Baby Dildo

This item is worth getting if you find sex painful and uncomfortable. The Silk series can be used to work your way up. However if you don't have any issues with pain or tightness and you're not looking to use this dildo anally I suggest you look elsewhere. I'm giving the Small Silk three stars because it has no firmness whatsoever, making it insubstantial. I don't hold its small size against it. It is called the SMALL Silk after all.

Pros:
Small, easy to clean, useful as a dilator
Cons:
Not firm enough, flimsy, may be too small for some

Use

I think the Small Silk is best used as a dilator for women with vaginismus. It's a good dildo for women intimidated by size, beginners, or those wanting to dabble in anal play. If you have never experimented with sex toys and would like to, the Small Silk may be a good place to start.

Material / Texture

This toy is made out of 100% medical grade silicone. When it comes to safety the small silk is non-porous, hypo-allergenic, phthalates free, and latex free. It's smooth without any texture. The Small Silk is extremely soft to the touch. If you were to slide it on the back of your hand you would feel a very slight drag, but it isn't a drag you would notice or feel vaginally. I would describe it as soft, squishy and bendable.

Design / Shape / Size

One of the things that appealed to me was the design. It isn't realistic looking. Personally I find realistic dildos a bit creepy. The non-realistic shape and size of the Small Silk makes it more inviting for those who are intimidated by huge, monster sized cocks. The Small Silk is just what it says it is-- small. And I mean small. It is 4 1/2 inches long (3 3/4 inches of that being insertable) with a circumference of 3 inches. I think the average user will be disappointed with this size for vaginal play. It would probably be a good toy for anal beginners. I have not used this anally and I don't plan on it. However, if I were to change my mind and decide to experiment with anal play this would be the toy I'd go for.

This toy is suitable for travel. It isn't discreet. It's obviously a dildo, but the small size makes it easy to pack or hide.

Performance

The best thing about this toy is the size. Like I said earlier, because of its small size it is great for women suffering from vaginismus. The fact that the Small Silk is small means it isn't overwhelming, intimidating or scary. It's best for beginners, those who have issues with vaginal tightness, or as a toy to be used anally.
What I don't like about the Small Silk is that it isn't firm at all. It's basically like a bigger, fatter, super soft, squishy, boneless finger. This means that you hardly feel pressure or sensation. Some may not even feel is inside their vagina. It is too flexible. Because the toy is so small it should be firmer, but it isn't. If you don't have issues with vaginal tightness then I believe you will find this dildo to be lacking. It's a baby dildo. If you don't need a baby dildo to work on loosening and relaxing your vagina and if you don't intend to use this toy anally, then you will find yourself disappointed with the Small Silk.
    • Easy to use
    • Weak

Care and Maintenance

The Small Silk is easy to clean. It is boilable and bleachable. I used antibacterial soap and water. I wouldn't describe this toy as high maintenance, but it can and will collect lint. I store it in a zip lock sandwich bag to keep it clean and lint free. This toy can only be used with a water based lube because it is 100% premium silicone.
For your health and safety you should use a condom when sharing. You should not go right from anal to vaginal without disinfecting the toy first.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The Small Silk was packaged in a clear plastic, recyclable box. Information about the product is printed on the packaging. I have no complaints about the packaging, but it isn't a gift or storage box. I suppose you could store it in the packaging if it doesn't get much use and you don't care who sees it.

Personal comments

The Small Silk and the Compact (both made by Tantus) are the first dildos I bought. I bought the Compact along with the Small Silk because they were the same dimensions, only the compact had slight texture. Since I had never purchased anything like this before I was concerned about size so I thought they were good choices. I wasn't sure if texture was my preference or not, so I thought I'd try them both.

Experience

My experience with the Small Silk taught me I was ready and able to move on to bigger and firmer toys. The Small Silk is lacking in firmness which I feel is needed, especially because its small size. The fact that it was soft wasn't the problem. The problem is that the Small Silk is too soft. I felt like it was more of a dilator than an object of pleasure. The sensations were slim to none. I prefer the Compact. Although they are both the same in size the Compact has the right amount of firmness to add sensation making it a much more pleasurable experience.
Follow-up commentary
I don't use this dildo because it does nothing for me. It's too thin and flexible for my liking. This dildo is probably too small to please most women vaginally. I'd look elsewhere unless you're looking to begin experimenting anally.

Your take on this definitely stands out. I have never read of anyone using a toy to help with vaginismus - very interesting angle. I was looking to try this anally but with how soft it sounds, maybe not.

  • Small Silk w/ Spareparts Theo
    • Has anybody tried the silk with a Theo? I'm concerned about whether or not the base will fit in the "ring" on the harness.

if your Theo has the ability you may need to change o-rings. the circumfrance of the small silk is 2 1/2 inches

  • Small silk as a beginner anal toy
    • Kval
Hello! I am looking for advice. I'm introducing my wife to anal, but she is a little uncomfortable and concerned about pain. Will Small silk be ok to start practicing anal, or should I go with smth smaller/bigger?

Hi Kval! I think Silk is a wonderful toy for an anal novice. I've used this toy on a couple of anal beginners...it's very good because it's small and very smooth. You should not look for something bigger, she can only move up to a larger toy once she learns to relax the muscles with a smaller one. Good luck!
    • You can always go smaller, with beads, etc. DON'T go bigger, especially if she's apprehensive about it! Start with a finger or two before you buy a toy. If she's not ok with that, then it is silly to waste your money.

And PLEASE remember, Lube is your friend. Use lots of it. When you think you have enough, use some more! Thicker stuff, like Maximus, is really good in these situations.
