(Acai/Goji Berry) Time To Exfoliate!

The body polish from Dona is a great way to exfoliate your skin. I really like the ricey/grainy textures of these scrubs. It's abrasize but not too abrasive if that makes sense. I also really enjoy the scents. Goji berry and acai both smelled fresh and clean. I would definitely purchase these scrubs again in the future. I think for the amount of product you get (large tubs!) it's definitely worth it for the price.

Use

Body Polish is like a body scrub. A body scrub can be made out of salts, sugar, and even tiny seeds or crushed walnut shells. The purpose of a body scrub is to slough off rough, dry, dead skin and reveal the baby soft skin underneath. With regular use, a body scrub will make your skin look brighter, healthier, and overall better. If you want soft skin it's best to exfoliate at least a couple times a week followed up by a body lotion or a body butter to moisturize. If you take good care of your skin you'll definitely see and feel the results.

I'm not sure if a body polish is the same thing as a body scrub because to me they sound similar. I think a polish is like a scrub but maybe not as abrasize? I'm not entirely sure on this one. I do know that sloughing off the dull skin to reveal healthy glowy skin is definitely a good reason to be using either one! These body polishes from Dona are part of a large collection of other body products. I ordered two body polishes at the same time so I'll review both here. I have Acai and Goji Berry.

These body polishes can be used by anyone that wants smoother skin but are best for adults only. Only use these body polishes on the body and don't use them on your face. If your skin breaks out, burns, or gets itchy for any reason stop use immidiately and rinse it off with cool water. I wouldn't recommend using these directly after shaving because it might burn or irritate the skin.

You can add a tub of body polish to a spa gift basket for someone special or just grab a tub or two for yourself for a night of pampering. The only thing to keep in mind about the Dona line is the strange exotic scents. It's best to read reviews first to make sure you'll choose the scents that you'll actually like!

Acai: The acai feels different from any other body scrub I've ever used before. It feels like tiny grains of half cooked rice/waxy tapioca pudding. When in use you can feel all the little grains exfoliating your skin but it's not what I expected. The ingredients do say it contains rice and you can definitely feel rice. The acai is a light yellowish color with tiny purple particles in it which I believe to be bits of acai fruit. The good thing about this scrub is that it sticks to the skin well. It works even better if you wet your skin a little first.

Goji Berry: The goji berry feels about the same in texture but slightly less abrasive. It feels like tiny grains of rice in a thick sherbet like base. It doesn't contain any little extra bits in it like the acai does. It feels about the same and the results are the same. This is by no means a wet drippy scrub. This stuff is very thick. You could literally scoop it into a ball with an ice scream scoop.

Taste / Aroma

Acai: Acai smells fresh and berry like (think dark berries.) It's not too sweet, not too sour, and not overpowering at all. It mostly smells fresh and light. If you prefer berry smells than this is the one for you.

Goji Berry: Goji berry smells entirely different. It smells like how it looks, a orange sherbert like tropical mix. It also smells very fresh and light. Think tropical fruit mixed and fluffy cotton pillows.

Overall, both of these body polishes smell nice and fresh! I like both of them.

Performance

When I first got these body polishes and checked them out I realized that they have a waxy/oily feeling. I wouldn't recommend using these in the shower in large amounts because the shower floor could get really slippery and dangerous. I'd recommend using the body polish in small amounts and then gently wiping it away with a warm wet wash cloth prior to rinsing.

When I use these body polishes I wet my skin first and then gently massage the scrub into my skin for a few minutes working my fingertips into the really dry areas. The body polish stays put and lathers up nicely. Then I take a wet wash cloth and gently wipe it off before giving my skin a quick rinse. There's a slightly oily feeling that lingers on the skin aftwards which I love because my skin is terribly dry. The scent also lingers but it's very light and can only be smelled up close. The scent only lasts for a little while.

After using the body polish I could feel that it restored that barrier in my skin to help seal in moisture and make my skin feel softer. I don't like that it makes the shower floor slippery so be careful of that. It's not sticky at all and rinses well although some of the little rice particles can linger around at the bottom of my shower. I have to rinse the tub really well when I use this product.

After rinsing my skin instantly felt a lot smoother and looked rosy and healthier. Aftwards I apply a moisturizer. My skin is typically dry and dull and this stuff works wonders for me! I love it!

Packaging

The body polish comes in a plastic tub with a sticker label. The lid is black and screws on and off. The tub holds a full 8oz. of product. This is step #2 (Cleanse) in the Dona ritual. The label says, "Let the goddess in you shine!" and "superfruit and aphrodisiac infused." The directions say to apply the body polish to a loofah or sponge and then apply to the body. I would much rather just use my hands or spa gloves. Trying to pick up the scrub on a loofah/sponge just isn't going to happen.

There's symbols on the side of the tub that claim that this product is natural, paraben free, petro. derivitive free, and cruelty free. There's nothing on the label that's sexual in any way besides the word "aphrodisiac." Even though the scents are different the labels look almost identical. This body polish isn't wet or messy at all so you could definitely travel with this as long as the lid is screwed on tightly.

Ingredients: sodium chloride, safflower oil, glycine soja wax, isopropyl myristate, modified corn starch, disodium lauryl sulfosuccinate, cetyl palmitate, sorbitan palmitate, sorbitan olivate, cetearyl olivate, vitamin e, grape seed, algae, passion fruit, rice, babassul, acai oils, luffa cylindrica, goji berry fruit, fragrance.

The ingredients list are the same except the goji berry contains "goji berry fruit" and the acai contains "acai berry fruit."
    • Recyclable
    • Very informative packaging
    • Would make a nice gift

Special Features

All the Dona products claim to be aphrodisiac infused. I do like the exotic fruit ingredients but I don't believe in the hype of aphrodisiacs personally. Pretty much if you smell good then your partner will be more attracted to you, simple as that.
