(Camu Camu) Oily, greasy, gigantic granules, awful smell. No thanks!

I am incredibly unhappy with this scrub. I certainly did not feel polished after using it. I felt greasy, gross, and the granules were so large that I found them to be painful, despite not having at all sensitive skin. To top it all off, the camu camu scent smelled like rancid play-doh. Yum... I would absolutely not recommend this scrub to anyone.

Use

Dona body polish is intended to be used as a scrub for the skin, to scrub off dead skin and leave you feeling fresh. It is meant to be used in the shower or bath tub, as part of Dona's beauty and skincare routine. This product, unfortunately, did NOT do what it was intended to for me whatsoever.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This scrub is quite thick, and will not drip or move around when you put it somewhere. The concentration of the scrubbing granules is quite high, meaning lots and lots of granules to scrub your skin. Unfortunately, the granules are massive and on my skin, they felt really rough and harsh. My usual scrub has granules about the size of your average grain of sugar- enough to scrub, without hurting or scratching. These were far, far larger and felt far too harsh on my skin.

Taste / Aroma

I ordered this in Camu Camu, which I thought would be a bit floral, sort of warm and pleasant according to other reviews.

Not a chance.

This smelled sort of soapy right away, and as I smelled it more, it had a sort of plastic-y quality to it. Indeed, I find that this stuff smells strongly like play-doh. This is not a pleasant smell to me, but not only did it smell like play-doh, it also smelled a bit like play-doh that had managed to go bad. I did not appreciate the scent in the slightest, even though after using it, it did not linger on my skin long.

Performance

This did not live up to my expectations of a scrub.

It felt harsh and rough on my skin, instead of a gentle, pleasant scrub.

The oils and other ingredients in this scrub also left me feeling very oily. I had a thick, visible layer on my skin and needless to say, it was nasty. It actually took some scrubbing with soap and warm water to wash it all off. I am really glad I tried it on a small area first, as I can not imagine how nasty it would have felt if I had used it all over an arm or a leg right away!

Packaging

Dona Body Polish is packaged in a squat, wide-mouth plastic jar with a screw on lid. The packaging seems quite sturdy and it well labeled. It is fairly discreet, though it does mention "pheromones" on the packaging.
I did not experience any leakage or spilling because of the packaging.

Wow, I just reviewed this product in Pomegranate and the texture of the Camu Camu looks completely different! Had similar problems with the smell though (aka it was horrible). Sorry you had such a bad experience with this product

Yeah, reading other reviews before I bought this, I assumed it would be nice! I don't know whether there was just a bad batch or maybe they have poor quality control on this scrub. No fun, either way All the other stuff I have from Dona is awesome, though, so this is kinda confusing
