Use

On the market as a body and muscle massager, which it does do, it also has the ability to be the best vibrator you have ever used. With its incredible power and awesome tip getting a Hitachi Magic Wand to add to your collection is a must!

Now if you're like me and need a clit vibrator that is extremely powerful, then this wand is right for you Even I have to take a break at times because I become too sensitive from the intensity of the vibrations. If you are more sensitive, then using the lower setting is what I would recommend.

Aside from using it on your clit, my husband and I have found that when using it on the low setting, rubbing it across your nipples and thighs is a great way to get things heated up. To get us in the mood, we start out using the wand for sensual massages. It really works great for foreplay. Whether you want a toy for couples use or solo play, the Hitachi is a toy that will not disappoint!

Material / Texture

The Hitachi Magic Wand has a body that is made from a non-porous and phthalate-free plastic. Its body is smooth and can be easily held while being used.

The top of the wand is a ball shaped and has a bumpy, somewhat rough texture to it. It also is not as hard as the body and has a more flexible feel to it. The texture for me seems to add a little oomph in stimulation while being used; mixed with the powerful vibrations if pressed too hard against the clit, the textured tip can start to hurt a bit.

Design / Shape / Size

Never having owned one before my husband bought one for me as a present, after getting it I was surprised at how big the Hitachi Magic Wand really is. The wand measures 12 inches, which is by far the largest toy I have ever used. At times while using it, I find that I have to readjust the way I am holding it more than once.
The head is also pretty large with a diameter of almost 2 1/2 inches. This measurement, unlike the body size, is great in my opinion because it easily hits all the spots you are trying to reach.

Given its size, taking it with you while traveling is doable, but I imagine a little more difficult than a vibrator half its size. I would say that trying to hide this wand could be a little difficult because of its size. Storing it takes up a good amount of space. I usually use a larger bag to store my Hitachi in. On a positive note, the wand is pretty discreet; given that it is so well known as a body massager, if you can find the room to pack it I would definitely take this toy with you when you travel.
    • Discreet look/design
    • Partner play

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Hitachi Magic Wand has two different vibration settings: a low (which is actually pretty intense, so be prepared!) and a high, which is extremely powerful and is my personal favorite. The switch is located on the middle of the body and flips up and down to change settings with the middle position turning the wand off. The amazing thing about the Hitachi is the power and intensity of the vibrations that can be felt everywhere and not just in one spot.

The Hitachi also is not like other toys in that this is a plug-in toy, so take this into consideration when going to use your Hitachi. I find using a plug-in toy somewhat annoying because in my house I have to make sure I always have an extension cord handy whenever I want to use it. It's a given that under no circumstance should this toy be used in or near any water; always make sure to unplug it before going near anything wet.
One thing about the wand is that you should be prepared for lots of noise while using it; on either setting the intensity of the vibrations make this toy extremely loud! Br warned that even if you are using the wand behind closed doors you might want to use a pillow or blanket to help buffer the noise.
    • Hard to figure out
    • Powerful
    • Strong patterns

Care and Maintenance

I use a large zip-up bag to store my Hitachi, extension cord (you never know when you might need it!), and other toys. When cleaning the wand, make sure that it is not plugged in and the cord is tied up and away from any water. To clean the wand you only need to clean the head of the wand and this can be done with warm water and soap after every use.

If you choose to use a lube with the wand you can use water, silicone, or oil based. I use lube sometimes with my wand; you just have to be careful not to get it on your hands or the body of the wand, or you will have a hard time holding on to it while using it.
    • Easy to clean
Follow-up commentary
The Hitachi is still my #1 toy! Out of all my vibrators I use this one the most. If, like me, you need something with strong vibrations, then the Hitachi is for you!

Thanks for the review. It is way too powerful for my wife, we have only used it once or twice. Maybe one day I will find an attachment that she enjoys.

  • Good alternative to Hitachi?
    • I had a rechargeable mini fairy wand, but last week it ended up breaking, and now I'm desperately looking for a similar type wand massager. I've looked at a couple, but I'd really like some input on which massager people are recommending. Thanks!
    • I have 3 wand massagers that I use at times. There are things I love and hate about all of them. The hitachi is the most powerful one, but it is so loud! The Wahl 2 speed is also great. It is the quietest and I love how rumbly the vibes are! But none of the attachments are quite right for me. If I could only have one wand I would get Inspire. It has a button that you press and release when the power is at your desired strength. In stead of just 2 speeds like the hitachi or the wahl you have control over how much power you want to use. The Inspire has a detachable silicone head. My complaints are that it gets hot after about 20 minutes, at at the higher speeds it gets pretty loud. Your toy was rechargable, but the wands I listed all plug in and have more power. Good luck with your replacement!

Ooh, thanks! Yeah, the rechargeable wands tend to get really hot too, plus it would die after 20-30 minutes, so I needed to stay near an outlet at all times. Noise isn't really an issue for me (at least not right now). The one I had before had an adjustable wheel for vibration intensity, but to be honest, I always turned it all the way up and never changed it, so maybe I don't really need adjustable speeds.

I've never tried any of the detachable heads. Are they worth buying?

  • Will it be out of stock until the sale is over?
    • Ekk! It is out of stock again! I keep missing it. I finally have enough to buy it but I guess the discount made it sell like crazy. Does it typically not come back in until the sale is over?

Panicing a bit because I'm moving soon and will need to purchase it within the next week.
    • You can open a support ticket from your account dashboard to ask about it. If they know when it'll be coming in they'll be happy to tell you.
    • Perfect! Thank you!

  • Strength
    • Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
    • Quote: Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
Probably not for less than fifty dollars. A friend of mine is saving for the Sybian or The Rock Box. I can't speak from experience about either of those vibrators though. However, if you want something similar to the Hitachi, I would suggest either The Wahl or a Fairy Wand. I own the Hitachi, Wahl, and Fairy Mini but highly suggest the Wahl. It is the most rumbly of the three and is nearly silent.

I think the Hitachi is the strongest vibe i know of.

  • Hitachi Wand Vs. Acyvube
    • Is the hitachi better than the acuvibe for anyone who has had the chance to try both? I'm under the impression that they are essentially the same thing but maybe I'm wrong...
    • I have had both, and they are really both very good toys. The main difference really is that the Acuvibe is rechargeable and can be used cordless, while the Hitachi must plug in to work. Personally, I think that the Hitachi is slightly stronger, and it has definitely outlasted my Acuvibes - I have had two, and they both broke down after about six months or so.

We are going on 3+ years on the acuvibe. The shell is starting to crack but it still functions great, I just wanted to know if we should switch when I do want to buy a new one. More powerful sounds good :)

  • The Size !!!!!!!
    • Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
    • In the way of what, exactly? It's not really a toy for couples play and actually it's not even designed for masturbation but has become the Holy Grail of vibrators through decades of word of mouth.
    • Quote: Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
It's really only meant for external use. So if you are talking about insertion it probably would be a bit big.

  • Universal
    • Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
    • There are a few. If you search the site you can find a couple.
    • Quote: Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
I don't know if I understand the question, but the attachment we bought for our Hitachi is a "universal" attachment that we bought from another store. It's too "floppy" for me, but is a nice g-spot attachment, or would be if it was a little stiffer!

  • Bullet Vibes that rival the Hitachi Magic Wand
    • Hello, everyone!

Recently I've sold my Hitachi to a friend, and I've been on the market for a new clit vibe. I'm one of those girls who has a "clit-o-steel&quo t;, so I can't really get off unless I have something powerful on my clit. I bought a LAYAspot by FunFactory, thinking it would be a nice, powerful bullet to use when I'm with my partner, and I realized that it barely even packs a punch!

I guess I'm being a bit picky. I don't want something that's as strong as the Hitachi's HIGH setting, but something kind of inbetween the two, one that has a few nice, strong modes.

I was looking at the more expensive clit vibes- JeJoue's MiMi and Lelo's Siri. Do you think that they would be strong enough? Do you recommend anything? Thanks guys!

U had the flexi anal rod prior to the Hitachi..It is strong as well, and it probably right between the hitachi hi and low... I actually prefer the two setting on Hitach..SHIT and OHH SHIT.. The flexi rod has about 4 if i'm not mistaken..Plus it is flexible as well.. Costs about 25.00

Its on a review of mine already..

  • Hitachi
    • This is by far the best purchase I've made. My wife has a tough time reaching orgasm and needs the intense vibrations for her to climax. The Hitachi far exceeds this task, she doesn't use any other toy now, always reaches for the Hitachi. Just need to get her the G-spot attachment and she is set up. Thanks again.
    • I completely agree. The Magic Wand is the best vibrator ever.

  • Have you ever used a wand?
    • HI I was wondering if you have ever used anything like the Fairy Wand? I have used the baby fairy wand but its tiny... the size of the larger ones kind of intimidate me ... what are your thoughts on them and should I get one?
    • I dislike most of them intensely. They're too strong, too big and they make my whole vulva - as well as my hands - feel numb.

      Many folks love them, though!
    • I used the Wanachi Mini, which I really liked. Unfortunately it fell apart, it seems mine wasn't the only one either. I did contact Pipedream though and they seem eager to correct this problem!
