I'm Kissable!

You simply can't go past the Kissing Balm if you're looking for a natural high quality lip balm that actually works. It smells divine and has a slight sweet taste. It comes with a reasonably high price tag, but will last longer than most store bought balms. For me, it lasts four times longer than any Chap Stick.

SCENT ~ TEXTURE:

Kissing Balm is part of the Sensuous Beauty range and is made in the USA. It comes in two flavours/scents: Orange and the Honey Rose which is what I chose. The Honey Rose is a clear beige in colour and has a smooth slippery texture similar to Vaseline, only it's not quite so thick. Nor does it have the water resistance character, so if you happen to get any on your skin it can be rubbed in or off easily. This also means it's not going to stay on your lips quite as well as Vaseline, but it is all natural and won't cause any irritation. With saying that, it does last on my lips for over an hour. I reapply after an hour cause I like the moist lips appearance.
It has that natural beeswax aroma with a hint of sweet roses and a slight sweet taste, but not enough to make you want to eat it off your lips.
The balm goes on clear and creates a sexy shiny sheen as it softens the lips.

INGREDIENTS:

Sweet almond oil
Honey
Beeswax
Shea butter
Organic coconut oil
Alkanet-infused organic jojoba oil
Vegetable glycerine
Vitamin E
Organic Bulgarian roso otto

PACKAGING:

Mine arrived wrapped up in a clear plastic bag to prevent the lid unscrewing and getting over my other goodies. The balm comes in a petite .5 oz (14.2g) clear glass jar with a black plastic lid. Covering the glass part is a label with the product's name, scent, ingredients, directions and a small write up:
“Kissing Balm moisturizes and gives you sweet lips that taste like fresh flowers”.
The lid has a round sticker announcing the company's name, product name, sizings, company web address, location and phone number.
It's also tested on people, not animals.
Experience
EXPERIENCE:

I bought mine a year ago and use it regularly, especially when out and about cause it lives in my handbag. I have only used about 1/4 of the jar so far and I'm rather heavy handed. The back of my hand regularly gets a balm treatment with any extra. Granted, if I was applying it a few times every single day, I may only have ½ left. But even though the price is high for a small amount of lip balm, I feel it's more than worth it for the naturalness and getting a good 2 years out of a jar. That's good buying. Especially when I weigh up the cost of the Chap Stick types that aren't always natural, coming in at around AU$5 - $6 each and only lasting me about 6 months. I'm going to be getting a couple more so I don't have to worry about lip balm for the next number of years.
Even when my lips are peeling something shocking due to the harsh dry weather, within a couple of days of using this one regularly my lips are back in top kissing condition!

I love this stuff: 5 stars.
Follow-up commentary
I'm still in love with this balm. I haven't had or wanted to buy any other store lip balms since purchasing this one. Unfortunately it is coming to an end, so I made the mistake of buying the orange as a replacement.
I won't be touching that one again. Not only does the orange stink, but it tastes absolutely nasty!

So it's back to the honey rose and that's where I shall stay.

Just curious, since you said you use it on the back of your hand, does it start to feel sticky as it dries? I'm thinking my wintery hands might love this as a treat, but I don't want everything sticking to them. Thanks!

  • Price
    • Why is it so expensive? It looks like it'd feel great on my lips, especially with rose, but I don't know..
    • Usually, any explanation of price falls into two categories:

      1) The manufacturer put more money into the product (quality ingredients, extensive testing, etc.), and thus the price reflects that.

      2) The price is high because people will pay it (brand recognition; think "Apple"), regardless of the real quality.

      Take your pick.
    • It's got lots of ingredients and many of them are expensive (coconut and almond oils, etc) plus it's a luxury item.
