Scrub-A-Dub-Dub, Slick Up Your Tub

Those looking for a mild scrub that will leave your skin feeling smooth and soft may find what they are looking for in this product...if they can get past the smell! While the product was decent as a scrub (I prefer mine rougher, but appreciated the moisturizing properties of this one), I couldn't stand the smell and had a mild reaction to the scrub when I used it.

Use

Dona Body Polish by System JO is a bath product meant to exfoliate and smooth skin. It is suitable for all ages and genders, although not all scents in the line will appeal to everyone. This product is paraben- and cruelty-free, but I would still suggest those with sensitive skin steer clear.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

There was a fair bit of oil when I opened my container, but I was happy to find that the scrub in the bottom of the jar wasn't dried out, and the texture was consistent throughout the tub. It is far gentler than most scrubs I use, but was still very effective in removing dead skin.

You can see the texture of the scrub below; It is similar to very wet soft sand, and appears to have small pieces of orange rind or something similar in it.

I couldn't keep a lump larger than the one pictured above on my finger without it sliding off, as it is pretty oily (and a bit heavier than I'd expected as well). I suggest applying the scrub directly to a loofah or holding some in the palm of your hand and drawing it from there as needed.

Taste / Aroma

Unfortunately I don't really have many positive things to say about the scent of this product. While I didn't expect it to smell like pomegranate (the products in the Dona line are infused with the aphrodisiac listed on the label, and are scented/flavored with complementary flowers/fruits), I did expect something, well, pleasant.

I can't match the scrub's scent to anything I've ever smelled before. It is extremely strong, very bitter and mildly sweet, more floral than fruity.

This product is NOT meant to be ingested, so don't eat it! I can't imagine it would taste great either :P

Performance

This scrub isn't my favorite for a number of reasons. I tend to prefer very rough scrubs that get the job done quickly, while this one is pretty mild. However, even with its gentler texture I ended up getting a mild rash from it. This is not unusual for me as I sometimes have bad reactions to bath products, so don't worry about it unless you have sensitive skin yourself.

The high oil content in the scrub makes it very moisturizing, but will also slick up your tub if you use a large amount in one sitting. I needed to rinse off my skin to get rid of the oily residue, but soap wa not necessary.

I really enjoyed the moisturizing aspect of this scrub. Usually I come away from such products feeling exfoliated but also very dried out, and with this one I had to scrub a bit harder than usual but came away feeling like I'd just applied lotion! The scent was really the dealbreaker for me here; I couldn't stand it, and combined with the minor reaction I had it really was a letdown. I will consider trying other scents from this line in the future, but definitely not the pomegranate.

Packaging

Like all products in the Dona line, this scrub features pretty packaging with a classy black lace pattern printed onto a solid colored background. While it features the word "aphrodisiac" it is not particularly indiscreet, and you could simply wave that away as flowery marketing if anyone questions it.

I had no problems with the container leaking even with the high oil content, and it is marked on the bottom as being recyclable.

Sorry to hear you didn't like this. I thought it was OK but would prefer the scrubs with a more liquid texture than the thickness.

Looks like St Ives Apricot scrub but oilier. Thanks for the great review.

@married with children: Thanks so much! I enjoyed writing it

@Zombirella: The main turn-off for me was the awful smell! If not for that I'd probably have given it 4 stars.

@Airen Wolf: You're right! I haven't used St. Ives in years, what a throwback. You're welcome!

    @KrissyNovacaine: You're very welcome!

@mistre$$: Yeah, I wouldn't recommend it if you're on the sensitive side. Thanks for reading!
