Swirl lube - lubricant discontinued by Sliquid, LLC - review by Alicia

Then you'll love Sliquid Swirl lubricant. It'd even be good if you like making love at midnight, in the Dunes of the Cape if you so choose. But ok in all seriousness this lube is a pretty awesome flavored lubricant. It's a water based lubricant that's great to spice up oral sex and it also performs well for vaginal sex and decently for hand jobs. I wouldn't go about using this for anal sex though, it's just a bit too thin and doesn't last that long.

I have the Pina Colada flavor and while I was worried about it at first, I really like it. Sometimes there are flavors that I like that just don't sound like they would go well with oral sex. So, even though Pina Coladas are my favorite fruity drink I wasn't sure I'd like to taste them on my husband's cock. Turns out..I do! The smell of this lubricant is stronger than its taste. When you open up the lubricant it smells as if someone has just blended up a fresh batch of Pina Coladas..mmmm. When you taste it it's slightly sweet with a touch of pineapple and coconut and for some reason I also sensed banana. This lubricant does contain aspartame so that could potentially be a problem for a few reasons. First off some people are sensitive or allergic to aspartame, and those people should not use this lubricant. Secondly, I imagine that the taste has a diet taste. I have drank diet soda pretty much my entire life and so I am used to it and rarely notice if things "taste diet".

Another reason why I love this lubricant are its ingredients are simple and for the most part are things that I know. It's a fairly short list: Purified Water, Plant Cellulose, Polyquat 007, Pina Colada flavoring, Aspartame, and DMDM Hydantoin. There were two that I was unsure of so I did some research. Polyquat 007 is a hypoallergenic additive that allows the plant cellulose to glide. The DMDM Hydantoin is a bit worrisome since it's a preservative that releases formaldehyde. It is used as an anti microbe ingredient and is used instead of more dangerous parabens. So, I'm not sure how I feel about DMDM Hydantoin quite yet and will have to do a bit more research. In general though I feel safe with these ingredients and appreciate that the product is 100% vegan.

Sliquid also does not test on animals, which I appreciate. It's non-staining and is friendly with all sex toy materials and condoms. The bottle is 4.2 oz and I think that will last quite a long while since not much is needed each time. The top is a flip top..which I personally don't mind, but a pump bottle would be nice too. The bottle has a picture of a girl's face and a pineapple, pretty innocent. It does say that it's an intimate lubricant but as far as lubes go this would be one I wouldn't be totally mortified to have on my night stand. Eden also carries this in Blue Raspberry, Cherry Vanilla, and Green Apple flavors if one of those is more likely to float your boat!

Using this during oral sex just was plain awesome. I used just a little and it allowed for an easier glide and helped to need less saliva from me. Saliva isn't something that I normally create in abundance, so this is a big help for me. It also of course tasted yummy so that helped me get into it a bit more. The response coming from my husband was quite positive too so I think it's safe to say it was good for him too! Obviously in this scenario you're licking the lubricant away so it won't last forever, especially not the taste. I could still taste and smell a faint amount even after it had seemingly all been licked and sucked away.

For hand jobs it works while it lasts. Again, pleasant reaction from the husband and it didn't get sticky and kept up a good glide for me. Also works well if you go between hand jobs and oral. Thing is that it won't last forever and I found that if I switched hands my hand would absorb anything that was left and it would then make the hand job even drier than it would if I hadn't used any lube to start with. This is why I like oil based for this better than water based. Oil based lubricants will not end up making the cock drier than it started with. But of course oil based lubes don't taste this good! So, if you find you run out just add a few more drops and you're good to go. The packaging says that you can always add water to reactivate but I have never found that really works so well for me.

It performed well for vaginal sex. There wasn't anything spectacular about it that will make me reach for this lube over others if we're just having vaginal sex, but it did work. Just a few drops was all we needed and we didn't need to reapply. But, here's the thing. We don't really NEED lubricant for vaginal sex. We could just use my natural lubrication and be ok. So, if you actually need lubrication I am not sure that this would hold up. Sometimes when we use lube I can feel the added slickness throughout the session. With this one I couldn't really after the initial few minutes. That isn't to say that it wasn't working though, just not quite to the extent that it initially was. It also is formulated to emulate your own natural juices so it's possible that we don't feel it because it just feels natural. For most people I'd say this would work fine for vaginal sex since it will help glide in initial penetration and then allow the natural juices to take over. For those who have problems with dryness though might want to look elsewhere and just keep this for oral fun.

I'm still enjoying my "Penis-Coladas" as we like to call blow jobs sweetened with this lube. It's not something we reach for each and every time because well, sometimes it's just nice to not taste anything at all when giving oral. But, Sliquid Swirl is something that we reach for just for a little something different or if we'll be going back and forth between oral and other things. I have another flavored lube and this one wins hands down. It also works nicely just as a regular water based lubricants, though we do have others that we like better if the purpose is not for tasting.
