A Pretty (but Boring) Blossom
The Blossom G by SSA Glass is a gorgeous hand-crafted dildo that you'll want to display on your mantle. And for experienced glass toy users, that's all you may want to do with it. Beginners will like the smooth texture and non-threatening size; advanced users and G-spot enthusiasts will probably want to look elsewhere.Published: November 12, 2011
Pros:
Very pretty
Good for beginners
Glass!

Cons:
Too thin for some
Curve is not pronounced enough to be effective
Flaws in the craftsmanship

The Blossom G landed in my possession back when Eden Fantasys was having their 70% clearance sale. At under $17, I couldn't resist the allure of this gorgeous toy. The red ribbons and embedded blossom just looked too pretty to pass up. So, I gave it a go. And I soon found out that this gorgeous dildo would make for a better display piece than an actual sex toy (for one who is well accustomed to glass toys, anyway).
The Blossom G is a hand-crafted Pyrex glass dildo. Glass is one of the most revered materials in the field of toys because of how versatile and safe it is. Glass is nonporous and has no taste or odor. It's compatible with all types of lube, and completely waterproof. Use it anywhere, even in the shower (just be mindful that it gets slippery in soapy hands). It can be sterilized in boiling water, with a diluted (10%) bleach solution and tossed into the dishwasher. Regular antibacterial soap or toy cleaner and some warm water also work very well for routine cleaning. The Blossom G is also content to be wiped down with a toy wipe after a solo session. The Blossom G also makes a very good toy for temperature play-running it under warm or cool water will have your desired effect. Storing this toy is easy, as long as you put it in a padded pouch (which this toy does not come with, sadly).
The Blossom G is 9 inches long in total length, with an insertable length of 7.5 inches. It's 4.5 inches in circumference and 1 3/8 inches in diameter. The length of it should be long enough for most people to reach their G-spot. The girth is perfect for those who are beginners to glass or sex toys in general, or for those who don't like thick toys. I found this dildo to be on the thin side.
A very important note: this toy is NOT anal safe! There's no flared base, so this toy could easily slip inside your anus and get lost inside. If you really, really want to use it anally, keep a STRONG grip on the shaft. But I highly, highly advise against using it for anal-related pleasure. Also, if you want to share this, use a condom. Glass can be sterilized, but it's still a lot safer to cover any shared toys (especially if the one you're sharing it with wants to use it anally).
Also very important: glass is unyielding. There's no give to this toy, or any other toy made of glass. Take care not to thrust vigorously with this dildo or you will end up with a very painful, bruised cervix. I wouldn't advise having a partner use this on you. If you do, be very communicative about any discomfort you feel.
If you properly care for this toy, it should last you a lifetime. But the question for me is, do I want to keep it for that long?
Don't get me wrong: it's the prettiest glass dildo I own. I spent a good ten minutes just fawning over it when I took it out of it's bubble-wrap packaging. However, in the performance department, I just found it to be lackluster. I'm a person who likes a lot of texture on glass toys, and so I could not feel the blue ribs along the shaft at all. The slight G-spot curve was okay-it did hit my G-spot so long as I was aroused. The bulb on the other end hit the G-spot as well. But, it's not the type of drastic curve that will produce earth-shattering, squirting wet orgasms (at least for me).
Also, there are some flaws in this dildo. There are lots of tiny air bubbles around the flower. While this may not be a flaw, I felt like the red swirly ribbons were also painted on, instead of embedded within the glass (at least that's how the felt). In the picture on the EF website, they look like they're actually part of the glass itself, not something you feel. It's not a huge bother to me; I couldn't feel the swirls during actual use. It was a just a bit of a let down.
SSA glass provides a cute red velvet pouch to store it in. This is fine so long as you aren't traveling anywhere, but I really wish they would have provided a padded pouch (like Don Wands does for their glass dildos). Also, you have to tie your own knot to keep the pouch fully closed. To most people, this isn't a bother; however, I have some slight fine motor skill issues, so tying knots on that type of string is difficult for me.

Experience
The best way for me to feel decent G-spot stimulation from this toy is for me to lay on my back with my knees pulled up to my chest. With one hand, I rock the dildo in and out slowly while pressing upwards with a good amount of pressure. I use my other hand to rub my clit or hold a bullet on my clit. This gets me off most every time, and the orgasms are decent. However, they're nothing worth raving about. I really thought this would be a dildo I'd be excited to use again and again. Unfortunately, that's not the case; I only pull my Blossom G out if I'm feeling up for something different.
Follow-up commentary
1 month after original review
Although the Blossom G doesn't see much action in my bed anymore, I still adore it for its beauty. It's still the prettiest dildo that I own and I actually wish I could display it. I'll pull this out every once in a while, but my other glass dildos do a better job of hitting my g-spot.

How are glass dildos so inexpensive?
-
For blown (no pun intended) glass, I feel like they would be more expensive! I guess they're not done by hand (more puns!)

Quote: For blown (no pun intended) glass, I feel like they would be more expensive! I guess they're not done by hand (more puns!)That one to me seems reasonable, but I have see some glass dildos that are just outrageously over-priced. It's just glass, it's sand melted down, I'm pretty sure sand is cheap and easy to get, it's not like our coastlines are covered in it or anything. But I have to remember how much work is put into "hand crafting" some of these I guess. Also with the designs throughout the more elegant dildos. Okay my rant is over with, that Blossom G does look nice for the price though :)

Where did all of the SSA Glass products go?
-
I have been waiting for quite some time now for some SSA Glass products to come back in stock but its been months and still nothing. I desperately want the Blossom G in particular because it is an amazingly beautiful glass dildo. Is something wrong? Why aren't they being restocked? :(

Do All Glass Dildos Come With Pouches?
-
I'm wondering, because every time I look at a product (glass dildos) I see one lying on a black/purple pouch. Do the ones with a pouch featured in the pictures come with one really?
-
I've gotten a bunch of them with pouches, and one or two that haven't come with them.
I doubt that they'll show a pouch in a photo if it doesn't come included with the toy! -
