You Should've Entered My Butt A LONG Time Ago

The Tantus Ryder plug should have entered my butt a long time ago! It is near perfection. The Ryder is great for the intermediate user and can be used by the advanced user as warm up. It is comfortable to insert and wear for longer periods of time. I absolutely love this plug! I wish I had tried its unique rounded shape sooner!

Use

The Ryder butt plug is nearly perfect for me. From its easy to insert shape, gorgeous color, wonderful material and density, to its slim neck and flexible base, it has all the right parts of a great anal plug. The size won't fill the advanced anal player but it is perfectly suited for the intermediate and is even a good plug to work up to if you are a beginner. It stays put during sex and is good for longer term wear. Every good has its ending point though and for me the base eventually became irritating enough that I had to remove it. Regardless, I enjoy this plug more than many and it is a great way to warm up for larger toys or anal sex.

Material / Texture

Tantus has some of the best silicone out there. They call it 100% ultra platinum silicone and I can see why. It is completely non-porous, has no smell, hypo-allergenic, phthalates and latex free. The silicone is semi-plush but yet firm when squeezed which makes it great as a butt plug material. The thinner areas of the plug, the stem, and the base are much more flexible which also makes the plug more comfortable to wear. The surface is smooth, but it has a lot of drag so anal lubricant is a must.

Design / Shape / Size

The bulb of the rider is the about 3" long and at the largest part, 5" in circumference. The stem is about 2 3/4" around which makes it nestle nicely. The base is small also and is flexible. It fits between the cheeks for easy extended wear. What is unique about the Ryder is that the top of it is not the much smaller than the thickest part of its shape. The end is very rounded. Don't let this discourage you if you are a beginner. The material and shape combined make it very easy to insert. The size is great for warm up for larger toys. Advanced users will likely find the size short of filling. Regardless of your needs in size, there is one small flaw. The sides of base are unfinished which can cause irritation after a prolonged time.

Performance

I wasn't sure that the Ryder's shape would be good for me since I had not tried such a rounded plug before. I swear...I'm never going back! I found that insertion was easy with a little bit of lube in a squatted position. It took very little relaxation and was completely painless. Sometimes the anal sphincters will have normal reaction and start to tighten which can cause pain. But with the Ryder I had none of this. It felt amazing going in and the sweet feeling of the muscles accepting the plug was very rewarding. I also usually have to relax after insertion before I can move. This can take 5 seconds to a minute depending on how large the plug is and how relaxed I was to begin with. With the Ryder, I stood up immediately and was able to walk around.

I used another toy to finish and liked applying pressure on the plug in the process. For me there seemed to be no risk of the soft base getting pulled inside my body. I felt completely safe using this toy in various positions, including sitting down. Even after finishing twice, I just didn't want to remove the sucker! I ended up doing mundane tasks around the house for almost an hour with it in. I have never worn a plug that long or even wanted to really. Even though there came a point, where I no longer felt full and almost could not feel the plug anymore, my vagina let me know I was still having pleasure. I was very highly lubricated and after removing the plug (which was also easy and painless by the way), I was ready for a larger toy or anal sex. This plug is win almost all the way around. The chaffing occurs after an extended time, usually an hour at which point I remove the plug. Even with this small draw back, this plug is an A-lister in my opinion.

Care and Maintenance

Since this is solid silicone it is easy to sterilize. You can boil it, bleach it in a 10% bleach solution, or put it in the dishwasher. It can also be cleaned with hot water and soap. The material does retain smells slightly so you may want to use a fragranced soap. If you don't want to keep it in the plastic box it comes in, I would make sure to rinse it before use since it collects dust. When choosing lubricants, don't use a silicone lubricant since it will destroy the beautiful plug.

Follow-up commentary
I'm still kicking myself in the butt for not trying this sooner! The Ryder has single handedly gotten me back into regular anal play. I have really slowed down for a while because of a few reasons and when those reasons were gone, I just didn't get back into it. But this butt plug makes me want to play with my ass every damn day! It's the only plug I wear for extended periods of time and the small amount of chaffing at the end is totally worth it! It is also soft enough to have sex with as well, but I have to be REALLY aroused otherwise my partner can't even get his head in.

  • Can we get more toys in Copper?
    • The Ryder in Copper is so pretty. I'd love to see more toys offered in this colour. :) Is that likely to happen at all? I haven't seen it on any other listing. Is this colour discontinued?

Yes, it sure has been discontinued. It was weird - Copper was a slow seller, and we got some feedback from retailers that it wasn't at all popular. Then when we discontinued last Spring it got snapped up pretty quickly. I only have closeouts left, but we're hoping that by discontinuing Copper we'll have more time in the production schedule to pursue other colors.
    • Glow in the dark? That's my favorite color! Maybe something black light reactive?

  • Why should you never use silicone on a silicone toy?
    • Why should you never use silicone on a silicone toy?
    • Some, not all silicone lube will 'stick' to silicone material. I have read that some premium silicone lubes will work with some premium silicone materials. You can try some on the base and see, when I last tried it kinda etched the silicone material. (does that make sense) It left a indentation were the lube was.

That's the basics, Some of the other members can give a more technical answer.
    • Some silicone lubes will bond to some silicones. This seems to be more of an issue the softer the silicone is, so toys like O2 and VixSkin will be more susceptible (makes sense, as the silicone has fewer crosslinks). Quality lubes seem to have less of a problem also, and it is likely that cheaper silicones might have more of a problem.

I have tested quality silicone lube on several quality silicone toys and did not notice a permanent problem, but (a) the toys developed "hives" that lasted for a few hours (was gone the next day) and (b) it's really hard to clean the silicone lube off of the toys, but it can be done. While this is purely subjective, but it seemed that the silicone lube wasn't as "lubey" on silicone toys. I don't use silicone lube on silicone toys anymore - it's just not worth the trouble.

  • Is this going to be in stock soon?
    • If you haven't noticed, I've been going over my wishlist (see the O2 discussion) and I've noticed that this plug that I've wanted forever isn't even in stock. Will it be restocked?
    • That's funny. Two of the toys that I want to purchase are out of stock as well. The Vixen Ryder and Johnny. Then I noticed that several Vixen products are out of stock at the moment. I wonder when all of these toys will be restocked.
