bottom helps it glide smoothly for insertion - and believe me, I needed help with this at first. Any silicone toy can take either oil or water based lubes, but don't use silicone lube on any silicone toys. Like the Ryder, the Severin is made of somewhat squishy, but firm, pure silicone. The material is going to bend and move with you when you're out and about, wearing it in secret, but it's going to be unforgiving enough that you can't easily squish it down or distort the shape permanently.
    • Flexible
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

The base alone can make or break a plug for me. This plug passes all my tests. Like the Ryder, the base is flexible enough that if I am ordered (or want) to wear it out and about while I do my errands, it will move with my body and stay with me - tormenting me the entire time. While the neck and base is a LOT larger than the Ryder (almost double the width), it's nothing I couldn't handle. After I got it in, I had no problems keeping the Severin in, and I didnt have to constantly think about relaxing my muscles - after the initial "oh my god, this is OOOF" phase, I could handle it without worry.

As for the shape of the plug, I normally have rounded plugs or tapered plugs. This is my first serious bumped plug - previously, I used these bumps for fun thrusting. I did find the same thing fun on this plug - thrusting in and out, from the smaller tip to the larger bulge without inserting it all the way. At first, this was the only way I used the toy. As I got used to it, I started using the first large bump as a "rest area" where I can stop and rest...not lose all the ground and progress. Honestly, I couldn't care one way or the other for this feature. It's kind of nice, but doesn't do all that much to assist in insertion. For thrusting, the bump is great.

The biggest bulge, the second one, is the killer. I had to practice for about two weeks, every day, before I could get it to insert all the way. This is by no means something I can pop in during five minutes on a break from work - I have to really enjoy, participate, and work this plug in.

Performance

Tantus has almost always delivered for me - and just like the Ryder, this plug is real high quality. I was looking for a larger plug that I could potentially wear for hours at a time, and yes, I did get one. I can't handle all this plug has to offer yet, but wow, is the experience fun!

Care and Maintenance

Silicone is easy - I wash mine in soap and water after every use. As long as you don't use silicone lube, you'll be fine. To sterilize, I boil in the microwave with plenty of water, or use a 10% bleach solution and soak/wipe it down. The bacteria can only survive on the surface, and those methods are great at getting the toy totally sterile.

Some people have mentioned keeping it away from other silicone toys - maybe this is the case with cheaper ones, so call me reckless, but I've never had any problems with my Tantus plugs combining or melting into each other.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

Same as any other Tantus product - no nonsense. No crummy naked lady marketing schemes. A high quality product that speaks for itself shows through the clear plastic packaging, and with clearly labeled features about Tantus silicone.

    • Very informative

Experience

OOF! This plug still kicks my...butt. I'm working on it, and it's getting more fun and easier to insert - and this is one toy I can say, just like the Ryder, I'm going to be happy with for a long, long time.
Follow-up commentary
Wow, still great - and it uh, kicks my ass. I haven't played as much lately as I did previously, so this one got very hard to work with, but that makes it incredibly rewarding to play with when I can manage it.

Thanks for the review, it's great! Looks like a very fun toy.

You are correct that high quality silicone does not need to be kept separate from other high quality silicone. However, you should keep it away from any silicone composites, as the chemicals in those will attempt to bond with pure silicone toys. Great review!

The Severin M does take some work to get in, doesn't it. Nice plug when in, though, with a comfy base and neck. Definitely gives new meaning to the phrase "over the hump", and I shudder to imagine what the large is like.

Wow, this looks like a lot of fun.

This is a bit intimidating to me, but I think my husband would be able to work up to taking this since he is into prostate stimulation. The girth should be very stimulating!

Okay - it's over 2 months later and I STILL can't use this thing. Just too darn big for me right now.
