Still Waiting For the Encore

The Opus is a uniquely designed vibrator that can be used simply for G-spot stimulation, or simultaneous stimulation of the G-spot and clitoris. The shaft is quite long, so it will not work for all anatomy types. The Opus also comes with a bunch of thoughtful goodies to enhance your experience with your new toy.

Use

The Opus from Close2You is a neatly designed vibrator that can give you dual stimulation. However, I don’t believe it is suitable for all body types. The shaft is pretty long, so getting clitoral stimulation can be a little difficult.

You could use the Opus anally, however use caution when switching orifices. I would recommend using a condom on it if you plan on using it anally. If you find you don’t like it anally, you won’t have to go through the process of sterilizing it if you have a condom on it, and you can take it off to use vaginally without having to worry about bacteria or getting an infection.

Supposedly the Opus is waterproof, but the battery compartment requires only a tiny twist to close it. After cleaning it, I noticed it didn’t take much for some moisture to get inside, so I don’t believe it is fully waterproof.

Material / Texture

The Opus is made of 100 per cent medical grade silicone, so it is non-porous, and completely body safe. For this reason, it ranks a 10 on Eden’s safety scale. The material is very smooth. It has a lot of drag, so it will pick up any dust, lint, or pet hair it comes into contact with. There is a seam that runs along the entire length of the toy, however it can’t be felt during use. The Close2You logo is located under the battery cap, and is slightly raised.

Design / Shape / Size

Opus means a creative work of art which is a great name for a toy designed like this. It is not large and clunky like rabbit vibrators, and you can still get dual stimulation if this toy fits your body type. The shaft is flexible, so it may not give some people the firm pressure they need.

The motor is located just below the control buttons, so it’s not going to provide a lot of internal stimulation. The vibrations don’t carry down the shaft that well. They can still be felt, but are significantly weaker.

The Opus is 12” in length, with an insertable length of 5 ½”. The product page lists the Opus as having a circumference of 5”, but that refers to the girth around the battery compartment. The insertable part has a circumference of 3 ½”, so it will not provide that full feeling some women crave.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Opus is operated by two buttons. One is strictly an on/off button which is really handy if you have children or live with roommates. The other button cycles through the different patterns. If you skipped your favourite pattern, you have to cycle through all the modes because there is no back button.

There are a variety of vibrational patterns that make this toy a pleasure to use. The first three are just steady vibrations that increase with each press of the button. Then the following five patterns are where things get interesting:
4. Escalation;
5. Slow pulsation;
6. Three short pulses that increase in intensity, followed by three high short pulses;
7. Rapid pulsations that go up and down five times (Kind of like a siren), followed by a longer pulse;
8. Long pulse, followed by a medium pulse, followed by 4 short pulses, all on the highest vibration intensity.

The vibrations are buzzy which can make some people feel numb instead of deeply stimulated. However, they do not diminish when the toy is pressed up against you. The vibrator is a little noisy, so it could possibly be heard through a closed door if you don’t have the TV or radio on.

It runs on two AAA batteries which are included, so the Opus is ready to go as soon as it arrives. The Opus is great because it doesn’t drain the batteries very quickly, so you can get multiple uses out of each set. I find that sometimes the Opus doesn’t turn on, so I have to readjust the battery cap to make sure it is nice and snug, and it will operate just fine.

Care and Maintenance

Since the Opus attracts lint and hair like crazy, it is wise to wash it before and after each use. You can gently rinse it with warm water and antibacterial soap, or your favorite toy cleaner. You can sterilize it with a 10 per cent bleach solution, but do not boil it.

Only use water based lubricant with the Opus because silicone lubricants can deteriorate the silicone coating of the toy over time. Store the Opus in the box or storage bag that it came with so it won’t get covered in ust.

Packaging

The packaging for the Opus was wonderful, I was extremely impressed. The box features a couple, with the man reaching around the woman with the Opus. Not very discreet, however it is a nice display. It would be a nice gift for a partner, but not the greatest idea for a bridal shower or anything like that.

The box is very sturdy, and suitable for storage, but the Opus also comes with a velvet storage bag with a drawstring closure. It is large enough to hold the Opus, and some batteries if you wanted, making it travel friendly.

The box has two drawers. The top drawer just contains the Opus, and the bottom drawer contains all the goodies. The bottom drawer has the user guide, storage pouch, sample tube of Glissando lubricant, toy wipe, silicone cock ring, and two AAA batteries. The lubricant is water based, so it is compatible with all materials. It can be resealed, and contains enough fluid to be used a few times.

Experience

While I find it difficult to get dual stimulation from this vibe, it still makes for a great G-spot toy. The girth isn’t at all overwhelming, and the upward curved head provides enough stimulation to zero in on that sweet spot. I like that the base of the toy curves upwards, making it much easier to hold, so I can just lay back and enjoy the experience. Toys that just stick straight out can get quite tiresome, especially if you are like me and like to use a lot of motion, but have short arms. The curved up base allows me to get a good grip on the Opus without having to contort my body into awkward and uncomfortable positions.

I much prefer the G-Ki only because the shaft is a little shorter, and doesn’t jab me if I use it for clitoral stimulation as well. Both are very similar in design, and have almost the same vibration strength. I usually have to use a bullet or other small vibrator on my clitoris while using the Opus to get enough stimulation that I need. However, using the Opus on its own may be enough for some people. I believe this toy is more for the experienced user, only because you really have to be familiar with your body to know if this vibrator will work for you.
Follow-up commentary
I ended up giving this to a friend, so hopefully she enjoys it more than I did. It works a lot like the G-Ki, and the G-Ki works for me much better, and this just wasn't getting any use. This will definitely not be my last Close2You toy though.

Thanks for all the comments.
@Ryuson I think this is one of their older toys, but I'm sure they improved a lot. I'll have to check out another one of their newer toys.

Thanks for the great review, that was really helpful. I was hoping there was more vibration toward the end of the shaft for internal stimulation, so I suppose this toy isn't for me after all.

That's a shame that it isn't necessarily as waterproof as it claims, and that it didn't work out for you in the end. Hope your friend gets some enjoyment out of it, at least.

  • The Opus - what kind of batteries does it actually take?
    • I was wondering Does it take AA? or AAA? Eden says it's AA but a reviewer said AAA, so which is it?
    • It uses 2 AAA batteries, which do come with the Opus. Of course you will need to buy more for later.

  • Is it worth it?
    • Can anyone tell me if they've have experience with this toy? Is it nice? Worth it? Easy to use and clean? Good general reach for most different body types.
    • I don't have this toy, but I've read reviews on it because I was looking for something to use during intercourse.

      I mean, it is a nice toy! It is made of silicone, it is made by the people who make the Harmonia and the Sinfonia.

      The reason I didn't purchase it was because the reviews up for it couldn't seem to come to an answer about the vibration intensity. Two reviews marked it as 3, with cons being that it might not be strong enough for some users... While the descriptive review rated it a 4/5. And another review marked it as 5/5.
      I am somewhat of a power queen, so I decided I'd rather steer clear of it until it had more reviews (so I could get a better idea of power).

      I think it's probably easy to clean, because of the silicone.
