Smooth Criminal

The Small Silk is a wonderful toy. It's nonthreatening, smooth, and squishy, making it great for those who are new to anal or vaginal penetration. Though it is a very nice toy (my first, but certainly not last, Tantus product), the petite stature leaves much to be desired if you are one who enjoys a longer toy with some girth. If that's you, try the medium or large Silk. To those who don't like/need a large toy, you should definitely put this one on your wishlist.

Use

This is the smallest version of Tantus' luscious Silk dildos. It has a flared base, so it can be used anally and/or with a harness, as well as vaginally, which is how I use it. Although it doesn't have a hole in the base for a bullet, like some of Tantus' other toys, it can be used with a vibrator for dual stimulation or used as a vibrator by holding a bullet to the base of the shaft. The density of this toy carries the vibrations all throughout the toy quite nicely. Though the vibrations might be muted and may not be strong enough for some, it still adds a very nice sensation.

Material / Texture

The Silk is smooth as, well, silk. And seamless to boot. It's made from Tantus' amazing, unique blend of silicone, which is known to collect dust and hair like crazy. It is 100% body safe, non-porous, hypoallergenic, and Latex free. There are no bumps or ridges on this toy. It's a smooth ride all the way.

What I love about Tantus toys is the soft, squishy outside and dense core. It is rather flexible (you can bend it in half with ease) and it will conform to your body quite nicely. When I first got this toy, I was afraid the material was a bit too floppy and that it might be somewhat difficult to insert, but it's not. The density of the core allows it to be easily inserted.

Design / Shape / Size

For any size queens out there, I suggest you look elsewhere. This non-realistic toy stands at a whopping 4.5 inches (3.75 of that being insertable), and is only 3 inches around. As nice as the Silk is, it doesn't give you that feeling of fullness. I think it's a nice toy for what it is, but I would probably go for the medium silk if you enjoy more length and a reasonable girth.

The body has a slight curve, making it really nice for light G-spot stimulation. But due to it's flexibility, you can't put too much pressure on your spot, if you felt so inclined.

The flared base is wonderful for harness or anal play (though I have tried neither), but it's not very easy to hold on to while thrusting.

I don't think you could call this toy "discreet", but it's small size is nice for travel. You can fit it into a small ziploc bag easily and toss it into your purse or luggage.

Performance

The best thing about the silk is the feel of the beloved Tantus silicone. It's squishiness and density make it feel pretty close to the real thing, in that aspect, though not as much as VixSkin. It really is a smooth ride, but I think it's a little too smooth. I prefer more drag. But that aside, it really is great. Apart from my being impartial to the smoothness, there's really nothing bad about the Silk, unless you have ideas of grandeur in its size.

Care and Maintenance

Cleaning for this toy is incredibly easy. It's my second favorite thing about it. The Silk is bleachable, dishwasher safe (top rack only, please), and can be boiled for about 3 minutes. A precaution: This toy should not be boiled after every use. This could compromise the toy's shape, and we don't want that, do we? So unless you are sharing this or switching between orifices (don't forget to sterilize thoroughly between the alternations), you don't really need to completely sterilize this toy. A bath in warm or hot water and some mild soap is all you really need to keep this toy clean.

As we all know, silicone attracts hair, lint, and dust like crazy. So be sure to rinse off your toy before each use.

Always remember that silicone toys cannot be used with silicone-based lubricants. Combining the two can cause a chemical reaction. Use water-based lubes only, unless you want to ruin your beautiful toy. And I KNOW you don't want to do that!

This toy is, although petite in size, one of my favorite dildos. In fact, I prefer it to my larger toys sometimes. It's so well-made and it feels great. You gotta love it. Thanks, Tantus. You guys are amazing.

The Silk does indeed look nice, but as you mentioned, it does lack girth... that alone would probably have me losing interest quickly, lol. Thank you for the great review!

I didn't know that boiling could cause silicone toys to lose their shape! That scares me because I boil our silicone toys every single time they are used anally (though we don't use the same toys daily).

      if your Theo has the ability you may need to change o-rings. the circumfrance of the small silk is 2 1/2 inches

      Hi Kval! I think Silk is a wonderful toy for an anal novice. I've used this toy on a couple of anal beginners...it's very good because it's small and very smooth. You should not look for something bigger, she can only move up to a larger toy once she learns to relax the muscles with a smaller one. Good luck!
    • You can always go smaller, with beads, etc. DON'T go bigger, especially if she's apprehensive about it! Start with a finger or two before you buy a toy. If she's not ok with that, then it is silly to waste your money.

      And PLEASE remember, Lube is your friend. Use lots of it. When you think you have enough, use some more! Thicker stuff, like Maximus, is really good in these situations.
