Flower Power

The Blossom G is the prettiest dildo in my rather excessive stash, and it performs very well for a variety of functions, particularly when deeper penetration is desired.

Use

The Blossom G from SSA Glass is an exceptionally pretty glass dildo that combines a slightly above average length with a relatively narrow diameter. It's best use is the stimulation of deeper erogenous zones in the female-bodied individual. It also works as a thrusting toy, and can be used for g-spot stimulation by those who require only a slight curve in a g-spotting toy.

Glass dildos work quite well for temperature play, and can be used solo or by couples, although due to the firmness of the material, vigorous thrusting by a partner could result in a bruised cervix, so gentle play is recommended until both partners are familiar with the toy.

Since it lacks a true flared based, the Blossom G is not a particularly safe choice for anal play.

Material / Texture

Glass is a fantastic material for sex toys, as it's a top choice for safety. Phthalates free, latex free, non-porous, odorless, and easy to sterilize, glass is a body friendly material that should last a lifetime. Pyrex glass will not shatter in the event of a tragedy, but instead will break into chunks, and then only if dropped on a hard surface at just the right angle. The human body is not strong enough to break a glass toy during play.

Since glass is firm and unforgiving, caution should be exercised when thrusting, especially when getting to know a new toy. Since the Blossom G is slightly longer than many other glass toys, it's especially important to use care the first time.

The Blossom G features a mild texture on the top surface of the shaft, which functions more to help guide the toy while in use than to add additional stimulation. They can be felt internally, but not prominently.
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all
    • Rigid

Design / Shape / Size

The Blossom G varies in diameter from slightly under an inch at the narrowest point, to under an inch and a half at the widest point of the larger head. This makes it an excellent choice for beginners, while the eight inches of length make it a slightly long toy, although not excessively so.

Those looking for a pretty toy will fall in love with the Blossom G, which features a decorative flower in each of the two heads, and an appealing red swirl design within the shaft. Bolder toy owners may even wish to display it as art, although the phallic end will give away its true purpose.

For the purposes of discretion, you could employ a cover story about darning socks, and fool the more naive snoops in your life, and it's easy enough to hide away within the included velvety red bag. Travel with the Blossom G will depend upon the brazenness of the owner -- most baggage handlers will recognize it as a dildo, while the more obtuse could view it as a potential weapon.

Performance

In use, the Blossom G worked well for stimulating the deeper erogenous zones, such as the posterior fornix erogenous zone and even the cervix itself. For g-spot stimulation, the more phallic end has the same amount of curve as the Deep Water G -- an outstanding g-spot toy from the same manufacturer -- and yet the Blossom G was slightly more awkward to use for that purpose, due to the slight backward tilt of the rounded end.

Those who require a significant curve to locate their g-spot should look elsewhere. The Amethyst would be a fine choice.

For thrusting, the Blossom G worked quite well.
    • Easy to use
    • Lots of variety in function

Care and Maintenance

Glass is easy to clean in a variety of ways. For regular cleaning, it can be washed in hot soapy water, or with toy cleaner. Immediately before use, it can be wiped with a baby wipe, and if sterilization is necessary, it can be boiled, wiped down with a 10% bleach solution, or run through the top rack of the dishwasher, sans detergent. While Pyrex glass will of course tolerate dish soap quite well, it's not a substance your body will appreciate. Always be sure to rinse any cleaning agents thoroughly to avoid irritation.

The Blossom G comes with a separator bag, and can be stored anywhere, so long as it's not allowed to clank against other glass or metal toys. Always inspect your glass toys immediately before use, lest they crack or chip, because while such an event is rare, safety is paramount.

All lubricants are safe to use with glass toys.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

Like all SSA Glass toys, the Blossom G comes wrapped in a layer of bubble wrap, inside a red velvety storage bag. It makes a nice presentation for gift-giving between intimates, and is useful for storage purposes. Even if you choose to use a more padded bag for your glass toy, the separator bag will come in handy for silicone toys.

As for recycling, the bubblewrap happens to be the perfect size for mailing CDs, or packing away small figurines, so don't send it off to the landfill.

Personal comments

The Blossom G is a very pretty glass toy, and it's quite functional, but since I purchased eight glass dildos from SSA Glass, I find that it is outperformed by several of its sisters. It's good for g-spot stimulation, but not quite as good as the Deep Water G or the Amethyst. It's quite good for deeper penetration, yet not quite as good as the Cyclone Wand. It doesn't shine at anal play, like the Gold Laced G or the Emerald Explorer. It's not ideally suited to external stimulation, like the Amber Wave. And it doesn't stand out texture-wise like the Bumpy Spiral Double.

I think where it would excel is for partner play, with the appropriate precautions, because it's gorgeous, and it would probably look really hot in use. However, as a single basement-dwelling trekkie geek, I'm afraid I can't offer a performance review from that angle.
Follow-up commentary
While I probably prefer the Deep Water G, this toy still sees regular use, as both ends provide an excellent g-spot massage. It's also one of my prettiest toys.

Being glass, this toy is still in pristine condition, and I hope to own it for many years to come.

Definitely still recommended.
